any other firmware available with this feature.

Only some custom ICS-based ROMs have that feature. Or you can install that feature yourself, check Themes and Apps section, it should be there, if I am not mistaken. Though no guarantees that it works 100% perfectly, because this is ported to our devices and may have some compability issues.

[Q] How to make the livekey work?

Hey Guys,
I recently bought new sony livesound headphones for my xperia pro mk16i and the headphones have got a "livekey" which should be capable of starting apps and other stuff. However it doesn't work at all. No options when I click and/or hold the livekey. Otherwise the volume keys and the middle key for pausing and playing music do work.
In case it's important: I am using the Ultimate HD 2.0.3 ROM by jader and the arcknight kernel for xperia pro.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Probably ROM or kernel have no such support for the key.

Thanks, but how do I figure out which one is the problem? I already asked this question in the Q&A thread for the ROM I use, but nobody answered.
I would really appreciate any help in finding the cause of the livekey issue!

It's the Rom's problem. The app needed for livekey to work is removed as bloatware.

If you're on an AOSP rom, it will probably never work. You'll need a stock rom. It's like the galaxy s3's ability to call whoever is on your screen by holding your phone to your face. It's a feature of the stock rom.

stock based enough?

I think we're all interested in having a port. The real question is; is it possible? While the answer to that is yes, it would take a HUGE amount of work to do.

if i get free time im thinking to try to port xperia z rom i wont pormise anything if i succes i will shere here
Already tried to port it to both my pro and note 2. Its too much of a hassle to go through. Porting the rom is the easiest part, it gets tough when a manufacturer that does loads of modifications is involved I.e Sony, Samsung, HTC. Getting it to boot would require some changes to the ramdisk files and kernel replaced. Unfortunately it doesn't get anything to work

Biggest problem is making the Sony apps work on AOSP roms. Walkman is working for example, but I want the Sony messaging app too and many more. How to do this? mod framework, change the app itself???
maybe

Thats easy. Firstly change the sig / lib requirements (implement). then add the 'conv_' pngs from sony framework-res to aosp framework-res. Lastly logcat and modify smali files in framework.jar and permissions for the app and its services
Thanks a lot, will try it as soon as I have time. (I'm surprised no one has tried it before...)

I did try that on cm9 with the xperia phone book. Its just too much of a hassle to get everything to work and you have to redo everything on the latest cm release

Xperia S lag and smoothness issues

Hello all.
I have my Xperia S for one month now and I am becoming more and more frustrated with the frequent lags and slowness of the system in general.
On the same day I bought it, I discovered that I was with a locked bootloader and from then on, despite my attempts to improve the system by rooting and trying several Roms I am about to give up hope.
I am now with KA25 ROM but already tried XZXperience 2 and Turbo ROM. From all of these I must say that sooner or later the system becomes laggy and starts to have strangely large access times to some actions or apps.
I notice this in the contacts app a lot, in the messaging app, on the in-call and after call screens, slow loading times while performing normal tasks, like in the album scrolling and accessing images, hiccups and annoying sounds within the Walkman app. Don't know where to even start or stop.
Sometimes I feel that it must be something related to ICS but I would like to have your opinion on these issues.
Also, I am having thoughts about going back to basics and just factory reset the whole phone. Would this clean all of the "debris" the rooting and appliance of several Roms could have done to the phone?
How would I do this? Just flashing with flashtool a clean stock image?
Any advice or any second thoughts, or even the sharing of similar experiences would be great and I would be grateful.
Looking to hear from you soon.

This problem is well known... ICS on this device is very laggy and bad.

Thanks for the feedback. When you mention tweaks what do you precisely mean? Because I have tried some tools like Pimp my ROM which state to have entropy generators and other speed tweaks but up until now it is pretty much of the same...
However I must agree that waiting for Jelly Bean is the most straightforward solution however I am surprised that a good device like Xperia S has this difficulty dealing with ICS or any usual tasks.
I came from an HTC Sensation XE and with ICS ROMS these issues were not so frequent.
However and I must address this in the topic I have been restoring the apps from ROM manager when changing ROM. Would this have any influence in the short term to the system stability and general speed?
Many thanks.

Here's what i did, hope i can help you with smoothness.First of all clean flash your stock ftf to remove all tweaks. After that flash the seeder zip file in cwm(search for it in forum). No other tweaks should be there except the touch screen pressure in system-user-idc set it to .001.Now install Mr.Nice guy app in playstore or from blackmart.Download the latest xperia launcher v 2.05b (set its transparency of app drawer to 70%,app drawer size 6*5).Now in mr.nice guy app set this xperia launcher priority to high. Thats it now you will have a very smooth rom.Not to mention you can always install the sony widgets for this launcher

Yup entropy works but the zip i mentioned to you doesn't clashes with the rgnd files in snapdragon devices. Also it generates entropy as per device requirement & not high or all the time

Thanks for the clarification. Nice to understand these things.
Regarding your advices I am only having trouble with Mr. Nice Guy app as it is a paid one and reviews are not very convincing.
However I am having up until now a very smoother experience, nevertheless I am considering changing the launcher as this one is not allowing any changes with the icons and also my favourite widget (Walkman) still does not appear.
Any advices?
Thanks.

It's not a bug, BE works on GB for Xperia S with unlocked bootloader, the OP is telling nothing new (as if he's the only one who is running his phone with GB and an unlocked bootloader). Apparantly BE only started needing drm-keys from ICS and later updates, it's pretty unclear to me why it broke. Since it's been almost a year since that update, I'm assuming porting the GB version to ICS and JB isn't very easy (if it is even possible).
Sony is usually quite supportive to developers (releasing kernel sources etc), I don't really get why they'd break the BE for BL unlocked phones...
hmm
