So... we are we waiting for? (CM ROM) - LG Optimus G Pro

I feel like thecubed posted a tutorial on how to make a CM based ROM.
So why do we not have a ROM developer that is maintaining one?
Maybe I need to start developing

Yes I am dying to get some aosp on this beast. I just don't have the equipment to build a ROM. Hopefully the development picks up soon because I'm very eager to start flashing.

His guide was to build a non-flashable kernel and recovery. If you aren't going to develop quit complaining that you shouldn't have gotten this phone.

LG Optimus G Pro (LG-E980)
HP Touchpad (Tenderloin)
Previous Devices:
Samsung Galaxy SII (SGH-i777)

I don't think he said he shouldn't have got this phone. He was just asking if anyone was working on anything and he said he was thinking about developing. I'm not sure why that offends u.

Wow, I was posting a harmless question. I'm not sure why you have to act so immature. I'm sorry that I support developers, and you do not.

Take it easy fellas, mods hate this kind of behavior

Support for the g pro is continuously getting better... Now that CM 10.1 is fully working, we will have all the other AOSP based Roms slowly coming in.... I see Slimbean and PAC already..others must be on the way...never a better time to own the G pro..dive in

Petition to LG

We all know now about the up and coming Nexus 5, which LG is again the manufacturer. It will be launch (according to rumor) with the latest Android version 4.4 or was it 5(?) called KitKat.
The G2 is very much here. 4.2 out-of-the-box with all it's niceties.
Now we, GPro user/owner probably wondering what LG's instore for our neglected capable device. We're still on 4.1 and should be on 4.2 by now. And one could even ask if we could still see the light with 4.3, much more with KitKat.
Will a petition be of any help from GPro user to send LG a clear voice demanding support from them? Will they listen thinking that we're just small in number?
The GPro was my first LG (smart)phone and really have no idea how they are with support. Was LG notoriously sucks with updates?
Will a PETITION work?

Don't get your hopes too high, mate. They're making some really good phones, but unfortunately, they've chosen to stick to their "no update" policy. They've abandoned the Optimus G, just like they've abandoned other flagships before. The same's the case with the G Pro. As it's going to be with the G2, too. I've been really tempted by the G Pro (LG, in my opinion, have the best displays of the lot), but seeing their poor record of updates, it makes me think twice.

You didn't do too much research if you have to ask that. Combine LG's propensity to not release updates with AT&T's 6 month vetting process after its released and you can pretty much expect that nothing north of 4.2.2 will ever hit the G Pro. I'd assume once the G2 is out for 60 days there will be a 4.2.2 International G Pro update then maybe 90 days to 6 months later an AT&T update. By then no one will care and the device will have already been EOL'ed.
If you want a newer Android version on a non Nexus phone you're going to have to flash them with a ROM. Its a sad state of affairs for the Android eco-system but at least there's an upgrade path of some sort, even if its manual.
from what I know, LG has always been very very slow with update.
Better sit and wait for it. I don't think we will be forgotten.
Read this:
LG : Just like Samsung, LG hasn't issued any official release regarding updates but since Nexus 4 is getting one, it is safe to assume that others will follow suit. Remember Optimus G is very similar to Nexus 4 on the insides. The following LG devices may get updated soon.
Optimus G
Optimus G Pro
LG Optimus L7 2 Dual
Optimus G2

There arn mucht different in JB. 4.2.2 its bugs with change files management. The 4.3 GE dont work w some games.
4.2+ finally handles group sms correctly. Not sure why it's taken this long but it's much needed.

One of my favorite books ever is Harry Browne's How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World. In it, he talks about "direct actions" and "indirect actions." Direct actions involve doing something to get what you want. Indirect actions involve trying to change someone else's mind so they'll give you what you want. Direct actions are usually quicker, easier and more reliable.
This proposed petition is a perfect example of the difference. We can either spend a lot of time and effort putting together a petition hoping to change LG's mind in a month or two, or we can just root and flash on our own and have the newest OS (4.3) today.
5 cents, please.

PAC 4.4 Announcement

Some announcements from our G+ page:
EDIT: Check our homepage (http://pac-rom.com) for the countdown until release.
PAC 4.4
For those wondering when PAC-man 4.4 nightlies will start up...Within a week is the answer you are all looking for. We are putting the final touches on things as I write this. If you haven't noticed here are some of the things that we are doing.
1. Our new updated gerrit http://review.pac-rom.com/#/q/status:open,n,z
2. Our new pac forums http://forum.pac-rom.com/ This will be used to house all of pac roms for now on. We will still have threads on xda that are supported but the links in each thread will be redirected to the new pac forum. Why are we doing this...well mainly because we ( the pac core devs) will be monitoring and answering as many questions as possible and this is easier done in one place instead of trying to monitor threads spread all over xda.
3. http://changelog.pac-rom.com this is pacs newest changelog. It is done automagically thanks to pvyparts magic dust. Here you will be able to see all downloads, changes, and updates to the PAC source code.
4 DIBS this is our Distributed Build System. This is used to build all pac nightlies and it needs help. Please see here for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2580514
and here to see how many servers we have running right now www.pac-rom.com/#Dashboard We are looking to have upwards of 20+ servers running at full strength so that nightly builds are done as fast as possible.
Please stop asking for eta's as I have now given you a small glimpse and told you within the next week you shall see the best pac has to offer.

PIC
https://github.com/Pinky-Inky-and-Clyde
Introducing PIC. This is PAC's version of TheMuppets. We will support all devices including legacy devices which CM does not support. This git will accept commits as fast as we can test them. We auto-merge on a set time multiple times a day from TheMuppets for now to stay as up to date as possible for now. Please feel free as a user/dev team/ other rom group/or whatever to use this git to your full advantage. Please send pull requests for legacy devices.
Enjoy and welcome to the new PAC

Woo! :highfive:
Been waiting for this
I have Motorola RAZR and I have a lot of free time to upgrade or make a custom rom but don't know how to do it? Thank you..
I have an expressatt (which I think I also just messed up the rom on, running CM11) and would love to be a maintainer, but I also have no experience in porting roms to unsupported devices
Good news !
Is the pac_jflteatt-nightly-20140128.zip in http://pacman.basketbuild.com/index.php?dir=main/jflteatt/nightly/ 4.3 or the new 4.4?
That is a 4.3 build, pac-4.4 has not been released yet

the i9505 is still jfltexx but most roms now come over a generic "jflte" which incorporates all variotions of the s4 in one place.... so anywhere you see JFLTE it is good to go on your s4!!

[Q] Some questions about E975

First to say hello!
Im using Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 for about year and half and I decided to change phone. My first choice was Nexus4 but i prefer Optimus G due to bigger internal memory, better camera, hardware buttons(back, home and menu)...
So my question is: does the Optimus G E975 have released source codes like Nexus 4 ?
I9100 doesn't have released source codes so coustom roms for s2 are good but we doesn't have proper hardware acceleration(project butter) and FM radio and some other stuffs on AOSP roms.
I have read somewhere that E975 can use sources from Nexus 4 and they works as it should, is that true? I like to flash custom roms and this thing is very important for me
Anyone?
Seems that optimus g community is way smaller than i9100 community

Developer Preview had been released. That's what they have been porting over to other devices.
The phone doesn't have any similarities other than being from the same company. It will be very hard to port something like that**

If they got it from N5 to G, then the possibilities (with great devs) are pretty limitless.
They didn't get it from the nexus 5, they got it from the nexus 4 that got it from the nexus 5. The nexus 4 and optimus G are soo close together as far as internals that there is a mod that you can change an optimus G to a nexus 4 (as far as software). Where you can actually flash nexus 4 roms onto a Optimus G. Which is why that phone is able to get android L because it's fairly easy to port to.
This phone is great but it has little devwork (yet). So I wouldn't expect a port at all because by the time development really starts android L will already be out.

Optimus G to Nexus 4 link.
Also most of the variants of the LG G3 bootloaders are locked with no solution yet. So things are going to be slow until then as well. As of now it's only the international and that's not enough to spark things.

Ah OK that makes more sense. But the BL's are very close to being unlocked, according to autoprimes Twitter, so hopefully soon!

I have to agree with misterowl, I'd doubt it for a while at least. I mean, we don't even have AOSP/CM/PA yet, so a L port is almost out of the question. But damn, Id love a Cm port. that would be nice.

I'm sure when everything is situated you don't have to wish for a CM port because we'll probably have official support due to it being a current flagship.

I hope your right. Even though stock LG rom isn't terribly bad, I do miss my Aokp.
lets first get AOSP 4.4.2, then we can talk about android L, its way too early to talk about that when the bootloader is still lock and there aren't any device configurations on github for devs to build the ROMS
