Is it possible to downgrade to the old radio with the NEW 1.18 hboot? I need to downgrade that way I can re-unlock, root, and flash PACman. I have found that the new radio (.928, something with those digits). This is extremely urgent as I absolutely need my phone working by August 3rd, as I have a high school orientation to go to that's about 10 miles from home and have to keep in touch while riding the bus to inform of my safety. It'd be greatly appreciated if you can help, and thank you very much, in advance!

I have a somewhat unique situation that I haven't been able to peace together after 6 days of searching threads. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!
My elderly mother bought an EVO recently after I bought one and some idiot talked her into running the 3.30 RUU on an EVO with software 3.26.651.6, baseband 2.15.00.07.28, and hardware ver 3. This also upgraded her HBOOT to ver 2.02. From my thread searching, it seems that 3.30 isn't intended for EVO's with HW ver 3 and may impact the phone's performance and/or battery life. I do believe that there was an OTA for her phone for 3.29.651.5.
I am wondering if it is possible to downgrade her HBOOT and sw back to 3.26.651.6 and the corresponding HBOOT version? I would then want to apply the OTA to update to 3.29.651.5, where she should be. She NEEDS to have a stock phone . From searching threads it appears that I need to root her phone using the 'like a boss" method and then run the RUU 3.26.651.6. However, I am unable to find the stock 3.26 recovery img needed. I do have the stock 3.30 recovery img but am reluctant to use a different recovery img.
Help please, if you can!
A little direction if you can...
Anyone? Just looking for a little direction here. Also, trying to follow the rules and keep this out of the dev section...
Not a noob to rooting, just to the EVO. Rooted my old hero and flashed a few diff roms...just want to make sure I have the right info and am prepared before I start rooting the phone. I really have searched MANY threads and I feel confident about rooting the phone via "Like a boss" and illogos's updates but I didn't find anything about successfully un-rooting to a pre 3.30 software version.
Can I just run the RUU for 3.26xxx after rooting? I'm assuming that will be fine with S-Off and an older hboot.
Hey guys, I just rooted my phone and am looking into installing a new ROM. I'm trying to gather all the info i need, and one thing that keeps popping up is the radio. Most ROMs need a certain radio. Som here come the questions:
What radio does a stock Dinc use (Background, I bought my phone in december, so it is a newer model)?
Does Rooting using unRevoked change the radio (thats what I used)?
How do I check the radio?
Thanks for all the help guys. I looked all over the place and couldnt find answers to these questions, but i might have just missed them. If that's the case, I apologize for the repeat.
EDIT: FOUND THE RADIO!
For others with this same question, its in HBOOT (Turn phone off, then hold power and down volume)

2.15.00.07.28 most likely, since it is the official 2.2 radio version.
Does Rooting using unRevoked change the radio (thats what I used)?
No, it does not.
How do I check the radio?
Menu - Settings - About Phone - Software - radio version is labeled as Baseband Version

Also check here for all the radio information you need to know about, including all the versions of it. I run 2.15.00.11.19, works just fine for me.
The stock Radio is 2.15.00.07.28, and that should be fine for most any ROM. Unrevoked does not change the radio; and your's, being a newer phone, will be up to date. You can check what Radio version by going to menu>settings>about phone>software infomation and it will be list under "Baseband version". Hope this helps.
Edit: ^Sucker! Beat me to it...
Wow!
Thanks for the super fast reply guys! That method of finding the radio is WAY easier than going to HBOOT.
Bennies?
Is there any benefit to using a different radio, ie one with a higher number?

No one can give you a definitive answer to that because it varies from phone to phone based on their own unique variables. In other words, if I install the 9.01 baseband on my phone here in Melbourne, FL, odds are I'm not going to get the same results as someone in Detroit or Orlando. It may be better or it may be worse.
The only way to know if you'll get better performance from a particular baseband version is to give it a test drive for a few days.
Hmm, interesting. All this rooting stuff is so complicated. But I like it.

Be very careful with radio flashing! If you do it wrong (i.e. pull the battery during) you'll brick it. I get really fast GPS locks and about the same 3G with the 11.19, but as others have said, it really varies location to location.
Please HELP I've read a bunch of ways to do things but I don't know witch way is the best way for my setup because some say if you're fully rooted do this if you're this then do that, it driving me crazy!
I would just like to go back to factory setting because I need to return the phone do to blown speakers. I'm a NEWBEE to all this so I don't know much. All I know is that I rooted my phone using unrevoked (I think it was unrevoked3) I was surprised I did it. Anyhow I only rooted the phone to use the free wireless tethering. Now I want to remove root but I don't know how, I tried it but didn't work, after reboot I was still rooted. I was thinking of just bringing it in like that, but the Superuser Permission widget is a dead giveaway I CAN'T find any way to remove it. So if anyone can be so kind to help me in ANYWAY it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advanced!
Here I give you all the info I think you might need to direct me in the right way.
PS: I did the mistake and never backed up anything before rooting. Just backed up using Rom Manager and Super Manager after the fact.

Okay, here's the guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141
it outlines how to do it based on whether or not you used unrevoked to root.
However, since our phones are newer (and i assume you have an up to date rom), I'm going to upload the correct pc36img.zip file.
Make sure you follow the instructions, but use the pc36img i upload here, not the one he has, there's a PAIN IN THE ASS PROCESS to going back to PRI 1.40 and it's not worth the trouble. This way is easier.
By the way, you need to rename the attachment "PC36IMG.ZIP" (minus the quotes) for your bootloader to read it. When you see the guide, it'll all make sense.
Hit the thanks button if i've helped
**Edit**
the correct pc36img file is on page 39 of the guide's forum. it's too big for me to attach here
I have a colleague that is on her 3rd G2 exchange (after my suggestion of her to get it after coming from a BlackBerry) and they have all suffered from the same condition of chronic dropped calls within the first 10 seconds of the call on about 50% of all calls. I've got a Nexus One which never experiences that in the same geographic location (we work in the same office) so I'm pretty sure its not the signal strength in the area that's the cause - we both get full bars on HSPA. I'm thinking as a last resort before she throws in the towel and gets a BB Bold instead to try to update her phone's radio to solve this issue for her.
So, she has absolutely no interest in custom ROMs, rooting, voiding her warranty or anything else that is above the scope of a "normal" phone user. I'd like to try out a new radio version or two on her G2 in the least invasive way possible.
What is the minimum amount of modification needed to be able to flash a radio update?
Radio S-OFF?
Super-CID?
Engineering HBOOT (0.76.2000) ?
Or, is it possible to update the radio without doing any of these?
I'm absolutely confident that I can do any and all of those things but just want to spend as little of my time doing this for her and want it to remain as close to stock as possible for her.
Thanks!
joemm, the OP of the of the [RADIO][ZIP]- HTC VISION RADIO's (PC10IMG.zip Update Files) thread has PM'd me this reply for anyone else wanting to know this information for themselves:
You would have to root her phone and either superCID or ENG. Hboot.
2 ways:
Root + SuperCID - you can use my PC10IMG zip files to flash the radio.
Root + ENG. Hboot- you would use terminal on your comupter to push the radio.img to your phone in fastboot mode. In order to use fastboot you need the ENG. Hboot.
Either way requires root S-Off which voids her warranty, but there are methods to unroot and return to stock S-on in the forum. Also remember there are always risks involved when rooting, so make sure she's aware of them and still wants you to try this for her. Good Luck.
So I rooted my phone through experimentation. Great learning experience but now i want to go backwards i would like to go back and the methods im finding aren't working so im hoping if i supply someone with my info below that i can get the phone back to returning stock.
Please try to be as specific as possible.
Flash: MiUI 4.0.4
Baseband: 2.12.00.12.19
Kernal Version: 2.6.38.8 -tiamet_evo-v4.1.0+

THank you in advance
If you look here in the general section, there are 2 good threads with good info on the 2.18 hboot of how to root, and in your case, to unroot.
