new battery recommendation - searched the forums already - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Basically my DHD is terrible for battery life no matter which ROM i flash on it.
I am looking to buy a replacement/spare battery, I have seen that there are a variety of batteries for the DHD although I am not sure which one will be good.
Can anybody recommend me some so I can order it online?

I ordered an Andida 1800mah battery from EBay, I instantly cancelled it after reading reviews, mainly because the only legit battery you can get for the dhd is the stock one, or a Mugen battery

[Q] Extended Battery 1500mAh for the DHD

Ok so there's a few threads about the 1500mAh for a few other devices and I saw a 1600mAh mugen battery for the DHD however it's been discontinued for some reason. Faulty?
A few websites later I came across this:
http://www.blueunplugged.com/Extended-Battery-1500mah-HTC-DesireHD.aspx
Has anyone tried it? Any noticable difference?
I would bet my life on that being utterly useless. 1500mAH for under a tenner? I expect a stock battery would out last that by a long time.
I have 2 of these batteries. They are not 1500mah. They do seem to perform as well as the factory battery though. Get a couple of them and a charger off ebay and then you can enjoy the security of having a spare battery on hand.

Yeah at the very least I hoped it would be enough as a spare. Already ordered one.

Rezound battery for MT4G? - UPDATE: Not Compatible

UPDATE: It looks like this battery is not compatible with our MT4G.
-----
Has anyone tried out the Rezound 1620 mAh battery in our MT4G? Apparently it fits in the Thunderbolt which is compatible with ours. Here's the discussion about it in the Thunderbolt forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353300
Verizon is selling the OEM battery for $19.99 right now. It shows $39.99 on the product page but when you checkout it changes to $19.99.

I tried ordering one but it's not taking my cc info right now but thought it might a good deal for you guys. Can't beat an OEM higher capacity battery for $20.
yeah, the anker batteries can give you an extra 1/2hr juice..If your phone was still under warranty htc will replace it for free including charging cables, i just got a new battery from htc yesterday am still under manufacturer warranty.
what exactly is an anker battery? and is the rezound battery an improvement over stock mt4g battery? thanks!
ordered mine, bought my phone on release day could use a fresh battery,
Ordered one as well, but got it shipped to the house, it will be a week before a see it.
1620 vs 1400 is a nice boost, plus this battery is over a year old, time for a refresh.

Yes, anker batteries can be an upgrade, as for what an anker battery is, there is no specific definition as to what it is, it's basically a high quality optimized battery, safe, it's very well tested/ extensively tested unlike the manufacturer batteries, and they can last you longer than the manufacturer battery say an extra 1-4 hours of heavy to light uses.

Isn't Anker just a manufacturer/brand name of batteries?
ianker.com/
thank you so much for the replies guys. didnt mean to sound like a whinny brat. Would you guys recommend it over the rezound battery?
Yes.. anker manufacture, and its there brandname.. as for. Battery recommendation. First off.. you can get the anket As a backup. But if you already have a battery and its under manufacturer warranty you can ask them for another. Tell them something believable its free of charge. cable and battery are cover under manufacturer warranty. so if you don't feel like buying a battery just ask them for another battery. Again I would recommend anker battery.

DO NOT BUY REZOUND BATTERY! is not fully compatible with mt4g. have it in virtuous affinity rom, does not read battery state, nor does it charge. battery symbol is gray with ! maybe im missing something but it does not seem like this battery is compatible with our phones.
Mine comes today ill post my results.

10-4, please let us know before we start ordering...Thanks!!
I got one today. I'm on cm7, default kernel. I reset battery stats and then tried to charge it for a couple hours...it just drains or maintains like it's not plugged in. The thing doesn't seem to charge. I'm going to return mine...
Yup not compatible
Ok did some testing with my friends tbolt. His battery works fine in the mytouch and the rezound battery works fine in the tbolt. I also noticed the rezound battery in the mytouch while trying to charge the led flashes green to orange like the battery is over heated. The only assumption i can make is that htc used a new battery temp sensor that the mytouch cant read and the tbolt can. I also read in the tbolt forums that the oem battery will not turn on the rezound. Oh well he said he will buy my battery for 15 dollars, at least it not a total loss. Back in search of battery, maybe ill give the anker a shot. Also the op needs to change the thread title to include not compatible.

Thanks for the info guys. I was finally going to head out to a VZ store to pick one up tomorrow but I guess I can cancel that trip. I've updated the thread title and OP to let others know.
Apologizes to whomever got one
just talked to htc, he refered me to tech and hardware repair dept closed right now. ill call in the morning, although he did ge me some info about a aftermarket batttery that caused damage to a phone which leads me to believe that htc changed something in the batteries. also he directed me to shop htc america to get a stock battery for the mytouch and its listed as 1500mah but they are back ordered and dont know when they will be in stock. http://shopamerica.htc.com/accessories/productdetail.htm?prId=38913
it could be a kernel issue. coming from the HD2 where they had to write a ton of kernel code, there were some kernels that were compatible with the extended battery and others that werent. just an idea
thanks for the info, will look into the anker battery.

Best battery?

After seeing today that my phone was at about half battery life and then about 6 about hours later or maybe less, with minimal use, it died, I ask which battery is best for this phone at around 15 pounds that doesn't require a new back cover etc. thanks

Original Sony battery for the play am guessing
Mugen Power has a nice battery for the play. It adds 300mah, which is an increase of 20%. It is quite expensive, 34$/26€/21£.

Note: I do not have it myself.

So I went and bought a cheap battery with about 250 more MAH than the current battery. It was £3.99. Aside from being rubbish, are there any other defects of using a rubbish battery? Could it mess up my phone?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Definitely. You've spent a decent amount of money on a good phone, why look for a cheap battery which can damage it?
Not saying it will, but the chances of battery different than the original causing harm is always there.
I remember seeing a battery from China that had an extra 300 mAh, for 5 dollars each. It was black with gold Chinese characters on it.
Can't remember where I saw it but a good google search would probably find it. The feedback from people who bought it was really good.
They were selling it as a battery for a different phone other than the play, probably the x10, but it was the same BST-41 battery so it'll work the same.

haha i got to pull off the gold sticker now
edit: mine doesnt say that.
Battery life is a pretty important feature of a phone, if HTC could have had double the capacity for just a couple of quid I'm sure they would have, but they didn't, suggesting that the cheap "gold" and double life batteries aren't what they suggest (and that's certainly borne out my my use of copy batteries.)

[Q] Battery Options

I've been looking for a new battery for my phone, I would prefer one without the need of a new back cover if anyone knows a good battery please tell me.
I have looked at these two batteries on amazon, but there doesn't seem to be much about then else where. Is it worth the buy?

Or this one:
http://www.amazon.com/4041mAh-3-8V-Rechargeable-Battery-D855/dp/B00QFIBA9G/ref=sr_1_116?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1419900198&sr=1-116&keywords=Lg+G3+battery
EDIT:
After further reading I find that most slim batteries are a scam. Are there any lower $30s extended batteries with TPU case?
As you found out slim batterys are a scam you want more capacity you have to get a bigger fatter battery its the trade off and you could get a cheap battery but recommend getting one already tested check other threads there are a few
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
On the other hand, if you buy a "slim battery" (preferably the original LG one), and the one that came with your phone still works, you end up with (almost) double the capacity because you can switch them out when one runs out of charge. This way you don't make your phone twice as ugly and 3 times as thick.
Go with the TrendOn batteries. You get two batteries plus a wall charger at a very reasonable price. I've had them for awhile now and they work as good as the stock battery, if not better. I get the same expected life and they appear to run cooler as well.
