Animations - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

My nexus 4's screen shattered, now I have tmobile gs4. Why are the animations not as smooth as on the nexus 4? I'm running what's supposed to be an aosp based rom.

What aosp rom are you running?

For me if you install a Google edition ROM on the gs4 it will be silky smooth there are three or so to choose from that have some slight tweaks. Jamison, evilart, and Mr virg all have silky smooth stable Google edition ROMs. Try any of those and you should be set. The true aosp ROMs are still very much new on the s4 so they all have some slight bugs here and there.
Sent from my SGH-M919G using Tapatalk 4 Beta

which animations are you talking about? launcher animations or boot animations?
if its launcher animations, then its just you, silky smootheness here.
if its boot animations, then its the same here. i made my own boot animation and for the life of me i cant get it to go past like 5 fps, while on other phones (non s4) its smooth

I just noticed this during the weekend. I was running GE rom, which is the smoothest rom I've ran on this phone, and I started messing around with my friends Stock Nexus 4 and I saw the lag.
It's not so much a lag in animations, it's more of a lag to actually get something done (open an app, go into a setting) you'll really of notice is if you put it next to the Nexus 4 or if you've used a Nexus 4 for a while.
You'll eventually get used to it.

What would be harder to do?

I was wondering what would be harder to port...............Touchwiz, Sense, or Aplications Platform(Motorola)?
I'm no expert on this topic but sense would most likely be the hardest to port. As for easiest I have no idea

Yeah I'm liking how Motorola is going and I like the way touchwiz looks but people get mad when I ask about a non-stock ROM on a Google device.

I'd say the Motorola I went to a Verizon store and played with the RAZR m. Widgets are nice and overall u.I. was smooth. Was ICS BTW... sense would be amazing and maybe stutter proof ( we do have a beast of a phone)

There's a guy in the dev section who has been working on the ports , still not mega stable so they all look like a pain. Give him a message am sure he has more info

NO offense but IMO, Holo is the prettiest launcher so far. Nothing can replace Holo on a GNex.
But looking at the progresses, sense seems to be the most easiest (or most worked on) so far cuz months ago i saw TW ports and Sense ports but nowadays i only see Sense ports.

Well, answer is no. All you need is a custom recovery (Clockworkmod or TWRP). If you're completely stock, then sadly no

A lot of these build.prop edits are in most of your custom roms anyway and a lot of them have options to enable the init.d stuff no need for a script to do it twice.

Touchwiz port or rom?

Has anyone created a touch wiz port or rom.?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Yes. Its just in a super secret second development forum. That's why its not in the Development forum for your device.
Why in the world would anyone WANT touch wiz. I bought my gnex because i was sick of touchwiz

Always run every ROM than go back to blur too...
I always just OC, Supercharge, entitlement hotspot hack, remove bloat, deodex, init D, swap out system apps and I'm happy
Edit: Go back to blur when I had a bionic.

As of yet it hasn't been done, its possible but certainly not easy. You can watch the CNS developing thread although the dev hasn't said anything in a long time.

you think it would need a rom bas like cm10 or slim bean i mean i know its not gonna be a full port but a skin on the rom which is i think as close as it gets
Personally, I dont like TouchWiz. But if you are running CM10 or some other custom ROM, I'm sure you can get a TouchWiz feel with launchers, themes and keyboards. Im sure there are TouchWiz apps around too if you search for them. Thats probably the closest you'll get

You look at a lockscreen for less than 4 seconds while unlocking. I hardly think that a fancy lockscreen is necessary.

You don't need to replace the boot image. All the Gnex variations use the same kernel.
Unless you compiled your own kernel?
Either way, I might be in on dev for this, downloading the Premier kernel source now, will see what I can't replace with gnex stuff (driver wise), the phones are pretty similar.

I will open the tread today if my internet won't ask like a b*tch. Yesterday it was uploading at only 1kbps .The kernel is just the cm10 kernel with a modded bootclasspath to boot this rom.

[Q] Galaxy S4 to Galaxy S3

Since all the official updates are so so slow. I was hoping if anyone knows of any roms that are for the s3 to turn your s3 into a s4
There are no 4.2.2 touchwiz rom for this phone yet, only some 4.1.2 s4 themed roms such as s4 dream in the development section, that's what I'm currently using and it is a great rom, very smooth.

That is a smooth ROM. The only real issue is that in some areas you have white text on white background. So I am back to my Illusion daily drive. I am, however, trying to correct this text color issue.
