Wiped the phone and it doesn't boot now - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So i'm getting ready to sell my gNex. I did the factory wipe in the settings on the phone. Only to find that my personal data files was still there.
It also showed 7GB used of the 16.
I went into recovery and wiped everything, it seems like i even wiped the rom or so because its not booting up into anything.
Clockwork mod recovery is still on there, i can mount system but i cant find a way to drop in the stock rom to flash.
The phone is now stuck on the "GOOGLE" screen.

You could use fastboot to push a Rom. Or you could use Odin if you really want to put it to stock.

in recovery mode, i mounted /sdcard /system /cache
but the drive doesn't show up on my windows 7 computer so i can drop in a rom.
I'm only have a basic understanding of stuff... At this point i just want it work again. stock rom or w/e
Fastboot is UP/down and power. get the guy with his belly open. That works.
I can go into ODIN mode ( down + power) but no idea how to use that.

1) the phone will never be able to mount the sd card as there is no sdcard... why is this still being discussed by anyone?

i was able to fastboot force a stock rom with gnex toolkit.
I came across another problem now. So while running stock rom everything works and boots up nicely. I've rooted and installed Clockworkrecovery mod. I've tried to install PA's rom with GAPPS everything installed nicely and goes into its boot screen, (fish icon) but never loads. Ive tried about 10 times and then i tried to install xenon with GAPPS and now its stuck same thing ( bouncing balls).
whats going on... ive flash roms before and never had this issue.
I'm waiting over 10 minutes.

Try a stock ROM.

I have no issues with the stock 4.2.2 or 4.2.1 everything works great on it. Im Happy the phone works but now to get a ROM on it.
It just hangs on booting up after installing new ROM. I know it normally takes 5-10 minutes but I've waited 25 minutes on some cases.
But my buyer would like PA's ROM with HALO installed.
Prior to me wiping the phone I was on cayalsym's ROM with no issues.

[Q] JB can't keep a recovery?

I just upgraded to JB, and like most of you, I've been adding things to it, mostly through CWM. The problem is, the recovery partition is (kinda) broken. Let me explain.
If I turn off my GNex and reboot it to Fastboot then use Fastboot to go to Recovery mode, or even try to boot to it from ROM manager, I get the "android on his back with his panel open and a <!> floating over him" icon. I have to pull the battery to get past that. From there, if I use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to flash a recovery, it will boot to it, but even if I reboot immediately, I get <!> again. If I flash CWM from ROM manager, it will work, but again, only that one time. It's like something in the shutdown process is breaking recovery.
I tried it with CWM, CWM Touch, and TWRP. Same problem.
Am I alone in this?
Is there a fix?
This happened to me after I flashed stock JB. I then flashed bigxie's rooted deodexed Rom and my recovery sticks
I am on Team Liquid vicious v2 w/ franco 200 kernel. it has been very smooth and I have been able to boot into recovery seamlessly.
I am assuming you already have root. Just go to the /system folder then rename recovery-from-boot.p to something else and cwm will stick
I've got the same problem from time to time.
Suddenly CWM is away and I have to reflash it.
Can I fix this by deleting the .p file mentioned?

Kinda weird that it's from "time to time" because if that file is there, then it should bring you back to stock recovery every time after you use your newly flashed temporary recovery. Yes, rename/delete that file and it should stick.

What's wrong with my phone

Ok I'm really irritated right about now. I am unable to flash any custom ROMS on my phone. Actually let me rephrase, I can flash them but many things do not work. I have tried Wicked, FreeGS3 and CapROM. They all have the same issues. Let me explain.
Once the ROM is booted I get odd string of numbers and TXT in the status bar, (goes away, think nothing of it)
Root not avail/accessible by root apps.
Home button does not work
Play store missing
standard Google login prompt at first boot is missing, it never asks me to login
Using CWM 5.8.4.5 Touch Recovery
TMO GS3 Rooted with Odin no trip method
I don't get it. I am i just stuck using stock ROM? If anyone can help I would love you forever.
are you clearing /cache and dalvik-cache before you reboot to the custom rom?

If you mean clearing those after the install (in recovery completes) then no. Basically after the install I just reboot. Obviously clear and reset everything before I install though.

I use TWRP and have no problems.
Do a Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, fix permissions.
If that doesn't work, flash stock and reroot and try again.
I use touch recovery 5.8.4.7 and flashed it with adb. I've flashed almost everything. Cyanogenmod and every other ROM. NEVER had a problem with an instalation. Or even lost IMEI. I think people specifically aren't reading over OP's and figuring out what's safest for their devices and end up with these kind of results. Just my input.

Use mskips tool for our phones. It does everything you can image and then some. I have been using his tools since the HD2 and no issues to date.
The odd string of numbers that flashes upon boot in the status bar sounds like it's just identifying your external sd card. Totally normal.
OK so nothing worked. TWRP did the same thing. Tried diff ROM, same thing. I flashed back to 100% stock, unrooted ROM. Wiped the phone in the standard Android recovery. Then I rooted again, installed TWRP and flashed my ROM of choice and voila. Everything works. Problem solved. Thanks all for the inputs.

[Solved] Flashed cyanogenmod, stuck on boot screen

Hey guys, I'm really new to rooting, flashing roms, and Android in general (I've used iOS since 2007 until a month ago... please have mercy on my soul). I have an AT&T GN2 that I would like to remove the bloatware from, hence why I began investigating rooting, but it's snowballed into my desire to try out some of the amazing ROMs that the developers here have produced. Since the Note 2 uses the Exynos 4, I rooted using the ExynosAbuse exploit and downloaded Titanium Backup to freeze the AT&T apps. So far, so good.
However, I am wanting to get into how to flash custom ROMs, like CyanogenMod, so I downloaded the CWM RomManager and flashed the CWM Recovery. I downloaded the CyanogenMod 10.1 release for the i317 model (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024495) and the latest gApps package (for 4.2.1), and flashed both from CWM RomManager. When it rebooted, it showed the CyanogenMod boot screen, but it appears to be stuck there. I'm not sure what to do at this point, and am hoping I didn't brick my phone. Is there anything I can do at this point?
Use the three button combo to get into recovery, should be volume up, home, and power, and then wipe data or install a stock rooted ROM. That should help get you to a bootable stage.

When I booted into recovery, I got the CWM recovery (which is a good thing, I suppose). I wiped the cache, and then installed the CM 10.1 zip and gApps zip. However, I think I still need to wipe data/factory reset, right?
So, at this point, I've:
1. Rooted the device using Chainfire's ExynosAbuse apk (super easy).
2. Installed RootChecker (success) and TI backup (froze bloatware apps).
3. Downloaded CWM RomManager.
4. Flashed CWM Recovery.
5. Downloaded CM 10.1 port for i317 (the AT&T GN2 model) and the 4.2.1 gApps zips.
6. Chose to install ROM from SD card in RomManager, added both CM 10.1 and gApps, and only selected install (did not wipe cache or user data at this point).
7. Received blue CyanogenMod boot screen... excited... but it remains on the boot screen. Sad face.
8. Removed battery to power the device off, placed battery back in, and then booted into recovery mode (CWM recovery).
9. Installed the CM 10.1 zip and gApps zip from SD, then wiped cache.
10. ???

Okay, I booted into recovery mode and fixed permissions... the keyboard still crashes, which means I can't type anything. Do I have to do anything with the kernel? I didn't wipe the dalvik cache, should I have done that?
EDIT: wiped dalvik cache, didn't do anything... apparently, this was a fine release so I'm not sure what could be causing the keyboard issues.

Plug it into your computer and see if you can mount your internal sd. If you can download a new rom to your computer and transfer it to sd. Did you make a backup before flashing?

Well, I'm downloading CleanROM right now. I also downloaded another cm 10.1 file just in case, perhaps it's because I downloaded it on the mobile Chrome browser that I'm having problems? I also downloaded a kernel from the thread to help with performance. However, if I can't get these on the phone, it doesn't matter. Since I'm on a Mac, I have to use Android File Transfer, and it isn't registering my phone, unfortunately. I may have to go out and buy a cheap SD card and throw the files on there. It may not hurt to have one around, anyways.

No... I thought that a backup of the original ROM was made when flashing CWM recovery, but I am a noob and that did not happen. Unfortunately, the browser doesn't even work! So I cannot text myself the link for the download. I should be able to flash a zip file from a micro sdhc, right?
Flash the right GAPPS, the crashing keyboard is a symptom of incorrect GAPPS. The December one is for 4.2.1 only, which is what CM10.1 is based on. Make sure you flash the right GAPPS with the right CM version.

Oh... crap. Is there any way I can get the correct gApps on my phone? Ugh... I'm going to have access to a Windows machine today, so I can download the correct GAPPS and put them on my flash drive. I can still put it in USB debugging mode, but will the PC recognize it? Android File Transfer software for Mac does not recognize the phone any more, so I'm a bit limited in what I can do. Unless, like I said before, I can just pop in an SD card with the correct file.
Just grab goo manager from the market and dl the correct gapps to your phone. Either that or use your phones browser. No need for a pc. Boot in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik and flash correct gapps. Should be gtg.
Edit: just saw your browser isn't working. Goo manager's your best bet. Could always try another browser from the market as well. Good luck.

I love cm but the unofficial scares me
yeah I'm hella pissed that ClockWorkRecovery is a worthless piece of crap on the NoteII unlike my Atrix where it worked fine. When I go into cwm and go to clear data it restarts and I charged to 100% and it still restarts. One time it didn't restart and I backed up my current rom and it was successful. I forgot to backup with titanium back and so I cleared data and restored my original backup prior to clearing data to install cm10 and upon reboot it was like a stock rom i think the hybrid and the camera didn't even work. So it cleared all my personal data and didn't restore ****. I'm so mad now I have to do a whole bunch of work to get it back to normal.
What's up with CWM for Note 2? Why doesn't it backup EVERYTHING like my ATRIX and HTC HD2 would do no problem...
Now I can't clear data since everytime I do it, it restarts every single time... CWM - based recovery v6.0.1.4-jb Modify by xiaolu
Can I flash a better working version that actually works and backup correctly and restores all data...?
Use TWRP. It's much better.

Phone wont boot at all?
The best way to get twrp is to download goo manager from the Playstore and install it from that app. (Recovery script option)

It hangs on the Hybrid screen forever so i just now install cm10 with no wipe data just to get into the os so i can copy the right files to the internal sd card for twrp etc
So now i can't get it to work at all it just hangs on the CyanogenMod screen. Does TWRP work with ntfs cards in recovery?? I hope so. Because it's stupid how it can mount usb storage and see my ntfs sd card on my pc but then i can't browse to install zip it says cannot mount. When It just got done mounting it to the pc and it worked fine.
Anyway now I'm screwed can't do anything except maybe format my 64gb sd card and I really don't want to do that.
Twrp accepts adb. You can push files to it if youre stuck in twrp.

So does TWRP accept ntfs external sd cards?
Anyway I had to freakin reformat my 64gb card to fat32 and put the files on and i put on the latest and the Team win pops up when i do a volume up menu and power then it restarts... Never goes into TWRP.... HELP
TWRP doesn't even work I did exactly as it says here on the site :
Install using your existing recovery like you would any other zip.
Reboot and select TWRP from the boot menu.
There is no menu upon boot what the hell are they talking about? I hold volume up, menu, power and I see the Teamwin then it restarts ..... WTF?!?
Download goo manager. Install it that way.
Sent from GN2 using XDA app
Okay my phone is screwed i installed twrp in clockworkmod and it doesnt work i see teamwin then it reboots so im doing odin mode now and it does the same thing... prior to me doing all this cwm was rebooting as soon as i clear data and so I couldnt clear data and i cant boot to android or anything so CAN SOMEONE PLEASE help me do a Fresh ODIN install of TWRP PLEASE? thank you
I flashed back to cwm6-root-note2.tar and i Can At least get into recovery without it messing up and restarting like Worthless TWRP does. Anyway when I go to clear data the phone Restarts...
Don't install from cwm. I think you got it working. But I would Odin flash stock and start over. If you still have issues I would say your phone has something going on. But if you can't prove it, att won't trade. And flashing incorrectly(not official Samsung software) isn't allowed lol
Sent from GN2 using XDA app
So let me get this straight.
Your pissed because:
A.) Free CWM isnt working to your liking
B.) Free "lame stock modded rom's" are lame
C.) You've been here for 2 years and cant find where the AOSP Roms are
Sorry your free stuff doesnt bend over backwards for you
In another thread...complaining about the same thing...he says he got TWRP working. Didn't respond to my question as to what he did yet though. But the negative attitude towards something going wrong isn't going to solve the issue. Relax. Remember that both CWM and TWRP have disclaimers that if you don't know what you're doing and you screw your phone up during the install, you do it at your own risk and they're not liable, especially when many of us have installed CWM and TWRP many times in different devices without problems.
For me to get my phone working had to re-partition with a pit file for my sgh-i317 then installed stock rom then went to stock recovery cleared data etc then flashed twrp and install jellybeer cm10 which is working great.

No Recovery?

So, I'm having this strange issue where I can't boot into Recovery Mode.
I've been a flashaholic for a little over a year now, but I've never had this problem.
I wanted to get off of Philz because it wasn't wiping my phone correctly while flashing new roms, so I decided to go back to good 'ol TWRP.
I downloaded Goomamager and tried to install, no luck.
So I hopped on my laptop to flash via ODIN, still a no go.
Only after that, it doesn't boot into Recovery at all.
I tried to use ROM Manager to install CWM, because at this point I'm willing to use anything, still a no go.
Anyone got any ideas?
I can get into Download Mode, but no Recovery is sticking.
I try to boot into Recovery, but the device just reboots itself.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Depends on the android version. Also go back to stock with Odin and start all over. Make sure you using right recovery ? As far as philz cwm not wiping properly. Not to sure about that one. A wipe is a generic thing. What do you mean not wiping the right way?

Alright, I was gonna do that tomorrow on my day off, since the device seems to function properly mostly.
With Philz, I mean that I would Factory Reset, Wipe Data and "Wipe for new ROM", but when I would flash the new ROM, it would still have everything I had before on the device's SD memory, (which to me, is not a clean flash).
I am on Temasek's 4.4 CM11 v50.
I've been using this ROM for a long time and I've never had this problem in the past.
