Does anyone know if you can unlock the bootloader on the zl from Rogers? Thanks
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
From what I know, at the moment if your phone in the service menu says "Bootloader unlock allowed = No" then there is currently no way to unlock it. ...at least for the moment.
Mine is from Rogers and it cannot be unlocked. I'm sure its the same for every other Rogers and Bell phone.
Do you know if there are any devs working to hack the "Bootloader unlock allowed = No" to be "Yes"?

I would guess that there will be a bootloader exploit created before anyone is able to change the unlocked allow status. I know there has been some discussion about possible bootloader exploits but I don't know if anyone is actively working on it. As far as I know no one has cracked a Sony bootloader on any phones from 2012 onward.
Oh ok, thank you for your informative post. Its quite unfortunate no progress has been made to exploit the bootloader since Sony phones from 2012.

I know that the bootloader of defy is locked. I ve heard that Quarx is going to unlock it in the next version!!! Is it real??
Has anyone unocked the bootloader?????
Bootloaders can be unlocked usually by brute force method..... If the bootloader of defy is unlocked then its great news not only for defy users but for other moto users as it will help break the encryption of other phones.
NAH!!
What you tell is rooting........I m asking about unlocking it permanently...!!!!
nope its about bootloaders only.. Lol if its unlocked its unlocked.
Rooting is just a simple process of granting user access to restricted parts of the software.
A bootloader is different. Its the first thing that starts and it activates the kernel after checking and matching the kernel...like a security pass. Sorry if i am wrong but this is a general idea and i am not wellversed with this knowledge..
How can quarcx unlock the bootloader? What would be the benefit, we have 2ndinit.

he is not going to unlock the bootloader.
the french gay just found an bug in the bootloader, it doesn't check the signature in some specific condition.
Quarx is going to use it to make the cm7 in the form of sbf.
this action doesn't means he can unlock the bootloader and do everything he wants.

is there ANY way that xperia arc s newer then 12w19 can be sim unlocked??
Purchasing code or..??
Can cellunlocker unlock it?
Atm no, I think.

If you're not locked to any carrier, I don't see any reason why not.
Have you tried the official Sony unlock method? Your other option is via the testpoint method.

My bad, I didn't wrote sim locked..
It's carrier locked, and sim-lock is there for 24 months, the problem is I bought it in another country and in my country that carrier doesn't exist..
So the question is edited, can it be sim-unlocked (bootloader is irrelevant)
Then you'll need to use the Testpoint method. Contact Jinx13 or Alejandrissimo. They should be able to unlock it for you remotely for a small fee. Or use Omnius (again Paid).
And no, there's no free method to unlock your phone. But trust me, it's worth it.
Hope that helped. Cheers!
I already did contact jinx and he told me that if it's 12w14 or newer he can't unlock it :S
I'm not looking for a free method, I'm looking for a working method...
Off topic: Is it worth upgrading to ICS?
Damn, then you may be out of luck. Do ask around though.
And upgrading to ICS. Well, I have upgraded to the Generic Global World 4.0.4 and I must say I like it. My only issue is that my touchscreen isn't AS responsive as it was on GB.
There are others who couldn't/can't stand ICS and reverted back to GB after a few days with ICS. They felt that it lagged too much compared to GB etc etc.
To each his own. But I like ICS; that's just my opinion.
Cheers!
is there ANY other way?
is there anyone that has Emma and a working account and can remove the sim lock?
Also can these pay sites unlock it?
maybe fastgsm
I was looking for the exact same thing and found that fastgsm.com can unlock it with network codes.
It seems that we cannot currently unlock this phone model with our data cable method if the manufacturing date is later than 12W13, please contact [email protected] and ask for a refund. It would be possible to unlock this phone via Network codes, if there are unlock attempts left, for $59.99.

Good day to everyone and sorry to revive this thread, but i didn't want to ask a question that's been asked before so while searching the forums for cellunlocker.net i found this thread.
Is there anybody out there who got their arc S(new security manufacturing date 12w26) unlocked by purchasing the code via IMEI method for 39,99$?

There is no known solution for disabled fastboot cases yet (Bootloader unlock allowed: No), as phones manufactured after 12W11 have enchanced type of security, for which there is no exploit yet.

It might remove the SIM-lock (I am not sure, which code you mean right now), but it will not enable fastboot and will not allow bootloader to be unlocked.

Would you at least bother mentioning your methods for this? Considering you haven't been around on this forum for long, I doubt any of your methods actually unlocks the bootloader.

Hi,
Thanks, i see there: http://www.fastgsm.com/en/sonyerics...-unlock-codes/network-unlock/flashing-debrand
Unlock codes. I read a lot, and i figured out that Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No means that fastboot disabled due to simlock..so if there's no simlock on the phone, the no changes to YES, so can unlock simply..If unlock allowed YES, then everyone successfully unlocked the bootloader in this forums. Am i wrong somewhere?

It does remove the SIM-lock, but fastboot is still disabled. Removing the SIM-lock does not activate fastboot nor does it change Bootloader Unlock Allowed to Yes.
Hi all,
See this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2737846
Hi,
I have recently unlocked my Xperia S.(removed simlock by unlock code from o2)
However I want to unlock my bootloader now.
Of course I can't, when I access the service menu it says bootloader unlock allowed: NO.(Probably because of my carrier o2)
So my question is, what should I do next? Contact Sony? Or is my phone never going to be able, to get unlocked?
Thanks in advance

I have the same thing with ny DoCoMo Acro HD (S). YOu will probably never, ever, be able to unlock the BL. Just like I can't. Sorry.
The only way is to go to O2, get them to agree to unlock your BL (if you can find a member of O2 staff who knows what a locked BL is...), then you will have to send your phone away to a Sony service centre, as it's not something you can do with a code. Only a Sony engineer can do it.
So, there you go. It's unlikely you can unlock your BL. Sorry. I haven't even tried.....

when I used o2 live chat and asked for help, he told me to go aks sony because he can't help.
Sony told me that they can't help me either
Is there any illegal way of unlocking it?

You cannot unlock your bootloader if it says NO. Never.

If O2 won't help you, then no. It's the only way. But chances of O2 staff having any idea what you are talking about is slim to none. Stock answer is to tell you to contact Sony.

I know how you feel.....I brought my phone outright, and never had a DoCoMo contract, but 'cos it's branded, I'll never get it unlocked. Gutted, mush.
Of course it is possible to unlock the bootloader, even when it is in NO state.
When S1 Server was available that was done on many phones.
If you unlocked your phone legaly you have to contact your network and they have to send phone to Sony Service, only they can do it.
i heard that it isn't possible to unlock the bootloader after the date 12w11.. mine is built in 12w36 so no way to unlock the bootloader.
if i use this video (unlocking via testpoint) it works? Because in description is standing if there is standing bootloader unlock allowed: no you have to root it at first!?
mine is rooted and there is still standing no so can i unlock my phone with testpoint!?
A friend has the xperia arc (lt15i) and a guy from Handybörse (so it's called in germany) unlocked his bootloader but at phone were standing 12w24 !?
i dont know how he unlocked it but it works and before there were standing no and now there is standing yes??
So i can unlock my lt18i with this video (sorry its in german but i think everybody know what this programm is and what it means)??
Thank you guys
Hope for fast answers!!

No, you are one of the unlucky ones, who can not unlock bootloader at all.
Removing sim-lock/branding does not allow you to unlock your phone, because fastboot is disabled and only way to enable is via test point method, which is impossible at the moment for the phones manufactured 12W11.
ohhhhhh...
but it worked at the arc from a friend...
there was standing unlock allowed no and he disabled sim/netlock and there stand bootloader unlock allowed yes..
manufactor at 12w14 :/
so i dont know

the bootloader isnt the problem. but i want to flash any kernel to overclock my phone. but i think this isnt possible on my device so ill forget it. i dont want a better android version. i only want to use my gingerbread roms faster and use all of them. thats why..
im happy enough if i can flash kernel
But to flash custom kernel, you need to unlock your boot loader, which is impossible unless you get rid of the carrier lock.

I have a rooted ZL. The bootloader is showing as unlockable: No
Why, when sony even provides instructions on unlocking bootloaders, are some phones not unlockable?
Educate me!
same here..

It's not Sony, it's blocked by carrier network. It cannot be unlocked through any software, as its linked to chipset

So the carrier locks at two levels? I unlocked the carrier with a code but you are saying that the bootloader is locked by them as well?
Phone was locked to bell Canada. I unlocked it and run on Rogers now.

You can unlock network but not boot loader. Because it's hard coded. Reason behind this is that is something happens to the phone it would be difficult to replace it. There are people who would unlock boo loader at some price. I'm not sure.
