i don't know which rom to flash, my battery is reallycrappy and lasts around 12 hours, i've flashed the .211 pre rooted update. I'm on a locked bootlader, any suggestions on roms with good battery life will be appreciated

On a locked bootloader?
Sent from my TVR powered Xperia S via transwarp conduit.
U need custom kernel for custom ROMs. Stock kernel only supports stock ROM.
I use Trinity's ROM, it has a nice battery life (though I use custom kernel, i don't know if it will have much difference without it)
You can use Greenify to hibernate apps, it helps a lot.
Why not unlock bootloader?
U can relock it if you want.

My bootloader is permanently locked and I have tried trinity rom are there any more?

I get a pretty amazing battery life on iHackers MIUI v5 ROM, and it is butter smooth. However, I think its for unlocked boot loader :/

Check Trinity's ROM. So far so good for me..
MIUI v5 is good but not smooth as Stock based JB.
Snapdragon BatteryGuru
Try Snapdragon BatteryGuru (download google play store). It runs an all devices with snapdragon hardware. It learns automatically and battery life could be much better.
FreeXperiaProject FXP228 - my favorit rom
because of the possibility to manually control the brightness of the display i was able to double battery life.

Made battery drain much much worse for me. JuiceDefender is still my best app for that. Add Greenify and you're golden.

I agree, I've been ROM hopping and FreeXperia 228 has been the best so far in battery consumption. Also MIUI in Battery > Power Saving mode is pretty good. I've noticed a significant battery life improvement by using a firewall iptables via a firewall app like AFWall+ and just limiting apps that you know for sure that shouldn't need access to data.
afwall! is realy good. free, simple, effectiv. thanks.

Any Debloated Stock rom (just keep extended batery mode on)
or any Debloated non Stock ROM (usualy slimmer than stock but need unlocked bootloader)
id suggest my own team XCP rom but you might not like it so i Suggest you look around and try some out
Install custom kernel and add greenify.

Stock is too good. But with root only.
Custom ROMs are already modyfied and that's save you to modify stock rom.
So they all good...but biggest differents is "do you want make all work yourself, or you take someone already done this hard work"

IMHO both is good
stock rom have better battery life, xloud, and SE UI is cool !
custom rom(cm7) is good(better camera, themes support) but battery life not good as se stock rom.
i still prefer stock rom
Thanks guys!!

Interm of game, stock are better in performance.
I have trying other rom cm7.1, miui, games run smoother on stock.
Without rooting.

Stock --> Stable, all functions working properly.
Custom--> Though stable, not all functions and hardware of your phone will work until implemented.

well for me stock is good with better camera than cm7 rather than what tyrand3 stated...have xloud and bravia engine..but will lag if more and more of usage and app download...im using cm7 right now, and all the lag is gone with the overclocked and system optimization. but no radio....
the theming is great and i customize it to be as perfect as i can..my friend have arc to, and they using stock rather than me but my arc is stand out than most of them....still have batery drain issue though but stock isnt much better either...
its all up to you..you can try to root and use the different rom that has been built, if you dont like it you can change back to stock rom...the guide is all in here if your interested....

I've gone for the best of both at the moment...
Stock ROM: stable, no faults, looks quite pretty!
DoomKernel: rooted, overclocking, extra features
Until CM7 develops some more and has all the features of the stock ROM as a MINIMUM, I won't be changing from what I've got now .
CM 7 is far good than stock rom in speed, there is no lag like stock rom
but no radio
Previously Gameloft games was not running smoothly, now problem solved
More internal memory and all apps are now downloaded at sd so no more out of memory notification..themes are great, right now i'm using ICS theme, it's cool..
Missing one feature Facebook calendar sync....
Xperia Arc 2.3.4
ROM-CM7
Theme-ICS
---------- Post added at 11:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:43 AM ----------
Use CM7 for Speed
Use Stock for features
Which one do you like????
Xperia ARC 2.3.4
ROM-CM7
Theme-ICS
1.4Ghz O.C
I also really like se stock rom (for a change)
And as already said stock rom is good only with root.
My opinion stock with root and new kernel is all that is needed

SE Tweaked v0.7 is super smooth with all stock features. Teamed with Doomkernel it is blindingly fast or with Blendkernel for smoothness and good battery. I have tried CM7 and SE Tweaked is better if only because you still get the Bravia engine.

No probs. I was one of the first to try SE Tweaked V0.1 and saw the improvement there over stock. I had a go with the first three weeklies from the FXP team and thought that they are doing a great job but the one thing I couldn't get over was how dull the display looked. That is why I am back with your ROM and V0.7 is really really good. I have OC'd to 1.6gHz and I must say the Arc is completely lag free and very fast with a super bright display.

For me, stock rom + DooMKerneL is the best combo
smallest size and arguably fastest to use / navigate is cola rom
it looks plain. no fancy UI or features.
has battery % bar to if you need it

This.
Highly recommended. Great battery life too
I'm using darkforest rc2 and I'm loving it. Has alot of the bloatware rubbish removed and has a nice ICS theme pre installed. It also can be used with the stock kernel as it's based on stock. So if I'm not mistaken there is no need for an unlocked bootloader. But that's also true of the cola RoM already mentioned.

I wanna know what's the best mix of custom kernel and custom rom that is battery efficient out there right now. Currently I am using DoomLord's kernel v11 and T.E.A.M. rom but my battery drains fast and I have tried several battery saver and task killer combinations and just manage to come up with -2.36%/hour battery usage(wifi turned off). Are there tweaks/tips for a stable underclocking and undervolting procedure? Currently I'm underclocked to 921.600 with -50mv on all frequencies/voltage settings. Need some expert advice thanks
Well I am using the stock rom and doomkernel over clocked to 1516 and it keeps the battery going all day with normal usage.

Some expert advice is to get rid of taskkillers!
Who's the expert that said that? GOOGLE (not the search engine, the Android developer team)

I use CM10.1 (JB 4.2.2) by Olddroid and with some tweaks that I made (froze some system apps and disabled autostart entries) I got 185MB of free RAM when I boot into Android. And I can tell you that it works flawlessly. On my phone it's faster than stock Android ROM. And don't bother benchmark scores. They don't always indicate that your system is slow.
For my is AOKP jb-mr1 (jb+) by erikcas http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173572
Very stable, is my every day rom
Which bugs or problems do they have guys?

You can face some camera, radio, headphone, usb or some stability issues with other ROMs but the one that I use doesn't have any of 'em. With normal use, my standard battery lasts after 2 days.

I froze all the apps that I don't use. When I boot my phone, it uses only about 90-95 MB of RAM and by the way I'm using a Jelly Bean (4.2.2) ROM. I also prevented apps from running in the background so they don't drain my battery's juice. I underclocked the CPU to 748 MHz and selected smartassv2 & SIO.
I'm using stock battery.
I used Autostarts and System Tuner apps to make all that tweaks. Be careful. Don't disable Fused Location, System UI and Android System.
Hey well I'm not sure this is it but it would seem as though my xPlay drains a bit faster than it would on Stock with locked bootloader...again this isn't for sure but it seems like it, is this possible?
By Gin2Jellybean I mean the 2.3.7 GB. Maybe I can try different roms?

Just use ES Task Manager and disabled app that you do not want to use..
No dont do that as the apps will just reopen eating ram and wasting battery, to save battery underclock or try a non heavily themed rom
