Android police was able to get these "leaked" pics of the new nexus 7 with a new wallpaper. The wallpaper looks nice and I was wondering if anyone could find it or make a custom version of it. Someone made a custom version on Photoshop and posted it in the comments on the android police article but it had black lines in between the colors and didn't look as good but I will post it here just on case someone can edit it and get rid of the lines. I would be incredibly grateful if someone could get one that looks identical to this one

I am debating returning my sgs II, while I still have 15 days left to return it to wait for the Galaxy Nexus. I love the hercules, and im not returning it because of problems, I just want ICS and I feel like even though its a top rated phone, it will take forever to get ICs on it. I also think the Galaxy Nexus GSM version will be available around the same time as verizon version. Anyone have any input?

I think you will be waiting atleast a couple of months after it released on verizon before you see the GSM version. Plus there are quite a few devices either identicle or very similar to ours. So I think once one gets ics the porting will be much easier.

Yeah its a hard decision because I really like this phone....just don't wanna pass up the time I am able to return it for full price, and then regret not returning it. You really think it will be a couple months for a gsm version? Why do you say that?
return it, cancel it, and get another SGS2 from another store
then you auto extent to another 15 days
Be careful with this. Took my Tmobile gs2 back because of the screen issues and rebooting. Got a new one with minimal line issues and it seems snappier, but the guy told me it was the last exchange in the store. Me thinking I had 10 more days. Apparently since I returned an amaze and bought a BRAND NEW phone, the 14 days did not reset for me. I was always told anytime I had a new device it would reset the return period.

Well, I bought outright, so i actually get 30 days to return Its only 15 days if you buy with contract at a discounted price. And I have thought of that also...i still have til the 15th so ill give it a few more days and see if we get any news about the nexus I guess.... i dunno
Galaxy Nexus comes mid November 17 to 28 according to the fans in the GN forum.
personally i'm not excited at all about the GN, it's like a side-upgrade compared to SGS2
if you want a HD 720 device that is as best as you can get for Tmobile
otherwise SGS2 is the top of the hill at the moment spec wise
Considering how long it took for the Galaxy S2X to show up on Telus doorstep I wouldn't hold my breath for any upgrades.
It sucks as two good phones will be out but you'll have to decide of which two has the more important features and myself I love the screen on the Galaxy S2X
its verizon exclusive as most people have said so u will be waiting a while

I'm not so sure...didn't Verizon take the exclusive off their banner? Also, nothing has been announced of it yet..

They did. But you will still will be waiting 3-4 months for a gsm version also keep in mind importing it might be more money then just waiting for the release. It is suppose to be released on Verizon right after black Friday. It was stated by various android sites recently. I wouldn't upgrade to it. If we get cm support or miui we will probably get ics within weeks after source drops.

im keeping mine ,the leaked speculation for the next galaxy phone are incredible...5mp camera and no sd slot ,that imo is going backward .i know the resolution is there and so is ICS but i can wait for it and if the next galaxy phone is anything close to being as planned then i would think it would be the right decision to keep the phone....unless you just got a bunch of money to blow then go for it
stick with the GalaxyS2 boss! like someone said earlier in this thread - we'll get ICS support fairly quickly with a ROM after source hits. specs are better on our phone and the lack of microsd card was a bit of a deal killer for us.
i'm getting galaxy nexus with 1280x720 resolutions! that is like putting your home desktop monitor in your pocket! haha
and 4.65 screen which the GS2 can never give me!

I'm debating doing the same. FWIW, I think the int'l GSM version of the GN will be available perhaps even before the Verizon version. If you're willing to pay full retail, it's an attractive option.

Hi Everyone!
Currently, I have the Nexus 7 which I LOVE and it is my first Android device too. I am thinking of getting a Android phone now (from iPhone 4S) and I am really interested in the unlocked Galaxy Nexus from GPlay since it is so cheap and I think a GREAT deal for the 'top of the line' phone since it is a Nexus. My question to you is, why would I need a Android phone if I have a Android tablet? I had an iPad before my N7 and got bored of it because my phone was also iOS and very similar. So I am worried the same will happen with my N7 and Android phone...
Also, if I do decide to get an Android phone (with the help/suggestions from you guys as to why to get it), I will defintetly get a Nexus phone. I know the current GNexus on the Play store cam out 'unlocked' 5mths after release. So if the Nexus '2' comes our November, it will be out in the Play store around April/May which is a long time from now. Will it be worth the wait or should I just get the current Nexus? Also, do you think the price of the current GNexus on Play will drop *even though it is already pretty low* when the Nexus '2' comes out?
Thanks and I am looking forward to your input!

You already have a nexus tablet. Trade the 4s for the 5 when it comes out.

Get the next nexus bro. Do you want a phone or a status symbol.

I'd say its difficult to get bored of Android, because you have it on both devices.
You could always just "spruce" it up a bit. Change launchers, theme said launchers, install a ROM that supports themes, etc...

Personally I would wait for the next Nexus phone. The 4S is a good phone so it should hold you off until the next Nexus release (unless you can't resist buying the iPhone 5 lol). Getting a Galaxy Nexus right now is a good bargain but unless you really need to save the money you might as well wait for the latest one which will be future proof for another year.

Thanks everyone for the replies! It looks like I am going to wait for the next Nexus phone then get it from GPlay a couple months later.

That is very true since it is much more open than iOS.

On the other hand, the Nexus 7 was on the Play Store within negative two weeks after release.
April/May was the first deployment of the devices store; now that it's been set up there's no reason the new Nexus wouldn't be available right away.

Well, truth be told I've been neglecting my phone ever since the tablet came out. Bigger screen is just more addictive for doing all the things I do. Only time I've really been using my phone is during transit and to tether the tablet
I think this would be true regardless of which phone I had though (short of an app that was only available on my phone). I wouldn't say I was "bored" of it, just that the occasion hasn't really come up. My phone looks nothing like the tablet (it's running Salad Bar with Launcher 7, which doesn't scale very well to tablets).

It makes sense; I would guess so. There's no evidence whatsoever though.
Finally, as to whether you should wait for the next Nexus, definitely. Your iPhone's not going anywhere until then, and you'll be treated to either a more powerful phone or a likely discount of the previous phone.
OK here is what I'm planning on doing when I buy my N7.
I'm gonna put MIUI or Paranoid Android on my GNex so I don't get bored.
This will give me two completely different OS experience.

If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^
remember boys and girls, supporting Apple is supporting terrorism. I'm not even joking.
Get yourself a GS3. Bootloader is unlocked and it's like having a Nexus device with 3x battery life. I'm sure the next Nexus phone (nexus 8?) will be as good but it may not be out until Android 5.0 (12 months?). GS3 is a beast, I have both GN and GS3.
With all of these phones like this and the Note 2 coming soon I'm curious about the new Nexus phone to be revealed at the end of this month.

I wonder how good a phone google wants to build. It has to be tough trying to balance "We need to not step on the toes of those that use our OS" with "We need better hardware, but we need someone else to build it." We have seen the rumors before about Samsung wanting to split off and use its own OS, if google comes up with a nexus phone that's too good this only fuels that fire. I swear they do a nexus phone just for something to do.

I agree with you. I feel that google releases a "nexus" or "google" phone every year just to say that they have there own phone. Honestly is sammy tried there own OS, i have a a feeling it would successful as long as updates don't take as long as they usually do with android updates...
Yeah it does look nice. I might switch back to ATT just because of the One X+. But hopefully it lands on Sprint as well

Just never liked the fact that ATT locked the boot loader of the original One X
This phone is supposed to be exclusive to at&t. There has been some very interesting and exciting rumors about the future of Nexus devices today that have me pretty excited. Google will be putting out rules and specs for any phone developer to make a Nexus certified device that's controlled by Google. The phones will also have a customization option for things like touch wiz or sense if you prefer the look and feel compared to pure Google. This sounds pretty darn awesome. The first or next Nexus device is supposed to be the LG Optimus G. Or read here for the full breakdown.

With black friday coming up, it's inevitably that the GS3 will be on sale. My question is, with the Nexus 4 coming out, is the GS3 still worth my upgrade? I don't know what I want to do right now, the Nexus doesn't have LTE and living in the SF Bay Area, I actually have access to LTE. But, the Nexus is quad core, and has updates as it comes out. Another question I have has to do with custom roms, specifically CM10. How stable are these releases when it comes to all the features such as camera, etc? And how's battery life? Lastly, does anyone know how the auto updater works? Is it basically like regular OTA's from any other company? Or would I have to reflash every time and update comes out?
Anyone else also stuck in the same predicament, feel free to use this thread to discuss pros and cons of each phone.
We already have a few nexus 4 or gs3 threads in here... The concensus is get the SGSIII. Cm10 is as good as the nexus variant. OTA Updater works if the dev is using it. Just Google it to see how it works.. Pretty simple.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Sorry about that, I didn't see them, but I'll be sure to search harder next time. Thanks for the information though
The s3 is my first Android device but I absolutely love this thing. There is great dev support around here so we're never behind as far as OS updates go. Personally the quad core benefits would be minimal for me in day to day use. And, the inclusion of LTE on the s3 makes it a significant plus in my book.
Sams will be selling the S3 for 99 cents on black friday with 2 year contract
Just get the S3 for now and try it. If you don't like it ENOUGH, return it before the grace period is up. No one here can tell you what you will like/dislike about the phone. That's up to you

Hey guys, will be getting my Nexus 7 installed in my car probably within the next month or so, and was curious as to what those of you who have done this already were using for themes? To give you an idea, I did like the look of Chameleon launcher, though stayed away due to the not so great reviews.. but anything similar out there? Or maybe even things I have not heard of or thought of yet, thanks.
