Hello, I have rooted my phone and I tried to install a ROM, this is the tutorial I followed:
androidlegend.com/upgrade-htc-one-v-to-android-4-1-jelly-bean-via-aokp-custom-rom/
Click to collapse
After the tutorial, when my phone start, it shows (down of the HTC Logo) in red colour:
This build is for development purposes only do not distribute outside of htc without written permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action.
Click to collapse
The phone reboots and reboots at the same screen with the red message (it's the same message that appear when start the recovery mode). I can access to hboot and to the recovery. I restored two differents backups of my phone using the recovery (TWRP) and nothing, the red message continues and I can't start the system.
I think that the backup would restore the boot.img that I flash into the phone using fastboot (the link of the boot.img file of the tutorial was broken and I extracted the boot.img file from the .zip of the rom), but I have restored the phone 3 or 4 times, with Wipe Factory Reset, Dalvik Cache, System and Partition cache.

Oh thanks, I put the KISS Kernel with fast boot and the phone run correctly again (the red letters continues appearing at the boot but it's for using an unofficial kernel, later the system boot and works fine).
Does the kiss kernel work with unofficial roms? Or I have to put another kernel?
Why when I restored the backup the kernel wasn't restored too?
Thanks

Hello all,
I'm asking for you help about my dead (almost) HTC ONE X that I got 1 month ago...
I tried to flash a new custom ROM on it and everything went fine for rooting and stuff...
The ROM that I was supposed to flash needed a boot.img to be flashed first, which I did but I forgot to put the ZIP containing the custom ROM in my sdcard. Now, when I reboot my phone, it freezes on the HTC logo and can't go on.
I still can get it connected via adb and recovery.
I restored my backup but it doesn't change a thing to make it work.
I tried a hard factory reset
I pushed the zip file that I was supposed to flash, but when I try to flash it from recovery, it can't be found!!!
I don't know what else to do, I need help......please and thank you in andvance !
Go to recovery, mounts and storage, then mount usb storage. With your usb-cable connected you sould be able to copy over your ROM to sd-card and flash normally.

Try to mount several times. If that doesn't work you need to flash another recovery such as twrp. What version of cwm are you on?

Alright stay cool, your phone isn't bricked. Download this: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img. and flash in fastboot. Go to fastboot> fastboot flash recovery [the file.img] After that try mounting again and it should work.

I can highly recommend CM10 provided that you can live without sense. Really smooth and fully functional.
And remember to flash the boot.img from CM10 if you decide to install it.

I've never tried skydragon ROM and still think you should flash CyanogenMod 10. It is totally safe for everyday use. You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696
And one more thing: flashing skydragon requires updating hboot which might be too tricky and has its own disadvantages so not recommending that.

Some roms are more minimal with just the basic apps, whereas some are nearer to the official HTC roms, with Sense etc.
Make sure that you have the correct firmware HBoot for any particular rom. By the sounds of it, you can't currently install the JellyBean custom roms (bar CM10) with the Hboot you have.

ok, calm down, everyone has this problem while flashing, i get it so many times, they can cause by the following reasons
bad flash
wrong rom
you forgot to flash the kernel
wrong kernel
messed up the order in flashing
ok,
1.Bad flash-this occurs if the .zip file is corrupted
solution:= re flash the ROM, if still no, download the file again and try
2.wrong ROM- u may have downloaded a ROM that is not for ur device or a ROM which is of not ur description
for example u might me a PRIMO C device/CDMA and u downloaded a PRIMO U/GSM ROM
3.Wrong Kernel-Kernel is the link between ur software and hardware, if u flash the wrong one like the case mentioned above , download the correct one and re flash
4.[ FLASHING YOUR KERNEL SHOULD BE THE LAST STEP][UNLESS U HAVE A S-OFF DEVICE]

flashing a kernel should be the 1st step mate.. soo u can directly go into recovery after kernel flashing and then proceed with rom and gapps flashing... how on earth are you supposed to go to fastboot from recovery ehh? 1st booting than fukn waiting on the boot screen...
all this voids if u use twrp still.. flashing kernel 1st is highly recommended always and everywhere

I hope I get a fairly quick response to this Followed some advide in that thread, flashed a kernel (I thought) using the All In One Tool, ever since, I've been stuck in a bootloop. Obviously I have access to my bootloader and TWRP (thankfully). My recovery backup returns the same results though.
Im new to this so I'll try toprovide all the info I can.
Followed the TUT on how to Unlock Bootloader and Root 2 days ago.
Yesterday, using the All In One tool, flashed TWRP onto phone.
Was unable to Flash AOKP JellyBean 4.1.2 so I asked for help again (ROM was flashed, but stuck on Initiating Swagger Boot)
Tried using All-In-One to flash (what I thought was) a kernel, since then, my phone just boots continuously or not at all (depending on if I wipe or whatnot)
While at work, I was able to Flash the AOKP rom and Boot into it, but after about 1 minute of use, it reboots.
This is where I'm at now.
My bootloader says
***UNLOCKED***
PRIMOC PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT- 1.57.0000
RADIO- 1.00.05.0929
eMMC-boot
Jun 18 2012, 10:22:43
I'm using the latest version (2.3.3.) of TWRP
Is there anyway I can find, and delete, the boot.img I flashed with All-In-One, that caused this bootloop?
Thanks again for helping.

Its not that your device is not compatible, or your hboot needs to be updated, but i think you should repack the kernel that is inside the AOSP/ non-sense rom.
hboot that is 1.31 or higher needs to be repacked to to run on AOSP roms.:good:
I am afraid you have all confused me. No idea about whether or not my carrier sent an update, but I assume they haven't-wouldn't that create an issue with sense roms too?
As far as my kernal is concerned, I thought they were just built into roms?
I am actually more than happy with blade for the moment, but this confused me.

yea try it with new boot.img.....if it doesnt boot, go for full wipe aka factory reset from recovery
First try without wipe
yea me too :highfive:
I know this is a bit off topic, but do i have to do a full wipe etc if I'm only updating the kernel?

Full wipe is only required when switching roms
No wipe is needed for kernel update
Have you got a link for the Rom? Coz I think that might be the problem? Is it 73mb? Roughly coz it seemed a bit small?

For Shpongle, as it is 4.2.2, CM10.1 themes will work
I tried to install a 4.2.2 ROM on my HTC desire HD and I did all exactly the instructions sent. Flashed an appropriated kernel, however I when I go to reboot, the phone get stuck on boot screen! And the worst is that I forgot to make a backup so my phone is "dead". So I need help to fix it please

The same thing happened to me... Just flash the official RUU and see if it boots. If it does, just flash any ROM that you want.
As for the RUU, I flashed the global version.

How can I flash official RUU if I only have access to the recovery?
Did you flash the boot.img from the ROMs zip using Fast boot?

Well how else are you going to flash it if not trough the recovery?
Just flash it as you would any other ROM. (Do a FULL wipe and install the .zip + kernel)

He also said it was through recovery, recovery doesn't have access to the boot partition, therefore flashing a kernel through recovery won't work.
