Is anybody else having issues with Chrome? When I am browsing with several tabs open some of the tabs just freeze up. I can't scroll up or down, and none of the back buttons work. I have to close the app in order to get it working again. It's happening about every ten minutes. I'm just wondering if anybody else is running into this problem...
It's something with this site because it's doing that on my Note II. Other sites appear fine.

Just picked up this Nexus 7 this morning. It does not seem to like the xda site
Yeah, I've been surfing the web with it for a while now. It works great on most sites, but for some reason, my Nexus 7 (2013) and the xda developer site do not get along. The page keeps reloading if I try to scroll down (and pops in a new ad banner each time.)
I can only see the top portion of the page. It seems to mainly happen on the forum list pages. (For instance, if I go to the Nexus 7 (2013) page it list the sub categories. If I try to scroll down it reloads the page. Thats ok because the list is short. But if I go to one of the sub categories, like Q&A and try to scroll down to see the full list, it keeps reloading and putting me back to the top of the list. A few times the window locked up and I had to close and reopen it)

My chrome browser has froze up from time to time. I'm on chrome beta now and have been fine.
I too have had issues with the chrome browser and the xda site. It constantly reloads, regardless of what I'm doing. Relieved to know I'm not the only one.
It seems to causing the shockwave plugin to crash. I used to have the same problem with Android Central. Might be an issue with their ads.
I just use the xda app from my phone, ask the website I've tried work well so far on chrome.

Funny, that's when it started for me.

Can confirm that issues start after signing in xda on chrome beta. It was not immediate and then it would just freeze. Clearing data did unfreeze it. The xda app appears to be working fine.

For xda browsing with the N7, try changing the xda layout. Scroll to the bottom of any page, in the bottom left corner there is a pull down menu. Try changing to one of the older/other layouts. Some have said it fixes the xda browsing issue.

Same here. I still have tabs freezing on me occasionally, but XDA is not reloading itself whenever I scroll down anymore.
If you have more than 1 tab open, you can go to the recent apps screen, touch Chrome, select a different tab before the address and tab bars hide themselves, then close the frozen one without effecting the others.
For reference, the constant refresh problem is also tracked at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2382516.

Same thing here (in Firefox). I Google'd it and found that other people having the same problem on other sites too. I checked one of those sites and the same thing happened, page loads a little-bit and then get the blank page when ads.pubmatic.com is being accessed.
The funny thing is I blocked pubmatic.com and ads.pubmatic.com in my hosts file and it's still happening. It doesn't seem to happen in Chrome, though.
For me, I notice when I try to go back in internet explorer it takes like 15 clicks, so I actually use the mouse and click the tab on the top of the xda webpage. If I right click the back arrow for the browser it lists a bunch of ads, which explains why it takes so many clicks to get back. It is like this on every computer I have used xda on recently. Xda is the only site that I have this issue.

Having the same problem accessing this site from my laptop as well ..... arrrrrgh, its also affecting transformer forums. Anyone found a way to fix this problem yet
Blocking via hosts file doesn't appear to work, nor does blocking "ads.pubmatic.com" in Adblock Plus. After configuring the latter, the page still hangs, only this time on google-analytics.com, so now I'm not sure if it's pubmatic.com or something else.
I came across older (2008, 2009) results in Google reporting the same problem with pubmatic.com, so I really have no idea what's going on.

Thanks for letting us know, that's good to know there's one way to fix it.
That's not an option for me, unfortunately. There are still add-ons that I can't use outside of FF 3.6x. I'd rather know what exactly is going on and fix it without updating to the FF-Version-of-the-Month.

No problem, will continue to check back to see if you or someone else comes up with another option. I cleared caches, checked add-ons, firewalls rebooted routers and machines and had no luck. It works fine with Chrome as well.

No, it's definitely not you. I've come across several posts today from various other sites from people who have been experiencing this issue over the past 3-4 days.
I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but many of them are running vBulletin. The issue seems to be restricted to Firefox.
Even after blocking a bunch of pubmatic.com sites in my hosts file, the issue is still happening, only the blank page hangs on www.google-analytics.com. I didn't want to go as far as blocking that, but I did anyway in my Hosts file with no success.
I came across this plug-in that I'm going to try out. This is an official Google addon that allows you to opt-out of google-analytics.com tracking.
http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en
Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (BETA)
To provide website visitors more choice on how their data is collected by Google Analytics, we have developed the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The add-on communicates with the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js) to indicate that information about the website visit should not be sent to Google Analytics.
If you want to opt-out, download and install the add-on for your current web browser. The Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on is available for Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Opera.
Click to collapse
EDIT: No dice. I installed the addon and now the hanging blank page stops loading. It still jumps to the blank page.
One other comment I read suggested that the sites themselves should verify that they've put the Google Analytics code at the very bottom of their page templates where it belongs. But I would assume that the GA code was put in place a long time ago, and doubt that would be the issue here.
---------- Post added at 02:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 PM ----------
Success!
I added "www.google-analytics.com" to my hosts file, in addition to "google-analytics.com" and everything is fine now.
One thing I didn't try was to only use the Google opt-out addon, without adding any "google-analytics" entries to my hosts file.
If someone who prefers not to alter their hosts file wants to try it the addon-only way, please let us know if it works for you.
Thanks, folks!

Same for me...and I'm still on the old Nexus 7 with 4.2.2

If I pinch to zoom slowly, it will jump all over the place. Anyone else noticing this?

It was doing it to me also on my chrome browser but dolphin browser works perfectly on nexus 7 2
the xda hd premium app acts strange on the new 7 as well

I assume your using Chrome. This was mentioned in an other thread and it fixed the issue for me.
1. Scroll down to the bottom of the XDA web page, to the pull down menu.
2. Change to a different style I believe XDA Classic, XDA 2010 or XDA 2013 Beta - 1024, all worked for me.
Hope that helps, Good luck.

I am also having the same problem on my 7 inch Tab 2 using Chrome on the XDA site. Also, sometimes when I'm just kind of idle on a post, I get redirected to a porn app site. I think Boink is the name of it.
Edit: I switched to Opera beta browser, and it fixed the problem. Until I made this post, now it also does the same thing. No problem with my Epic Touch though.
I am having the exact same issue. It is refreshing the whole page automatically, and refreshing when I scroll. Completely unusable!
This is happening on my Samsung Note 8.0. Tried both Chrome and Chrome beta with the same results. Please fix this.
The only way I've found to get around this problem is by using the xda app. I've tried countless browsers with no prevail. Opera beta, and One have given the best results though.

I've got a Nook HD+ that has the stock B&N OS on it, and I just thought to test it, and I get the same behaviour: chrome keeps reloading xda forums when I'm logged in, but doesn't when I'm not. I've got a Nexus 7, too. Lemme see if I get the same behavior on it....
Yes! Exactly the same. My Nexus 7 is running cm10.1, and chrome reloads xda forums, every second or so, as long as I'm logged into xda. As soon as I log out, it stops reloading. Just for fun, I tried using the old Android "Browser", and it doesn't do that.
So, it appears to be totally independent of Hardware and OS. There's something incompatible between chrome and xda forums, but only when you're logged in to xda.
PS: not *totally* independent of hardware and OS: I don't get that behavior on any of my three Ubuntu 13.04 machines. Seems to be limited to Android-based OS's.
Nice man! I've tried it on my Galaxy Tab2 7.0, and my Epic 4g Touch. The tablet is the only one that reproduces this problem. On the tab, I've tested a few different but browsers, and so far Chrome, Opera, and Firefox have all produced the same result. Just that Opera gave the fewest issues. I deleted the stock browser, so I haven't tried it yet, and still havent tried it while logged out. The only way I have found to avoid any problems is to use the XDA app, but I'm sure there are a few like me, that have had small problems (like attaching pics,) also. Hopefully xda/the mods will find this issue great enough to fix it.

This is really strange. With my WiFi Galaxy Tab 2 I don't have this issue. Firefox is my "primary" browser. Opera is my secondary browser. No problems with either one and I'm running CM10.2. I think it's a Chrome-specific issue... Oh, I see that kthomson205 says it happens on Firefox and Opera, too.
I saw in some other thread where somebody created a new xda profile and they didn't experience the problem with the new profile. So, it may be limited to some very specific set of options in your xda profile.
I just reinstalled chrome on my Tab2. Logged in, scrolled thru several pages. Making this post via Chrome
No issues for me.
EDIT::
Replicated the issue by ticking "Request desktop site" in Chrome's menu. Unticked "Request desktop site" and the reloading stopped.
I keep getting redirected to the play store and other websites when I'm on xda with my nexus 7 and on my phone.
Also every time I move a page up or down the page refreshes and I have to move the page again to see what threads are at the bottom of the page. It is getting to the point where I'm thinking of deleting my xda bookmarks and not bothering with the site on my tablet.
All other websites are fine by the way. I have avast installed and I'm using chrome.
Please help, thanks.

I tried taptalk and boy is it me or is that horrible to use.
I'm getting pop ups and redirections on boat browser now. How come it doesn't happen on any other websites. Also I don't have a problem with xda when on my windows phone. Looking forward to getting my 2520
On the "ad away" link above it says root needed, I don't have root so is there any way of getting it without root?
Cheers
