Hey guys,
I was reading on it quite a bit and I'm not the only one who has this issue. Contacts do not sync into the car for me to make a call directly from my car's onboard computer.
I have a BMW with i-drive and everything was working fine when I had an iPhone. I tried multiple solutions that I found on the internet and nothing worked.
I have an idea now, what if I replace my whole phones contacts application with some third party app, I believe that the reason behind this sync issue is the contacts app note 2 comes with.
Any suggestions on a simple contact app? All I want is for it to sync my Google contacts and for my phone to finally work with my car.
after a 3 months of bottle I fixed it !
1. go to contacts accounts and remove every account. unpair phone from your car
2. go to running applications / open bluetooth share / stop bluetoothPbapService
3. connect phone vie bluetooth to the car.
4. restart your phone and add google contacts back
Done!

I have a Volkswagen Touareg with a bluetooth phone prep, which is a remote Sim Access Profile type and possibly made by Nokia, the manual mentions Nokia HT-2, which I am trying to connect my HTC TyTN too. I have recently ugraded to the WM 6 ROM from the HTC website, works brilliantly, and am using the SAP Manager tool included to make the connection, which is fine.
But I cannot copy my phone book, which happens to be my ActiveSync contacts from an outlook exchange server. I have installed the Jetware Mobile app, discussed in a similar thread here, but no joy. Does anyone have any ideas please? Is there a widget I could install or some modification I could make that would achieve it, as it is a ball ache to manually dial every number I need from the steering wheel when it is just in the phonebook. Many thanks.
use gmail account
Hello,
I have the same problem. Converting the contacts to a gmail account en use the gmail app the synchronize mail & contact. that works fine .
Best regards,
Iwan van wijk
When i first start my car (kia soul) it proceeds to download the phone book from my phone. On my previous phone (touch pro 2) it went much quicker then it goes with the Evo. I assume this is because i have more contacts.
Is there some way i can designate that only certain contacts get transfered? There's really only a handful that i ever call from my car, the rest of them i don't need added to the car's phone book. Could i do something like create a bluetooth group and only contacts in that group get transfered to the car's memory?
No solution to this? It takes several minutes before i can use the incar bluetooth system due to how long it takes for it to copy the phone book.
Well I unchecked exchange in my contacts then it doesn't sync them. After the first sync you can go back and check exchange and it will sync them in the background next time you get in the car.

If you mean under the account & sync settings, i do not have my exchange contacts set to sync. The only thing set to sync under there is email.
Is it possibly downloading EVERY contact that i have in gmail? Under the 'my contacts' section i have 40 contacts. but under all contacts i have well over a thousand.
On my touch pro 2, i think i probably had about 25 contacts in the phone.
Ya see my situation is a little different I have an exchange email for work then gmail for personal. I just go into the people app and unchecked exchange then it will sync faster. Sorry that none of that will apply for you but maybe help someone else. I will say this that it does seem slower syncing than the TP2. That doesn't help either ....

Hmm, so you think the phone itself is for some reason slow syncing then the tp2 and it's not just an issue of possibly having more contacts? If i have time, i'll try deleting my account from the phone and manually adding a few contacts and see how long it takes for it to sync just that handful.
I'm not sure what you mean by going into the people app and unchecking exchange? when i click on people, i don't have an option anywhere to uncheck exchange. Maybe that's because i don't have the exchange contacts set to sync under the account settings.
Using Samsung Focus, really like WP7 and this phone. Have facebook selected to only display information in contacts on people I already have in contacts. Works fine on phone.
Have a Garmin Zumo 550 GPS on my motorcycle, phone is bluetooth connected to GPS which is connected into intercom system on bike. GPS contacts shows all facebook people, not just the people in phone contact list.
I deleted FB from phone, turned on GPS and then only the contacts in my phone showed on GPS. Was really happy all those extra FB people were not in GPS contact list anymore.
Recreated FB account on phone with display only info on people already in contacts option selected, turned on GPS again, and all FB people showed up in GPS contacts. NOT HAPPY.
This is a WP7 problem. How can WP7 be stopped from sending FB people to GPS or other Bluetooth devices? (without the obvious, remove FB account from phone)
Anybody know to stop WP7 from sending all Facebook friends to contact list on a Bluetooth connected GPS?
Phone is set to only display Facebook friends info only on contacts already in phone, and it works on phone contact list but is sending all of my Facebook friends to list on Bluetooth device. Why?
it doesn't appear to be possible to stop it at present. Perhaps post this as an issue in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836373, and maybe bring it up on the social.microsoft.com?
sorry we couldn't be of more help.
Thank you for replying. I'll copy and paste my problem onto the sites you recommended from desktop tonight.
Hi
Can someone tell me why the bluetooth in my car won't synch with the contacts on my htc one x unless I create the contact on the phone memory rather than use them from the Google account?
Go to people> top left choose the phonebook as Phone - contacts then show up in the cars bluetooth contact list
If i choose phonebook as google - contacts dont show up
Anyone know why? I assume the contacts from the google phonebook aren't saved to the phones memory? I thought they were when you sync your phone with gmail
Thanks
Manny
have i posted this in wrong place?
Someone must have a thought on this?
The only way is to transfer all of my contacts to the phone memory from google?
If i create a new contact on the phone memory it gets overwritten by the google sync
Well i only synced my contacts with google and if i go to contacts i see the list of names that are also in my google account, i tried it in my car today and those names & numbers showed up via bluetooth. Even the missed and chosen calls. Don't know what your problem could be ! .... sorry

When you go to the people app on your phone, which phonebooks have been selected?
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone could help, I have my G3 connected to my 2014 Audi fine, can stream music via Spotify and also make calls using the handsfree however the phonebook is messed up.
As I use my phone for work this is getting to be an issue, I have set the G3 up so I only see contacts from my phone and not external accounts such as Facebook etc. Additionally I have also configured it so it only include contacts with phone numbers.
I have around 100 contacts on the phone however when it sync's with the Audi it picks up 800 from somewhere, these are a combination of e-mail accounts that I have e-mailed in gmail over the years.
Has anyone ever seen this? Prior to this I have a Nexus 5 which synched fine without any issues as expected.
Thanks in advance.
