Hello,
first of all congratulations to all the lucky owners of the new Nexus 7 :good: !
I would like to know how would you describe the sound quality through headphones ?
How would you describe it compared to the "old" Nexus 7 ?
Other comparison with for instance the iphone 4s, SONY Xperia S, Galaxy Nexus, Sansa Clip etc. could be helpful.
Please do not forget to post which headphones you are using as well.
Thank you very much indeed!
Best regards,
pootney
I dont have any of those devices, but compared to the HTC One, which has VERY good sound quality, its a little better of not a lot better. I'm using a pair of Scosche earphones. They run around $30. Not even close to top of the line . Just normal ones.
Very good for a mobile device, it can decently drive my HD598 something I cant say about my HTC One XL.
Hello,
thank you guys.
That sounds promising :cyclops:
Best regards,
pootney
I'd say awesome. The franhauser auido really delivers. I have a pair of v-modas that have 5hz-25Khz frequency response, so they're not sissy headphones. Good quality sound.

I am using Shure SE315's, I would say the Nexus has a slight upper hand. Rich (but not overwhelming) bass and decent treble without using an equalizer. On my SIII, I feel the need to use the equalizer.

i use a set of 11mm skull candy FMJ`s, get a lot of bass out of it, its defiantly on a par with the HTC One with sound, i was very impressed, especially with the types of music i listen to lots of old school house and Italian house, old rave tunes and occasional rock music/hiphop a taste i acquired 7 years ago upon moving to the USA lol

I'm no audiophile but they sound very similar in quality. I've even used the SGS3 headphones and it works fine compared to the original nexus 7 that sounded bad with those headsets cause it did not fit properly.
I use my PSB M4U 2s with it and it has good sound quality. I like the sound quality better than my S IV and about on par with my HTC One with the Beats EQ disabled.
Hello,
thank you guys!
That sounds very promising and makes it harder to wait until it's finally available in Germany.

Hello xda fellas!
Am looking for the best headphones for the galaxy nexus but first i want to ask is it worth it to buy such headphones on a mere smartphone? Is it gonna make any major difference between it and the stock headphones?
If yes then what do you suggest me to buy??? Ive heard about the sennheiser HD650, what do you think about it???
Oh one more thing, what is external DAC?? Does galaxy nexus support it??is it gonna make any difference in sound quality??
I'm thinking to buy SMS audio
It's worth getting a decent pair of sound isolating headphones. I currently use ultimate ears but also have a pair of Sennheiser's which are great (and cheaper!)

Earphones or headphones?
I have some Sennheiser earphones for my Creative Zen X-Fi so I use them. They make everything sound better and you can pick a pair up for £30-50.

I actually think stock earphones are quite good. Do you have the phone already? If not I would wait and test the stock ones before spending even more money. If you have Nexus already then I'm just curious what you don't like about them?
I like the stock earphones but i wanted to take it to the next level to see if those expensive ear/headphones really worth it or not
What's your budget? I would recommended Sennheiser IE8s to anyone that's willing to listen excellent for the price

I have beats solo's and they dont seem to be no where near as loud as they are on my iPhone.. Pretty gutted about it to be honest
the Galaxy Nexus can drive my AIAIAI TMA-1 headphones brilliantly. The Nexus S wasn't able to push them very well, but the Galaxy Nexus sounds great with these headphones.
For the record, these headphones have 40mm drivers.

You can't get wrong with IE8. Been using one since last year & the quality is the best that I've ever come across.
skull candy ,,,,,,,,,the sound from them pure quality,
I can recommend this one.
Sennheiser HD25-1 II
They are very clear and exact. They give you out what you put in. So nothing for low quality files.
Sure from a design point of few they are not awesome but the sound is very good.
The good thing about them is that they have a very good isolation so if you're using the public transport a lot you will love them.
Another good point is that you can easily replace every single piece and they are very adjustable so it fits nice to your head.
I just got bob Marley ear buds from stapes for 40 bucks and they sound awesome I have skull candies but they always fall out of my ears

I am wondering whether its worth purchasing an expensive night quality pair of head phones for my new galaxy note?
I'm sure the sound driver on this unit is a Yamaha produce and its very poor and wouldn't produce high enough quality for top spec head phones anyway.
am I correct? I would like to hear your views!

I tested some earphones on my dad's Galaxy Note. (UE triple fi 10 and Super.Fi 4vi)
For mp3 format songs, a middle class earphone is okay...
In my opinion, HTC machines have better sound quailty
You can achieve a reasonable quality with the Note. Definitely not on par with other audio sources but this is what I do. Rip music at 320 bit rate.
Headphones. Try and make sure the ohms is under 32. Most portable are, but 16 ohms is better for the Note as it doesn't go naturally as loud as I would like. Then look at the sound pressure level. You preferably need a score of over 108db.
The top end sennheiser IE8 have incredible measurements. And consequently go loud and dynamic and punchy bass with ease. But they are very expensive.
I don't think the Note needs expensive cans, but don't buy inefficient headphones. They won't go loud and will lack dynamics.
I've got some mid range sennheiser in ears, and I'm extremely happy with the quality.

I fully admit, although I love music, I certainly wouldn't class myself as an audiophile, and may well have damaged my ears through the years, so they might well sound crap. For me they're fantastic

I use the Senn HD215 closed back units and find them pretty good from the Note for mp3 bitrates above 192kbps.
i have the creative x-fi headphones. the x-fi crystalliser improves the audio quality enough for me to be happy enough with it. it doesnt compare to the surround sound system i have in my room, but its good enough.

Neutron MP
Instead of rushing out to buy headphones, I would suggest upgrading the music player to Neutron MP, first.
The UI is not very good, but the sound quality is fantastic! Volume is increased to a point that will hurt your ears, if you want. I have compared it side by side on my Note and previously, on my Dell Streak 5. Neutron MP wins every time. The difference in sound quality is quite noticeable.
Finally, Dmitry, the developer, is very knowledgeable, extremely responsive to his forum or emails, and is constantly updating and improving an already great product. He has a SGSII which is very similar to our Note so he is developing directly for us!
I am a very satisfied user!!!

Depends on what kind of music you listen... Beats are a piece of crap for the price. I use a pair of Westone 4R, and even though I have an ipod video which is better for music than the note, the note is good enough, specially with playerpro.
The Monster Turbine are better than the Beats, for a similar price and same manufacturer. Otherwise, you can check Shure 840 for a full size can and medium prized or the ATH M50 for the best bang for the buck headphone out there.
[audiophile headphones]
Remember, all you need is
I got 2 headphones.
Sennheiser M550 (Bluetooth)
Sennheiser HD650
I have a pair of JH16 Pros from JH Audio for reference listening, and a pair of Shure SE530s for everything else.
The Yamaha DAC in all current Galaxy phones is garbage, so you might as well get a cheaper set if you'll only be using them with your Note.
I installed DSPManager and bought a pair of noise cancellation headphones from AblePlanet;

PS: I bought from WorldWideStereo online.

Hey guys.
I want to know your opinion on this...
What do you think of the stereo headphones with mic that are included in the Galaxy Note package? My Galaxy Note is black, yet it came with white headphones... guess that's what everyone gets. Although, I saw original Note headphones that are BLACK on the internet... Oh well...
At first, I thought they'd be rocking, since I previously owned a Galaxy Nexus and let me tell you, the headphones that came with it were better than the pair of A4Tech MK-650 I have been using. I wasn't expecting Samsung to have taken such an ugly turn and make the headphones so bad for the Note! They did it perfectly for the Nexus, and now I think I know the reason : it was Nexus, Google thing... with standards...
Of course, when I sold my Nexus, I gave the headphones with it... Didn't think the ones for the Note will be this crappy!
1. They don't stay in my ear properly. Even tried the larger rubber "plugs", even the ones from A4Tech... It's about the headphone's construction itself : it's made not to fit perfectly over your ear...
2. Quality sucks. I can't listen to music with these. At least not drum & base .
So, how are you feeling about your headphones? Maybe I got a bad pair... or maybe that's just the way they are, crappy (I go for that one)...
Also, if just by chance you are using or have used a pair of Galaxy Nexus headphones on the Note and worked... I'd like to know . I'm ready to pay 10 extra bucks for a new pair of Galaxy Nexus headphones, just so they don't fall off from my ear when I'm talking to somebody...

I tried two pairs of Dr. Dre (not the same, one was Stereo one was Mono or something, looked pretty much alike, but were different) at a showroom a few weeks ago... They were the kind of headphones that you put over your head, and they rest on your head, you know... The big kind of headphones. Oh well...
They sounded nice... but when I activated Bass Enhancement in Music Player, they started to buzz and crack and buff and prr... lol.
So... Beats by Dr. Dre... excellent at bass... nope.avi. My A4Tech MK-610 I'm using right now are better .

It's funny. Everyone's saying that the iPhone/iPod headphones rock. I tried them... they're meh. I mean, I got used to in-ear headphones... all other headphones that are normal, not in-ear (like the iPhone ones, for example)... I feel like they're hurting my ear, lol.
The sound quality was pretty nice... although not as crisp as with the in-ears I'm using (naturally).
I'm planning to buy a pair of those headphones for my girlfriend, actually. She doesn't like in-ears. Also, those iPhone headphones have a mic, and it worked with every Android device I tried, so...
Her pair of original HTC headphones got... f***ed up. Left headphone leaks current, rofl.
In my opinion...all the headphones I got with Samsung devices SUCKED...
Extremely poor sound, uncontrolled, random bass boosts and drops... They're definitely not for the audiophile, but more for the conversationalist, who wants to clearly hear the person on the end of the line when...say...driving or walking down the street.
The ultimate sound I was able to get out of my Note was through Sennheiser CX 400 in-ear headphones, along with Power Amp (and a few tweaks there). I'm betting it's even better with something like Sennheiser IE8's, but those are pretty pricey

Scribbled from my Note coupled with the best (CleaNote) ROM and (NoteCore) kernel by g.lewarne
My headphones broke so I was forced to jar these before I brought some more.
At first I was cringing at how poor they were, especially as the stock ROM output such poor quality sound.
I forced myself to listen to them and can confirm that they burn in an incredible amount, its like they are a different pair of earphones. The highs are tighter and the mid range has improved a lot. The bass is ok if you get a good fit, and I found if you get some good eq setting on power amp it does a world of good.
IM at the stage now whether I think I need new headphones, I listened to some burned in audio technica m50s and they didn't have the pronounced treble these have, although the bass was tighter.
I've owned shure and klipsch earphones before and although they're not as good as the shures, they're probably not far off the klipsch right now.
The added bonus of a built in Mic and controls is also really useful

I was so offended that they were white. My SGS2 stock headphones were black. I had to buy a black headphones just so no one would confuse me from having an iPhone from a far. Apple can suck my Note.
IMO, any and all stock headphones people get are an excuse by the manufacturer for throwing something in. The regular person might say otherwise (that is, if they're not serious about their audio, i'd be more than happy to agree with them) but to these tin ears, they suck a**. Whatever I get gets thrown in an old shoe box with 10-odd pieces and counting. They never get used. Ever. Good to hear. I wasn't expecting anything high end, just a level of quality that complements that of the phone. I thought the buds that came with the NS4G were awful; muddy lows, and no real highs. Not to mention they were broken within a couple months.

Look likes they went with off branded beats style. Since they have licensing I wonder if the price point from beats was too expensive.
I like my Shure SE530's - upgraded them from my SE500 from a few years back. A little bit better but a little brighter than my SE500's. Of course I need to stream music to them for a couple of days continuously to break them in.
Beats Audio is overhyped plastic bits with weak drivers and horrible fidelity.
But then again good sound is subjective. I love FLAC and can hear the difference and most of my friends can't hear it until I make them listen to to non-FLAC and FLAC and they are like OH WOW. But they will usually say that for what they want out of headphones/earphones the basics are okay.
It's all personal taste.
I'm glad to know that these are not the beats buds...T-Mobile does not include the ear buds and I was bummed out, but if they are just regular ear buds then I'm cool, I'm not missing out.

I'm using klipsch image s4's they isolate sound great and have an amazing fit in the ear highly recommend them, sound great with the one.
Hi all,
Anyone brought a new Galaxy S4's HS330 for their S3?
I just did, and I'm horrified by the sound quality. I play through my favourite playlist and everything sounded so muffled. My old S3 headphone was so much crisper and clear.
If anyone managed to get it to sound good, please share how tuned your phone?
Thanks.
Use an Equalizer.

Try Poweramp, they can even make the crappy Skullcandy ear buds I have lying around sound better than decent.
Mine work fine, I love the HS330. Are you an audiophile perhaps ?

I don't think I can consider myself as one...
Are you using the HS330 with a Samsung S3?
It was such a big drop in quality to me. Very disappointed after reading all the good reviews about it online!

Yeah, I'm using the HS330 with Comply foam earbuds and I'm getting great quality.
If you have an i9300, get a kernel that has a hardware equalizer like Googy Max. Software equalizers like what Poweramp has produce noise and at higher volumes, extra distortion.
I would not call myself an audiophile, as I listen to 320k mp3s on $18 Jlab J5s.

How much you bought it actually? I also bought one which around MYR25 (approx. 7.5USD) the same quality as you though. My original headset came with my phone was better than it 1000x times. So I think I have been lied and this is not the authentic ones. Better buy from Samsung store...
