creating an album(folder) in the Album(Stock Gallery) app - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

How can i create or view the pictures as with their respective folder structure in the stock albums app in my sony Xperia S(Has the recently released Jelly Bean-4.1.2).
There are two tabs in the app - "pictures & my Albums".
Can i create or view them as a folder in - pictures tab ?
I figured out that the images are displayed with their folder name in the - my albums -> internal memory. But every time i need to dig in to get there.
So please suggest a solution for either
creating a folder in pictures tab
or a shortcut for the internal memory folder

You can use stock jelly bean gallery app. It shows photos with their folders.

[Q] ICS Gallery

Several ics revs back I could open the gallery app and it would only show folders with picture files in them. I also had the option to hide folders. Now when I open gallery, it goes and if a folder has any apk's in them it will display the icon picture as well. Well I have a folder with my apk's backed up so it is showing a bunch of icons in addition to my own picture folder. I cannot hide them either. Does this happen to anybody else? I do have the option to delete them. If I delete them, will it just remove them from the album and not delete the actual file?
Do u have an app backup apk downloaded?

You can put a "." In front of the folder name , no "'s to hide that folder, I know thats not the answer you wanted, but hope it helps.

Way to choose location the gallery loads media from???

As in, I don't want movies to show up. I also don't want folders with icons showing up. I've also had beautiful Widgets themes I have downloaded show up. Its very cluttered

If you use quickpic you have an option on folders to not show media from that location (basically puts a .nomedia file in the folder). I don't know about just removing video from a folder though.

1. Use something like Root Explorer (or just Explorer) and browse to the folders that contain these files, and inside them create a new file called:
.nomedia
(including the . at the beginning of the file name)
2. Now go into Gallery and force a Refresh from the menu. If that doesn't work, move on to #3
3. Go to Settings | Apps | All and do the following for Gallery and Media Storage:
Force Stop
Clear Cache
Clear Data
4. Reboot your phone.
Bear in mind, if you have custom ringtones/notifications set (meaning, files/sounds that are not stock) clearing cache/data for Media Storage will "break" them, you will just have to reconfigure them.
Using cm file manager, if you go into the folder in question, you can go into menu, and it gives an option to select exclude from media search, and auto adds the .no media file. After which refreshing the gallery yeilds no results. Tried step 3...which led to nothing being included, and no media being recognised in play music either. /cry

[Q] How Hidden some album on Galaxy Note 2

hi guys...
i have problem on my gallery in galaxy note 2
when i go to my gallery all photo in albums like viber image & whats app &music cover photo other show in my gallery
but i want see only camera gallery or my pic i put in internal storage... not viber .. whats app... cover music and...
how can i do it?! any body help me?! plz
thanks a lot
sorry for my bad english:cyclops:
You need to put a file named .nomedia in the folders you don't want Gallery to index!
Download it from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?xqjjytzzznz
Copy it to your phone and please note that it's a hidden file (because the name starts with a period) so use a file manager in "show hidden files" mode!
Then just copy that file into all the folders you want excluded from the gallery.
Then reboot.
Make empty text file and give it a name .nomedia , copy that file i folder wich you want to hide from gallery app

Thanks, it was really annoying having all music images showing in my gallery.
Hi,
You should call the image of the album (or the artist) "folder.jpg" and put it in the directory where the songs are (hope I express myself right...). That way none will show up in the gallery but any media reader will use it when you play the track.

How to mov pics to Note 2 Gallery new album to default to extsdcard?

Right now my settings for photos are to ext sd but I noticed when I try to reorganize my photos using gallery creat new album and moving photos, the new album and accompanying photos go to internal storage. How do I set new albums to default to external?
2. If I create a new directory in extSdCard dcim directory , I notice the gallery needs to be restarted and creates duplicate album entries in gallery.
How does i create an album on ext card to move pics there in gallery?

I would like to know this aswell. I find the gallery to be very unorganised.
Folders from dropbox and google and camera and external sd card and so on and so on..
Select all,Copy/Paste to a newly created folder on the external SD card.
hi Hagba
I did that using Solid Explorer. Create a folder, select the pics and move.
Then when I launch Gallery, it actually creates 2 duplicate albums (one with a SD icon and one without) showing duplicate photos.
It's a weird quirk.
I moved all my albums to extSDcard using solid explorer and quickpic and when I use Gallery , it shows duplicate albums (one with the SD icon and one without).
Does your gallery show the albums moved to Extcard correctly without a duplicate?

As the poster above said I used the stock My File application,Selected all the pictures and pasted to a folder I have created on the External Card and after that DELETED the empty original folder from the internal storage card,so no I have no duplicate issue. .

Gallery

Whenever I open the gallery, all of the artwork from my mp3s is mixed in with the my pictures. This makes it next to impossible to find something quickly. Is there an easy way to organize them out or hide them without clicking each individual picture? This seems very dumb. My iphone, nor any other phone I've ever used does this. Thoughts?
In your music folder, put an empty text file with the filename 'nomedia' (without the quotation marks and file extention). Then in settings > apps > gallery , select clear data.

Sorry for being dense, but the hierarchical structure you listed doesn't work.
Did you mean setting>general(tab)>apps?....if so "gallery" isn't listed there. If I go into gallery and try to move the photos, it just randomly moves them around.....no labels or anything. I don't understand. Do I need to go into my windows explorer on my pc to adjust the folders?....that seems dumb that you can't easily do it from the phone.

It normally has to be done on the computer I believe but it might not let the android media scanner find your music or use the pictures for album artwork. I honestly I just use QuickPic and it has the options to hide(.no media) and exclude folders and I just select exclude folders from my main music folder so it doesn't include them.

Hi!
Yes i meant setting>general(tab)>apps. Under apps if you scroll horizontally u will find gallery under 'ALL' tab.
In order to move files, folders or any other operation to a file or folder, you need to use a file manager app. There are different file managers available for android. Personally i use ES file manager. A pretty good app called just File Manager is already there in G Pro. You can use it to manage your folders.
As jesi.james above pointed out putting the .nomedia (sorry i missed the '.' before nomedia in my previous post) file in your music folder will hide the album arts from the gallery but it will hide the music files from the music player as well. I am sorry i wasnt aware of that. i do not store my music on my phone. I listen to it from play music.
To solve your problem, i found that there is an option in the gallery menu to hide/show albums. You can choose the albumd you do not want to see in your gallery. If you have a large music collection, you will have to select the albums one by one. Frustrating.
Next option is to use Quickpic. This is a very good alternative to the default gallery and it gives you options to select folders you want show or hide in quickpic as mentioned by the guy above.
