[ROM] Google Edition 4.2.2 [Clean][Slim][280MB]

Deprecated. My 4.3 (with Mobeam support!) can be found HERE.
This ROM is more or less a debloated stock GE. No mods really. Just a clean ROM so you can add to it as you wish.

This ROM uses a Sprint (L720) branded build.prop to make Wallet work out-of-the-box. There should be no problems with using a different branding from the phone you actually have. If you want to rebrand it to AT&T (I337) or Canadian (I337M), flash the attached build.prop but Wallet may stop working. To keep Wallet working with the AT&T or Canadian build.prop, use Nottach but some people have reported problems with Nottach.

I have no idea why you'd want the TW calendar instead of the Google calendar but you can try to pull the TW calendar from a TW ROM and stick it in system/apps. There's a good chance it'll work. I don't have a TW ROM to work with at the moment.

so i guess the problem with this ROM is simply there are no problems...seriously though this thing is awesome, cool beans...sucks people will have to dig to find a solid experience. loved being able to build it into what i wanted, rather than stripping one down
EDIT: noticing mediocre wifi performance, but i think this is universal on the GE roms? anyone else

I'm using the same kernel and modules as the other GE ROMs so wifi experience should be the same.
FYI, I am intentionally not updating this ROM with the newest Ausdim kernels because the point is to offer a clean and slim ROM. Ausdim's latest updates depart from stock and add features like overclocking. You can flash his newer kernel on top of this ROM if you really want.

Google Wallet now works out-of-the-box.
Deodexed now so you can flash mods like Jamison904's extended power menu.

So far so good.
Tried to flash through CWM and got stuck in bootloop, installed through TWRP and its going pretty smoothly.
Love how minimal it is, pretty snappy.
Haven't tested wallet functionality, but will test tomorrow.
Will update on pros and cons tomorrow also.

Reboot.

Updated with stock kernel and new Play Store.
Rooting method had to be changed so uninstall all your superuser apps before flashing.

This ROM is by far the closest thing ever to a nexus device. Everything works so far out the box wallet hotspot who cares if it thinks I'm using a sprint phone. The biggest thing to remember is it runs much better with a total wipe before install. Great work.

Do you need to wipe before you flash this rom?

Wipe cache and dalvik cache. Wiping data might be necessary if you run into problems. I recommend wiping data if you're coming from a non-GE ROM. There's just too many differences. In that case, use Titanium Backup to backup user apps.

Why do you want to uninstall SuperSu? Unfortunately, with the stock kernel, you can't just install the superuser app of your choice as you could with modded kernels.

I was thinking the same, but did a complete wipe, that would rid all apps. Like you after a wipe, flashed and all worked perfect.

Reports on this new GE release state that battery life is comparable to 4.2.2.

You don't have to.

Warning! Titanium Backup backup and restore does not work on 4.3!
Update: Change the backup folder to /storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup. That helps.

Apps that are NOT working in 4.3 leaks
Friends, Romans & ROM lovers,
I've installed 4 different Android 4.3 leaks on my T-Mobile Galaxy S4 and here is a list of apps I've found that DO NOT work with ANY of them:
MX Player < VLC-debug-20130802-0106.apk is a working alternative
Titanium Backup < Move the folder as mentioned in a prior post
Dish AnyWhere < functional except if you try to watch any TV shows
Nova Launcher < works but if you add a gallery pic it can't be properly resized/enlarged but Nova backups does restore icons & screen settings.
Found a free app at Playstore that lets you resize gallery pics: Android Photo Widget
Navigation < You must first open Maps and then Navigation icon appears in apps list
Multi-window < Tried multi-window hack but does not work
If anyone finds a leak of 4.3 where the aforementioned work, please let all of us know!

Not sure of who this yeaman guy is but his 4.2 ROM was the smoothest and cleanest so far battery life is as good as or better than stock. Tmobile radios work flawlessly wallet tethering all good. Does anyone know why it's worth it to install 4.3?

I like to be on the cutting edge but IMO 4.3 isn't worth using yet. I'm back to 4.2.2 having experienced too many issues with 4.3.

Try clearing camera data. As a general rule, if an app isn't working, try clearing its data. If that doesn't work, you may want to try a full wipe. If that still doesn't work, it's probably a ROM problem and I can look into it.

Does this have per app DPI? If not, Where would I go about learning to add such a function.

Only change to the newest ROM is that I removed root so you don't have to upgrade. Just flash Chainfire's SuperSU to root. He made some major changes so everyone should flash it now!

Thanks for the ROM. Running on my SGH-I337 with no problems. You might want to consider adding supersu back in. Otherwise you need to run something independent of ROM for initial root. Supersu can't be installed without root to begin with. Play store can take care of the upgrading.

I've been think about it, going back and forth. If you can flash the ROM, might as well flash the latest SuperSU too, so users don't get much out of including a possibly outdated SuperSU in the ROM. On the other hand, users don't lose anything either. Maybe I'll include it again but I'm gonna leave it out for now.

I'm not sure. I've never experienced the bug and have never received any complaints about it.

Updated. I updated this because OmniBeam doesn't work with 4.3 and I like the app enough to stay with 4.2.2.
Rooted with SuperSU 1.60
Updated to Play Store 4.3.11
Added reboot menu
I added a reboot menu even though it departs from stock because really there was no reason not to include it. It's only a few dozen lines of code and very useful.

How is it running? I know the 4.2 gpe is getting battery life.

Nice Dan. Was running dandroid on my s3 before I got the s4. Was wondering when I'd see some of your work over here. Jumped ship to att? Glad I can still run att roms on t mobile but I always come back to t mobile roms because of wifi calling. Downloading now to play around.

Wonderful ROM Dan, Thanks for the upload. Great speed, and everything seems to work with no issues so far. can't get the Kitkat launcher to work yet, keeps requesting for google search even after installing, but I'm sure i can fix that.
It sucks to own the an expensive smartphone and yet be the last to get a routine update, damn Samsung.
Just a noob question if you don't mind. The only feature of TW i love is the Samsung link app. the fact that it flawlessly connects to my laptop for file exploration is just amazing. so is there anyway to install it on this ROM? I can live without it, but life would not really be the same.
