I have a question if someone would be so kind to help me with.
Whenever I do a nandroid backup to my external SD Card I get the following message:
No /sdcard/ .android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
Backing up cache ...
Backup of cache completed.
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Generating md5 sum ...
Backup complete!
When I check the external sd card, the back is there. Its probably a dumb question as my backup is working, but I'm interested to know why it says what its saying, and maybe its a problem even though its still backing up?
Cheers.
You mean "no /sdcard/ .android_secure found." ??
If yes then that's a file sometimes you'll have it.. Not too important.
If you mean "No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext"
Simply that's not your external sdcard.. That's like a external memory attached using USB and your phone isn't connected to a memory card/hard disk/ etc.. So it will obviously say its not found ..
Hope that what you're looking for..

Hey guys. I have done numerous nandroid backups in the past with problem but now I seem to be having issues doing backups.
Im running clockwork 2.5.0.1. I got to a backup and it sits there for a time and then spits out:
"No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
Backing up cache...
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Backup Complete!"
Any ideas wtf is going on?
I think it all refers to Apps on your SD card. If you don't have any installed there, there obviously won't be anything to backup, & i believe the sd card has to have an ext partition, so as long as you don't have apps on your card, looks normal to me.
If i'm wrong, someone feel free to correct me.
I concur. If you don't have apps2sd going you won't have any ext partition on your SD card to worry about.
Rooted my phone and ran Nandroid and Titanium backups. I just went to put a copy of the backups on my laptop and could not find any Nandroid files on my sd card.
Went back into recovery and ran Nandroid again. Noticed that even though I got the "Backup Complete" there were error messages above:
No sdcard/ .android_secure found. skipping backup of applications on external storage.
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
The card is a 2gig formatted fat32. Everything else seems to be fine with it. What am I missing?
Thanks
Turn off your phone, pull the sd card and re-insert. Restart. Sometimes that helps.
I got the same two messages both times that I ran nandroid (10 days apart). Although I did have all the image files backed up, such as:
boot.img
cache.img
data.img
datadata.img
recovery.img
system.img
Do I have to physically remove the card and reinstall as a refresh?
Also what is the importance of said file paths:
No sdcard/ .android_secure found. skipping backup of applications on external storage.
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
I tried formatting the card again and it I got the same messages. Then I noticed a clockmod directory was on the card. Looks like the Nandroid backups are in that directory in the backup sub-directory.
From I came up with the above noted messages are normal. They simply mean that there is no ext partition and no applications on the card.

Cool Thanks!
nandroid issues
If you make a .android_secure folder on sdcard it will fix that issue. Im still researching sd-ext issue. I tried to create the folder but it didnt work because thats what im getting. hopefully that helps.

You are correct. The messages are not errors and are normal.
When I do a backup (using ClockworkMod v2.5.0.9) I get this msg
Backing up boot...
Backing up recovery...
Backing up system...
Backing up data...
No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
Backing up cache...
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext. Generating md5 sum...
Backup complete
I'm looking for input on what this means, and if it has correctly backed up my files.
Thanks in advance.

It use to do it to me when I didn't have an ext parition on my SD card. All it means is that there is no like "data" in those partitions and is just skipping the backup since there is nothing there. Nothing to worry about
question, i just did a nandroid backup and there are some lines which i got questions about.
after backing up boot image, recovery image, system, and data...
it reads:
No / sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
Backing up cach...
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Generating md5 sum...
Backup complete!
so, does this mean that my apps were not backed up? should i run the backup again or am i good to go.

Apps installed internally are backed up, apps you've moved to the SD card aren't. CWM is looking for /sdcard/.android_secure but on the E4GT it's actually /sdcard/external_sd/.android_secure
kool, i haven't moved anything over to the sdcard yet...so hopefully im good to go. now to flash a custom ROM and see what happens when i advance restore data.
This only happens during the creation of Nandroid backup and so far it's only given me an error message. I DO NOT know if it's a serious problem or not? The message states: " No /sddcard/ .android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
Backing up cache...
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Generating md5 sum...
Backup complete"
What is it telling me and do I need to be concerned? Will all my data be able to be restored?
I'm running CWR v5.8.4.7 because it's the newest version that recognises the internal sd card? It seems to me I ran a nandroid with no problems right after I installed that version of recovery, so I dont see a problem tied to that?
Any/all help appreciated..Thanks!
I receive that same message on every CWM backup I make, on every phone I own. Not an issue at all.

Well, that's strange because I wasn't getting the message (or any error message of any kind?) until just recently and I've made quite a few backups?

No concern. Don't know why you didn't see it before. It just means you don't have an ext partition on the card. You almost always see it.
