Hello. Ok so i`m gonna go right ahead and put my problem right here. In a few days time , i`m gonna give my phone permanently to my father because i`m going to buy another for me and the problem is that he is sort of technologically challenged and has a little bit of visual problems , so i wish to know what can i do to ease his learning curve , maybe there`s a rom i don`t know about , maybe some launchers (i tried Big Launcher , it seems pretty good) , some apps , some complete framework change , i don`t know , some tips that would help me help him
As for me , there`s a huge lot of roms that i tried in the past 2 years on our Gio but right now i keep CM 7.2 by MMB . Do you think i should change it for him ?
Cheers and thank you

I was trying to port X10 mini rom to WF - it boots but its rebooting after a while. I have no idea what causes reboots (maybe something in framework?). So if you want, you can try to fix it. (I have no time on this for now - exams )

Yippee !
HTC has given 3 Indian language keyboards in the latest software update. (Marathi, Hindi & Tamil) :good:
And one more thing (don't know if it is my hallucination or what ), but the device seems to be a bit faster now.
Please tell us if you have noticed any other new features or improvements.

There are a few that say HTC has incorporated Swype kinda keyboard and has also changed the looks of the lockscreen ring quite a bit.
Just checked it after reading your reply.
Yes, now you can swipe on stock keyboard too.
But there seems to be no change at lock screen.

I just got this update. I see the 3 new scripts. But no swype like keyboard with it.
Also the lock ring is not much different really. Performance may have marginally gone up.

If all else fails , make a fold on your SD-Card named ``Ringtones`` and copy some loud stuff there . Then when you select the ringtone it should be there
I know flasht my gio again with cm7.2 from marcin
Sound of all the notifactions R loud enough for me to here on my work now.
The only thing that does not work is the stk app.
It is there but it does nothing @ all. Maby someone know how to get it working????

Maybe the loudness is depending on the general one. Tried that?
Hey Guys,
Back when i had my Nokia n95 "great phone", i could download and install a small animation thing that could animate the screen-turn-on and off so that it looked the a CRT screen from the old days?
- Does anyone know if such a thing exists for the Note II, or if its hard to code?

Rooted is easy to install, non rooted, I don't know how. But it's totally doable.

Hey Xnes,
This is exactly what I needed?
My phone is not rooted, and if possible, I would like to keep it this way?
- But if it is needed, then i will do it...!
Any other ideas?

I use Wanam's great ROM. It can be enabled in this ROM. I suppose you don't want to flash a whole new ROM though when you don't want to root though. I think you need at least root to be able to change it.

Hey,
I will try to find Wanams rom.. And hope its easy to install..! But im not sure that i understand the last part of your message? "I suppose you don't want to flash a whole new ROM though when you don't want to root though. I think you need at least root to be able to change it." :$
General Bobo
For non rooted you can use an app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
I have the widget on my home screen. You then have to configure for crt effect. Here are my settings.
I'm happy enough with it.

My apologies, when I read it back it is indeed lousy English. I meant that when you don't actually want to root your device, flashing a whole new rom might be too much. I must say that besides the animation, the rom gives a lot more nice features, yet it stays close to the original Samsung rom, so it would still be interesting to look at maybe. Installing is quite easy and explained in the WanamLite rom thread.

I use the 120 DPI on com.android.settings, modified via App Settings... the text become much smaller so it's a bit harder to see but at least it feels like you really have a five inch phone not a four inch.
