We need different audio lib files. I am working on getting a compilation of different ROMs and trying out their lib files. Some lib files that i know will work cause a bootloop. So im hoping i can find at least one. I am gonna try the GE ROMs next. As i have my highest hopes with them.

Did you rename them to i believe PowerOn.ogg and PowerOff.ogg and set permissions to rw-r--r-- ? That should do the trick. If not it might be a conversion issue.
And this one is a decent one.

What i mean by conversion issue is that something didnt go right during the conversion from MP3 to OGG. I just recommend to try to convert again using different settings for the output file. i think there is a website that does it too. can't remember

[Q] ROM Malice Boot animation

Hey guys, I flashed the new Malice Rom (3/20/12), and I was wondering how I can switch the zombie boot animation. I know where to put the zip file, (/system/media) Somehow I cannot seem to get other ones to work. I made sure the replacement files mirror the original. Do I need to flash the entire file as opposed to just replacing the files using root explorer? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I renamed it to bootanimation.zip, etc.
Copy and then Change permision file in root explorer rw-r-r

I tried what you said, and the permissions show the same, but its not working. other thoughts?

Ok, maybe it cause your custom boot animation not valid..

Well, I tried a couple other ones, and no dice. Could it be that the rom itself only allows that one(or none)?
Download rom toolbox and get the boot animations from there. By far the easiest way.

[MOD]No increasing ring tone - LJ2 - i317

Well I'm not sure why Samsung does this, however it drives me nuts. So here is the phone.apk without the increasing ringtone stuff.
Flash in recovery.
You must delete the "SecPhone.odex" in /system/app after installing. Until I can make a time to have the zip do it. Thanks
Enjoy!
I was looking for a way to disable this.. thanks!
Thanks man.. awesome mod...needed this
I flashed from recovery, rebooted and it said updating apps, starting apps, had my wife call but it still does that lame ascending ringtone. I tried rebooting and now every time it reboots it says updating apps, starting apps.. sucks lol takes a little longer to start up now. Any way to fix? I also found the file you talked about deleting but it said it was read only.

Wow I was waiting for this mod!!! Sham on you Sammy for making this wonderful Dev make it right. I for sure didnt forget to hit the thanks button on this one!
Worked like a charm. Had to delete the odex file, then the mod took. A cache/dalvik wipe took care of the "upgrading apps" screen. My ringtones start loud and stay that way. Many thanks!

Are you running a custom ROM? If so, you're probably already deodexed.
OK. I got ya. I still get the "updating apparently" on restart. I have cleared caches.

Not sure I can be of much more help if you're on a deodexed ROM already. I've stuck with rooted/de-bloated stock for the time being. Wiping the caches solved it for me, aside from the first boot after the cache wipe, of course, but I'm still fully odexed aside from that one file I deleted.
It worked for me this time, thinfs different from the first try, im now on the lite de-bloated stock rom and modded kernel

So it looks like I need to modify the zip install to remove the .odex file.
Makes sense since de-odexing turns the .odex into a classes file inside the apk, which is then edited. I'll edit the zip today to remove to .odex file.

Flash in recovery. Even if you aren't de-odexed this should still work. In the zip I did not have it delete the .odex extension in /system/app. So after you flash this feel free to delete the SecPhone.odex, or leave it, your choice.

[q] boot animation help!!!!

Hey guys, I'm running CM10(stable). i loved the bootani, like seriously, i pretty made out with my phone each time i saw it. Then i went ahead and flashed TRINITY kernel. That completely changed the bootani into something that i just completely hated. I followed a bunch of how to's and copy this file here and delete this one and change permissions. and NONE of that worked for. Instead, when i followed them and delete the old bootani and copy the new one, not only did it not work, I'm now stuck with no animation! I found a tutorial with a .zip that when flashed, allows you to flash any bootani you want and everyone that has used that has had success. but thats not working for me either! Can someone please give me a tutorial or link me to one that can at least give me a bootani, CM10 preferably, but right now, just having a bootani is my main priority.
Thanks to anyone and everyone that at least attempts to help and a BIG thanks to the ones that actually help!:good:
Once again, Thanks in advance everyone !:good:
Also, i would prefer to not have to do a fresh install of CM10 or have to go back to TW. I would like it to just fix my animation problem without really flashing anything ROMS or doing a reset or stuff like that.
Thanks!
Changing your boot animation is actually not too hard.
Look for a bootanimation that you like and download it. It should be named bootanimation.zip and contain a desc.txt file and a couple folders with images in them. If its named something else rename it to bootanimation.zip
Using root explorer navigate to system/media and rename the current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak as a backup. you could just delete it if u want.
Then copy the one u downloaded to system/media and change the permissions to rw-r-r
Reboot your phone and enjoy.
I'd avoid using utilities or flashing zips...its easier and safer to do it manually.
BTW here's a pretty cool one that I use:

The only thing that has me confused is that what you told me to do was exactly what i doing before, i just did it with the links you gave me. So im guessing it was just the files i had before. [Q] Custom Sound Backup

Hello there,
I like to install custom audio such as new lock/unlock sounds, ringtones, etc to the /system/media/ui/ sub directories and every time I update CM10.1, they are gone and I have to transfer them again and set permissions. I was just wondering if there is a quick way to transfer them back without using root explorer and editing them one by one?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Thawte

Not really as you should never restore system files. You could change them in the ROM itself before flashing it though. I believe it'd be faster on your pc than on your phone.

Ah ok, thank you for the insight. Are you talking about using a root explorer on the computer through the usb or was that in reference to patching the sound files into the rom zip? :highfive:

You would have to use something like 7zip on your pc. And patching the sound files into the ROM zip.

Ok cool I have a copy of 7zip on the pc, had to get it since winzip is getting so bloated and slow plus not supporting a vast assortment of compressed files. Thank you
I have found a way to easily import the sound files after rom patching. I just built a flashable zip and included the files I wanted to replace or add.

Disabled shutter sound but manual focus still "chirps"

I am having trouble finding and deleting the sound file that "chirps" or "beeps" when I touch an area to focus on my camera. Auto-focus and shutter sound have been removed such as shutter.ogg, shutter_multiple.ogg, Auto_focus.ogg and Auto_focus_error.ogg and some other camera related .ogg.
I tried playing every file under system/media/ui or ringtones or notifications or alarms in Root Explorer to see if I can hear that exact sound. Could not find it. It's gotta be somewhere right?
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
The easier way to do it would have been to simply edit the features.xml file to turn on the shutter sound menu button in your camera app. It is there, but turned off by Sprint by default. Turning it off from your camera disabled both sounds, and you can turn it back on later, if you like. Here's a link:

The focus chirp is actually built into the SamsungCamera.apk. Its not controlled by the feature.xml file or included with the other audio in the system/media folder. As far as I know the only way to silence it is to decompile the apk and remove the sounds in the /res/raw/ directory

Ok, I found the culprit. It's the autofocus_ok.ogg under SamsungCamera.apk/res/raw
Is it safe to delete this? Or do I have to decompile (not sure how to do this)?

I can't say for sure due to the fact that the camera is odexed but u should be able to extract the apk like a zip, remove the files and zip it back up. (Then change .zip to .apk) and replace it

Sorry, I'm not sure how to do this. Is this all done on root explorer? Because I can't find these files when I plug it into my computer.
Ok, I extracted the apk, deleted that file, zipped it back up and moved it to where the original SamsungCamera.apk deleting the old .apk.
Now it won't install the camera. lol

So after deleting the .odex file, I flashed it using CWM and it freezes when I try to open the camera app. Also, I checked the .apk in Root Explorer and it seems like a bunch of files were missing. I didn't even see the res or raw file. Thanks but I guess I'll have to deal with it.
