How do get access to the Field Test Mode? I don't mean *#0011#. This only displays the current network status. I'd like get LTE only mode and stuff like that.

Dial *#*#4636*#*# go under phone, and scroll down and select the mode you want then reboot.

Bell phones have blocked Download mode... no way to access it the way others do.
Is this directed at the phones that seem to have 3-button-combo recovery/download modes disabled?

Ugh as said a billion times, this still doesn't fix certain phones.
Some are really fubar. Others like mine can get into download mode with some magic.

Not that this method worked for me to get into recovery, but if your phone won't even show a battery icon when connected to the pc... then I doubt there's any way to get into recovery.
Well I've got download mode, so I'm good.... just have to go through extra steps if I want to restore after a bad flash or something.
All good intentions aside, we need a dedicated thread listing the 500 different ways to get into download/recovery mode so that posters can read through, give it a go and see that it will not work for all phones. Just some that are lucky.
I tried to root my sgs3 today and wasn't paying attention and used the wrong guide. I used the stuff for the non-us phones. Now when I turn my phone on, the only thing that shows up is "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I've tried using kies to reset it but I had never used it previously so it is unable to connect to the phone. It basically has 2 states now, off and the one described. is there any way to fix this?
Try flashing the stock firmware using Odin and then root your phone(with the correct guide this time )

how do i use odin? ive been trying to find something on how to fix this for most of the night and ive seen a couple places where it says that but when i ask how they say to go to the download thing and i cant get to that anymore. is there another way use it?
Enter download mode by pressing the three keys power button+home key+volume down.
If it doesnt work enter recovery mode by pressing power button+ home key+volume up
And if both won't work you might have to use a usb jig

id much rather not wait the several days for shipping. i would love to get it fixed tonight but if i cant my friend said he should be able to force a factory reset using command prompt or something

listen to what people are saying to you. go into download mode. Your phone turns on and it should be able to go into download mode now. I wouldn't mess with command prompt if i were you or your friend. Once your in download mode download the stock image for your carrier and the correct phone model and flash it through odin

Pull the batter and put it back after a few seconds, then press and hold power, home, and volume down until the custom os warning screen appears. Then press volume up to confirm download mode and use Odin to flash.

Just to clear things up. When the device says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." It is putting itself into download mode and you should see the normal download mode text at the top of the screen to clarify "Product Name, Custom Binary, ETC". The previous posters are correct, you must flash via odin. Follow the guide here very carefully and it should be fixed.

Remember the recovery screen you are seeing IS download mode so pretend you already put the phone in download mode and follow it from there.

Turn off your device then hold power and volume down until it boots into download mode. Release the buttons as soon as it starts to boot.

His terminology is definitely confusing. Download mode is only on Samsung devices. He can't be referring to EDL mode as it's essentially useless for us. So he must be looking to get into the bootloader.

Yeah, kinda figured that. I know we can access DL mode, but like you said, it's useless for us :good:
It's fine guys, I fixed it by myself after an hour of hard time. It seems that my usb went on and off while I was using the command "adb sideload" with TWRP. The installation cancels by itself because of that. Now everytime is fine. Thanks to you guys for replying.

I did a reboot and its fine...mybe you can try multiole reboots if it works

It won't start even after multiple reboots.
I had to restart it by pressing and holding the home button until it restarts then pressing 3 times home button in order to access boot menu and go for recovery mode. After that watch has been successfully recovered and working on the flashed firmware.
It is weird but it works. If attempting to flash it again same issue comes up but after proceeding to a recovery mode it works again.

i bought an A52s from ebay which is on retail demo mode. i managed to take the demo mode off however the phone doesnt have the playstore installed, cannot factory reset via settings menu or hard reset.
whenever i try to instal the playstore apk, it would install fine and then fail to launch.
Why don't you flash latest stock firmware with Odin?

i have two imei's and they both show in teh settings. it also accepts my sim.

It has to be connected on pc via the usb cable to go into recovery mode. Volume up + power button.
volume down + power button for Download mode & odin.

nope. i have all the other options, apart from factory reset. its very bizarre
same thing happened to me but in another country, my imei show 0000 and the phone is rooted can it be fixed to usable phone?

Have you tried turning the phone off, then press volume up and down at same time and connect USB to PC. That should boot you into recovery.

found something called Frija, looks to be doing its job at the moment
managed to succesfully flash a stock rom,. however, the KNOX software looks like its preventing anything from being installed, even preventing the wallpaper from being changed.
any other suggestions before i start an ebay return?

I read about broken EFS unfortunately I dont have it backed up, is there a way to extract it from phone and repartition it to fix the cellular? One chinese person who messaged me offered me help, then asked 150 for the fix when I told him I would think about it he tried something on my device, he then ghosted my messages.
I read somewhere that tools like chimera can help fix this?

I don't know if it works or not because I never had a case where i had to repair my IMEI. Give it a try
