I'm trying to update to the latest PA, but it won't flash unless I upgrade my bootloader. I've never done this before and don't know where to start
There's lots of info about it and two threads dedicated to it in the development section. One is the T999 firmware, the other is the T999V firmware.
What model is your phone?

Sgh t999. Thanks! I'll take a look.
This is the thread you want. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282603
UVDMD5 is the latest available, but if you plan on running cm or aosp roms you may want to use UVDLJC instead. Both should be in the op.
Alternatively, you can Odin flash the latest firmware to achieve the same result. With the one I linked to though it won't flash over your current rom.

So I feel as if after the OTA UVALH2 update my network signal has gotten worse. Before at home I was able to maintain a ping around 80ms-90ms. Now it maintains around 110ms-120ms.
How would I go about going back to the previous version?
Rooted, Stock Rom.
Have you tried the modems available in dev section?
To go back just use odin, or flash a stock rom from dev section. I think MrRobinson still has UVALEM if you want to use that to keep root.

UVALEM was what was before UVALH2? Can you link me to that?
If your rooted, try the modem flashing tool:

UVALEM was the original, out of the box, stock build. UVALH2 is the only official update released.
MrRobinsons thread is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28740768
Its usually pretty close to the top in development.

I'm trying to find 4.2.1 ROMs to flash, but having a hard time telling which ROMs are 4.2 unless it says it in the thread title. Is that the only way to really tell? I tried Google but I don't want to download something not for sprint. Any advice?

Read the entire op. It will say based on for example LJ7 which is sprints latest official version of 4.1.1.

Like what he said; it's in the title of the thread / OP.
Though if you're looking for 4.2.x, they'll be only AOSP roms as of now. And please only flash sprint roms.

Try the sprint sg3 original development thread. And check out the 4.2.1 slim ROM. You'll like it!

I was just looking at that one and considering it. Think I will! Thanks everyone. To update my prl, radio I need to flash back to stock and unroot right? Not sure if I need to do that or not..
You don't need to unroot, you just need to be on a TW rom for prl and profile update. To update modems(radios) just find a zip you can flash in recovery.
Hi,
I have a AT&T galaxy s3. It always takes forever to get a software upgrade.
I am wondering if I can upgrade the android system to the latest version whenever it comes out if I flash the s3 rom to the original stock rom (from the official android website, not third party rom).
If yes, how I can do that? Can anyone give me a link of the tutorial about how to flash back to the official android stock rom?
Appreciate!

Here is everything you need. Don't forget to read and most importantly, don't forget to update bootloader if your flashing past 4.1.2

I still can't figure this out. I tried flashing modems, bootloaders, and no matter what I end up with the Status 7 error when trying to flash a recent CM nightly or RC.
Are those stock ROMs in the link up to date?
First off I own a Metro t999N
Its GSM and uses lte data from T-Mobile towers... we all know that
We all know that they use tmo Lte towers and this device is a lte model.. that's clear.
Everyone flashes T-Mobile roms on the metro s3 and Metro s4 with no issues .... but I know with past experience owning a t999L you had to stick to the Lte model Roms the t999 roms wont flash on a lte device.
There wasn't any info I could find about my t999n as to if we use t999 or t999L based roms on the New metro GSM Lte s3
I'm assuming it would be the t999l roms and generally I don't ask such a basic question...but I couldn't find a straight Google answer
But I know from past better safe to ask.

There are no T999 l/n/v ROMs. It's all T999. You guys just have separate firmware (bootloader, baseband, etc). That firmware is in the linked thread.
If the ROMs aren't flashing for you, it's probably because you're using TWRP for the T999 l/n/v, or whatever is out there. You need to use the original T999 recoveries to flash T999 ROMs.
Does that answer your questions?
Yup, it's all stated in the thread. I believe the recovery to use is covered in the faq, as well as anything else to look out for. You did read all OP's in their entirety, didn't you?

Just got this T999L the other day, now using the 999N modem and have flashed several ROMs with no problem. So I'm sure you'll be able to do the same.

I was just unclear and yes I've read a lot, haven't flashed one t999 rom yet on my t999N
But guess now ill try I am using the cwm recovery flashed from rom manager for the original t999 for metro, as that's the only available in rom manager seems to work since I made a nandroid with it
Sent from my SGH-T999L using xda app-developers app
Don't install recovery using Rom or goo manager. Sure it'll work on your device, but many of the roms here are coded to check the device and/or recovery. Since none of the devs knew to add yours, most didn't, so even though the Rom would work, it won't flash unless you have the d2tmo recovery.
If you have further questions about it, may I suggest asking in that thread? That way others who might search for similar info can find everything in one place.

I think I'm pretty certain about this
Cause I flashed a rom and only have edge data
Is it also necessary to flash the mb7 lte kernel+modules zip in your links on top of a or any t999 roms in order to get Lte data on my t999n

If you are stuck on Edge, then check your imei. Don't post it, just tell me if it's zero.
Depending on the Rom, it's not going to always display what you expect. This should also be covered in the faq, Ali g with how to tell your true connection

Can someone provide me with the link to download the stock 4.3 please.
Also, if I upgrade from the stock tar I wont be able to use custom Roms anymore correct? Or is there a way now to do so.
Tbh I'm a flash aholic and spend a lot of time messing with my phone. I love being able to have the latest software etc.. But I've come to a point where I just want it to work. Next device will be a nexus if I want updated software.
Thanks!!

Does it include boot loader, baseband everything. An untouched tar? Also do I have to be on stock 4.2.2 to Odin or can I just Odin on any ROM?
