[Q] Updated stock ROM -- lost Wi-Fi! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I downloaded the cdma file for the SPH-L710 from Sammobile.com and flashed it with Mobile Odin. I now have 4.1.2 but my Wi-Fi radio won't turn on no matter what I do. The 4G is working and everything else is OK except my e-mail went from white background with black letters to black background with white letters. I can live with the e-mail like that but I need my Wi-Fi! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WiFi not kicking on is Kernel related, If you flashed a different one, Reflash it or try a different one.

I only flashed the firmware from sammobile.com. Is there a stock kernel available that is compatible with 4.1.2?

What rom you currently rocking? and link me the file you flashed please. See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947&highlight=md4 And read OP, The Stock MD4 (4.1.2 Touch Wiz) Kernel is in there. Also has his Optimized kernel. Be sure to say thanks to Freeza.

The link is here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SPH-L710&pcode=0#firmware
I used the 2013 April (4.1.2)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw the stock MD4 (4.1.2) Touch Wiz but I was unsure if Touch Wiz is what I needed. I am on Sprint in the US and my phone is SPH-L710. With my Galaxy S1, I had Cyanogen Mod which I flashed nightly builds and then my phone died (black screen) after 2 years. I've had the S3 for a few months. I rooted it but did not modify anything so my flashing skills are rusty . Someone suggested Mobile Odin so that's what I used to flash the firmware.

Freeza's file was missing but I found the kernel here:
http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=233
I flashed it with Mobile Odin and now, I have 4.1.2 and Wi-Fi. Yay! This Senior Citizen is now happy :victory:

I would just flash freeza's customized kernel (like milky said). You can do it from custom recovery...

Need help.

I'm have two versions of the same Rom, one is an earlier date and one is the latest. I like the previous dated one as a daily driver but the latest one has a few things I want. What files or folders would I need to extract to carry over the splash screen and the notification bar?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Notification bar is SystemUI.apk, not sure on splash. Maybe the same, or framework-res.apk
You need to be careful though, these may not be cross-compatible. I would look at the Changelog, and then make inquiries on the thread itself, or pm your q to the owner.
ROM - OdexedBlue
Baseband - LJ7
Kernel - Stock LI3

[Q] No LTE after CM 10.2 install on SPH-L710

Hello,
I have gotten some great help here on xda and have tried different modems (MD4 works best, MK3 caused battery drain, MB1 no service) I have been told to flash a touchwiz ROM and grab the APN then flash back to CM. I have not been able to find a touchwiz ROM that will work and on top of that, all the download sites have really annoying adware. Can anyone point me in the direction of a TWR that will work on my phone so I can get LTE finally?
Thank you in advance for your input and help and thank you to all that have offered advice on other threads.
flash a TW rom thats the same version as your current cm (4.3?), that should work no matter what

I had the same problem. Did you flash the mobin.bin via odin & changed the bulid.prop? That's what helped me.
This is how you get the mk2 baseband: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544612

Which Modem.bin and change which build.prop line to what? Your instructions are vague
52635596
If you are able to make phone calls, I wouldn't worry about the baseband version. And as for the wifi, first go download any build.prop editor via play store (considering you are rooted) and locate ro.securestorage.support. Then just change it from True to False. Save and reboot after and the wifi should be fixed.
hi thanks all you guys for your help. well i got the 4.3 baseband flashed thanks to Karakoram2 took a couple of tries but it finally sticked and my phone baseband now reads M919UVUEMK2. so im currently using wicked v8 because when i flash v9 even now with the correct baseband "hopefully" the rom still doesn't work right. wifi is still not working and if i let the phone sleep the screen wont turn on again and yes the phone is still on it just refuses to display the lock screen all i get is a black screen, and if i try to reboot it just gets stuck on samsung logo so i saw SupraLek's coment about changing the build.prop and should i do it before i flash the rom or after. like i said running v8 at the moment
The new 9.1 update will work without the need to change anything

Just thought I share if your having wifi problems try flashing the ktoonez kernal. I did that instead of going into build prop and my wifi is working great. No problems here. Found the download link in the wicked v9.1 forum on page 909 or 910. Sorry new to the forum and don't know how to share that link but it worked.

The new v9.1 you should not have to edit buildprop, flash different kernel or anything as it has been fixed

[Q] Stock 4.4.2 OC Kernel

Hi everyone,
I've just gotten the T889 and have been trying to find a kernel that would run TW (in my case stock 4.4.2 already rooted with philz touch recovery) and I'm trying to find a kernel that would permit OC. I tried devil dual -----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239453 "[Kernel] Devil2-2.3.2 [4.3/4.4] - Linaro 4.8.3 - Dualboot - 02/01" but my phone doesn't boot after flashing.. which leads me to believe that it only works with stock 4.3 (and others). My question would be if anyone is aware of a kernel that would work with stock 4.4.2 that would allow OC'ing. I have looked for one but haven't had a chance to find one, so if anyone could suggest anything, it would be truly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

There is no official stock 4.4.2 ROM for the t889... yet. But, if you're on a 4.4.2, you can use Agni kernel. Here is link to thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602053

Thank you for the info! I guess I should have specified (my mistake) I'm using the T889V, a Canadian variant and the update is available through the SamMobile's firmware site. I wonder, TW 4.4.2 would work with the link you've posted?
Thank you again!

Sir, I thank you kindly for the advice and letting me know about this kernel. It's the first one that has actually booted and the Agni Control is amazing.. so much customization.
Again, thank you!

This is the best kernel I've used since I got my note 2 almost 2 years ago. I wish this was available back with 4.1.2.
Be careful with undervolting, that's the only thing that my phone doesn't like. It will hang and need a battery pull. I just leave it with no UV, and all is good. I don't have any problems getting through a day with battery, so no real need to UV.
Good luck going forward :good:
