Well I have bought a rooted ONE X . Previously locked and bootloader unlocked by owner. I dont know so much from the world of android development so i have so much difficulties. I dont own an original HTC wall charger. So atm i am charging it from the pc usb port. It takes about 7-8 hours to fully charge... I bought a Samsung charger which has 5v---1A output power. And it charges my phone for much more time than the pc usb port. That made me order an HTC Authentic charger and cable.(hasnt arrived yet) Will that solve my problem and charge faster? Or is that a problem on my phones firmware?
Second question: If i factory reset the phone will it get relocked? (remember it is rooted)
Im waiting for a reply.. thanks
bump
You can relock the bootloader by going to fastboot and plug in the phone and enter cmd, type fastboot oem lock. In general I have noticed a slower charging rate via usb as well. I think from wall is faster. Why would you want to lock the bootloader though? This doesn't sound like a software problem and the bootloader is the last thing that would cause slow charging I think. Root access is the way to go imo
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
A wallcharger is much faster then a usb port indeed. Via usb you charge only half the speed, unless you root it and use a custom kernel that supports fastcharging via usb. That means it will charge just as fast via usb as with a wall charger.
And a factory reset will not relock the bootloader.

Why does that happen with a samsung charger? It has same output values as original HTC one.. It charges so slow on 5v 1A output power...
Well some phones just need their original charger/cable......i experienced it while flashing boot.img files. Using a non branded usb cable gave me okey flashing but the kernel didn't stick well and connection was not optimal. As soon as i used the original HTC cable all was fine. Can't really explain

That means exactly what it says...you put your charger in your phone and use it,right? And if you play hevy games(or use some apps or use your internet browser) your battery drain is bigger then the charger can deliver to your phone.

but are u charging via the Original Charger or a laptop/PC/HUB?
Some laptop/PC/HUB aren't able to provide enough charge to the battery..

I got the same issue too, tried to use google navigation in car with car charger (1A) via usb cable, same error message appeared. Checked the battery usage, highest usage is screen. is it means the screen drain the battery quicker then charging? it's a bit weird for me, any advice? Thanks

If you are using a non powered USB hub while it has other devices (e.g Hard disk) connected to it, then that is your problem. Connect the phone directly to a USB port on your PC.
P.S : On certain desktop cases, front USB ports may also give out this type of low power warnings, in that case connect it to one of the back USB ports.
Also USB to pc charge is a trickle charge very easy to kill battery if gaming and connected to pc.

I got the same message today! Before charging, 76% remaining, after 2hrs, now only 24% left, I've never touched my phone once I plugged it into USB port (direct connection to MacBook Pro USB port), and the screen remains off, weird.
This error comes only when any heavy app is runing and is being charged via PC/laptop....and btw what was the charge on ur phone when this error occured?? It occured to me when i was charging it through my laptop and playing angry birds (the charge was around 10% when it happened)...
i guess the current provided by laptop is 0.5A and sometimes HOX can use 1 to 1.5 A....
The message is exactly what your usage is unless I have misread it. Like the poster above, the USB port maximum current draw is limited to 500mA (with temporary draw of 100mA for the No Dead Battery provision) whereas the charger supplied with your phone can deliver upto 1A. So at some point in time, esp. under heavy use you are likely to drain more than what you can add to the battery, esp. if it is getting trickle charged at lower current from your PC. I remember other similar examples with my old HTC Sensation detecting my USB car charger as if from a computer when using GPS and the battery level going down over the journey.
Next time try doing whatever caused this error but with a wall powered charger instead.

I agree, a pc only gives 5V 500mAh output from the USB ports. u need atleast 5V 1A for the phone to charge in normal speed. I never use any charger that has less than 1A output. (my car charger has 5V 2.1A)
Just think of it like this: the bigger screen u have, the more power u need to charge since the screen uses the most of the device's power.
If you try to charge it with the pc's USB then it takes much longer time to charge it because the phone uses some of the power simultanously (even in standby mode)
Im charging my one x via the original wall charger, but i get the same error message too. And i didnt even touch my phone, no app were running at all
I get this message while charging in the car and using navigation. I got a 1A charger now for the car too.
Does anyone know what output charger is still safe to use with this phone? Can you go higher than 1A?
There is a bug in HTC One's. I've got an M9 and I get this message. It needs to be rebooted until the message stops appearing. Can take up to three attempts before it's clear.
Hi!
I bought my GNII a week ago and phone is awesome!
The only problem is it takes soooooooooo long to charge. I didn't assume that something was wrong yet since it is new. After charging for the third time and it's still slow, I searched for answers but came back empty. So I'm here hoping somebody could help at least so that I could do everything on my end before contacting my provider.
Here are some information:
1. Charger that I am using is the stock charger that came along with the phone. USB cable and Original Charger.
2. Phone is not rooted.
3. When I plug it using the wall charger (USB cable + Original Charger) it is being detected as USB instead of AC.
Hope somebody could help.
Thanks!

No there aren't , the problem is with the defective 4 pin usb cable bundeld with few of our sets actually we need to have 5 pin cables for proper charging , had exactly the same problem with my s3 puechased a HTC usb cable after that my problem was gone for good.

Yep the one packed with it is usb3 which is a bit faster. The other one is usb2 which is a bit slower.

Hi! Some breakthrough. I charged my phone at the office using the wall charger and plugging it to a UPS and VIOLA!! It charged as AC!! Could you (or anybody) know why?
Root, flash a custom kernel which supports fast usb charging

will it charge like AC after flashing? Rooting it would be my last option since I just discovered it could charge as AC without rooting. The only problem is why it charges as USB on wall charger but AC on a UPS.

That kernel will charge at 900mA by default over a normal usb connection.
I flashed it rather that the sock kernel just for that reason, plus for me it gives improved battery life etc over the stock kernel. You can overclock also but I have no desire to do that with the Note 2 as its pleanty fast enough already.
Does anyone know off a kernel that actually has usb fast charging enabled in it ?
I've noticed ever since the latest update, two HTC ones that I have are charging very slow.
I.e. if using GPS/navigation my car charger cannot keep the battery charged or when just using the phone itself. (Not while driving if course)
When on the previous OTA update it was fine. Yes they charge in AC mode. And the charger I have is rated for output at 2 amps just like my home charger which is fine.
Anyone else having this issue?

thats because your max output on the car is 500mA and that is not enought to run the phone and charge at the same time. Even if the charger is rated at 2amps the phone wont know and default to USB charging speeds.
To test this go to the battery and see if it says AC or USB:
USB max is 500mA
AC max is 2A
even thought the charger says it can do more, the phone doesnt know that unless the data pins for transfer of data are shorted indicating the phone is allowed to do AC charging.
EDIT:
More info on how to hack it to force AC charging:

That's the thing it does charge in A/C mode, not USB.
Which is odd, it only started after the last update in May, and its happening across two identical HTC Ones. Both are s-off boot loader unlocked running same version/software etc...
Basically it charges in the A/C current but is dying during charging

its been one of those weeks. i was looking at the OP.
Happening to two phones? Bad charger, go get a new one. Or test it if you are unsure, hook up a meter and check it out. But two phones losing charge while in AC mode on the same car charger screams "bad charger" to me.
Edit - Also, assuming your household charger works fine - and that is AC mode charging also, it pretty much narrows the culprit down to that charger being bad. If it was a rom issue it would be duplicating the issue on any charger it saw as AC.
If I recall you will get a "Slow Charging" notification if you're charging with less than 500mA. If you're seeing that notification then you're more than likely going to struggle to use GPS while charging at that rate.(It would take nearly 5 hours to fully charge that phone with it off using such a low amount of current)
Hi
I've been having a problem with my G4 for the past few days,
when i connect it to the wall charger it recognizes it as if it was charging
via USB not AC as it did normally, and when i connect it to my laptop it charges,
but won't let me use LG Bridge nor LG UP , and im not able to browse the internal memory
I've tried using several chargers and cables in several combinations with the same results ,
it only charges as AC with a no brand 1000ma charger that i had lying around and whatever usb cable i put on it.
is it possible that the usb on my phone is broken? or could it be something else?
already did a 3 factory resets and tried to flash a diferent firmware
but that's how i realized it didn't work on my laptop either.

all computers have drivers installed, tried several cables, i don't even care about connecting it to a computer

yes if i connect it to a charger or to my computer it charges,
but when i connect it to an AC charger it shows up as charging as if it was connected to a USB port
so this makes it charge very slowly , taking hours to charge with a 2.0 qualcomm quick charger instead of a few minutes
when i connect it to any computer it charges but i can't browse files or connect using any software
i tried using several chargers , the stock charger that came with the phone, one from a G3 , a QC 2.0 charger, several samsung chargers, and others and only one shows as AC charging.
so yeah it charges but not as it should

you need to do exactly as described
1: connect your cable to wall charger(mounted to socket=on) and mobile
2: turn off mobile(do not unplug cable until mobile completely off ~10-15 sec)
3: unplug cable after off
4: press power button and than insert cable (within 4-5 sec)
5: let it start (it should b on AC charging)

only way is to take it to telcel and have it fix. or search i have no idea.
just as an update, i took the phone to my carrier, to make a warranty claim, see if they could fix it, they sent the phone to LG and returned to me, said as i have the camera lens glass broken the warranty was void and they wont perform any repairs on the phone as it was cheaper to get a new phone, also they didn't tell me what the issue with the slow charge was, im under the impression that they only saw the shattered camera glass and said F**k it
im not sure if taking it somewhere else and replacing the usb port will help somehow

You have exactly my problem. Your usb controller is burned and it can no longer charge with 4-5 volts. It needs more. I can only charge my phone with QC-3, which outputs 8-9 volts, but your rom must support higher than 5v charge. You also won't have any access to PC, including fastboot. And unfortunately, to fix the issue, you will need a new motherboard, which doesn't make sense unless you are on warranty.

You can probably install one of those stock roms that includes older firmware (look for official TWRP installable roms on europes fans forum). That should lock your bootloader. Just be careful reading description and directions.
