As the title suggests and asks: Is there a 4.3 compatible media player?
MX, DicePlayer, VLC, etc. have left 4.3 users in the cold until they update their apps for Android 4.3 compability.
Others have reported BS Player, Mobo, etc to work, but they either result choppy or or audio/sound only but no picture.
I've tried ES File Manger's built-in player, Gallery. There's .mkv playback, but ES/Gallery are pretty slow/choppy and can't keep up and such.
MX has been quite fast with such an update in the past. Let's hope it's the same this time round.

For me that does not work. There is no "This version is unsupported" message but cannot get video and sound to work. Some modes (SW) even close MX player without an error or anything.
I was reading about that bug, I just got done watch in a bluray rip so I dunno? Tried attaching but I'm getting a token error...I'll look at the site and see which one I have.
UPDATE yep thats what im runnin. K I'm running stock settings and mp4 plays perfect. I wonder if its codec related. Do you have any mp4 video you could test?
Vplayer has had the 4.3 update and works brilliantly

Hardware acceleration on vplayer don't work. Only in BSPlayer work proper
K after messing around trying to play a 720p video on vplayer(choppy as hell), bs(not much better) and MX player had no audio on mkv I got VLC. The latest nightly runs almost as good as MX, few weird pops and clicks, but totally watchable.

works on 4.3, no issues including custom codec.
Thanks everyone.
Tried VPlayer for a while. It was a nice run with VPlayer, but it's a battery clog/drainer, the holo ui is a nice thing about it, though.
That said, DicePlayer (my personal favorite and preferred choice) got 2 or 3 updates a few days ago and has been playing everything smoothly.
I got an update for MX Player earlier today, everything appears to be working again. Just thought I'd throw it out there for MX Player users/fans.

MX and Dice Player are the best options imo, I've only been using MX player though as it hasn't given me any problem with any of my movies including 720 & 1080p flicks. I heard MX dropped DTS support so some movies may not have sound, that's where dice player comes in.

Yeah, I kinda regret buying MXPlayer Pro. Should have read up more before buying anything. BSPlayer is good but, no screen lock.
DICE Player plays my .avi files but, sometimes, I have to start them a couple of times because the video will fc and throw me back to the Skifta Video Browse screen. Weird.
Yes it is good, but I want an app that hides the soft keys like the video app which incidentally works great for mp4 files.

The main reason I switched was becuase I was getting no audio with .mkv files in MX Player, whereas in BS Player all the files I tried were ok.

No one here uses "Super Video, Floating and Popup"? This and Mobo player have been ole faithfuls for me. For one Super Video has gestures, (turn volume up and down while watching movie), Also after one video ends, it automatically plays another. (Works very well when watching saved music videos, and don't want to have to click on another video after the last one ended.) It also has minimizes to a small floating video so you can see your home screen in the background while you continue to watch movies/videos.
If MXplayer does this also, i might need to give it a try.
The stock gallery app is easily the best for playing videos it supports.
I don't think other players support the LPcore and stuff, and they use waaay too much processing power. I have tried 3rd party ones but they all use more than one core at nearly full freq most of the time. This is why I'm using stock
Feel free to prove me wrong though
I just installed Android 4.3 on my nexus 4, and sadly MX Player (pro) does not support this android version yet. I tried Moboplayer as an alternative, but the mkv plays give lots of frame drops.
Is there any decent alternative for this fantastic player until they get it to work on the shining new android version?

Hi, it seems like most video players are not working on android 4.3. I use archos & mxplayer and both are not working. I just recently tried vplayer and even though it works I want a player that can download subtitles on the fly. Can someone please recommend any compatible options !!!
bsplayer works fine and has everything you want
I'm not sure if it supports subtitle downloading, but the VLC Android beta I installed yesterday played back a 1080p movie with subtitles flawlessly. So I would highly recommend that. I honestly didn't know that certain movie players on Android download subs automatically, but if you are transferring movie files manually, can't you also retrieve the subs on your PC, just as you did the with the actual movie file(s)?
