Hello,
Need some help.
Unbranded my desire today which went well. It asked me if I wanted to update the software OTA which I clicked yes to. This is where it all went wrong, phone now comes up with Network locked unlock sim.
Can anyone help me get round this, I read a thread a couple of days ago where someone had the same problem but I can't for the life of me find it. Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi there mate. I dont know the answer to your problem but can say that no one else has ever posted that exact error. Can you confirm the EXACT wording of the error and and numbers it may throw. If its already correct (including any punctuation) it seems you have a very unique problem.

It may not have been here but I think it was.
Basically it was a branded Orange Desire.
After much reading I decided that I wanted to get of all the Orange stuff that comes bundled and cannot be removed.
I followed a guide to de-brand the phone which worked perfectly. When I first turned the phone on and checked the software update it said 1 update was available, I chose to download and install the update. When I checked the phone version it was 2.1update 1 (I think).
Turned the phone off and on again and went back into the software update and was offered another update which I assumed was Froyo, chose to download and install that via wifi. Everything seemed to work but when the phone rebooted it came up with the following message "SIM network unlock PIN" there is no other error code and it wants an 8 digit code.
Called Orange and played dumb and they said that they would send me a new phone but I've told them to hold off for now.
Thank in advance.
Hmmm looks like you may have flashed a Branded ROM for another provider which I didn't thik had any effect on provider locks. But in the lack of help from anywhere else you could always try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748105 which is what I did on my Virgin Mobile UK Branded and locked phone. SOrry I cant help further
You could buy an unlock code online..That should sort it.
It looks like your using an incompatible radio. Which version are you using? To find out go to settings - about phone then it should be baseband version?

No can do, can't get into the phone at all.
I'm trying to install the Froyo update from the SD card as posted by jamesmcuk, currently installing so I'll post back what happens.
fingers crossed for you mate!!!!!!!!

Wanted to post back, thanks for the great advice. Hope this thread cones in useful for someone else.
Got a fully up to date Droid, didn't have to pay Orange for the Network unlock code either lol
really pleased mate well done! Its scary **** when you may have to pay out for the bugger lol
good advice in this thread
Got it up and running yet?
If not, take the SIM out and find the software version in settings. If it's something like:
x.xx.405.x
then you have an unbranded ROM which most people have had issues with with Orange phones. You could try updating to Froyo if the OTA update is still available as that should flash a working radio or just buy an unlock code for about a tenner that would be best in the long run.
Just to let you know that the latest radio is compatible with orange (I have it) its 5.09.00.20. Shouldn't sim lock your phone. Good luck. Hope you get it sorted.

This post says that he sorted it.
i am sure its an incorrect radio take your sim out and you should have access , i ended up rooting the device using revoke one click method very easy just follow carfully then i installed a custom rom and a new radio
this is the orange one for bootloader 0.75 "update-bravo-radio-32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11-signed" all working great the rom i used was "Official_FroYo_Market_fixed"
hope this helps actually just upgraded radio to 5.09 with no problem
Yeah got this sorted peeps.
Didn't mess around looking up radio's or anything like that.
This is what happened to me.
1. Debranded Orange Desire from 2.1update1 to Generic 2.1
2. Upgraded OTA from Generic 2.1 to 2.1update1
3. Was offered and accepted update to Froyo
4. Got error saying SIM locked unlock sim
5. Put Froyo ROM onto SD card and loaded it via recovery
6. Enjoyed having the last laugh over Orange technical support
Thank you to jamesmcuk who's post (I think it was 4 or 5) resolved my problem, would suggest the same process to anyone else who had the same problem that I had.
On another note, how do I check what radio version I have and if it's upto date?

Same one I'm runnin'
If anyone here has SEUS Pro and an unlocked bootloader, can they check something for me?
I've been told that SEUS Pro is capable of updating the firmware on handsets that have had their bootloaders unlocked but that doing so re-locks the bootloader.
If someone is willing to check that, I'd very much appreciate it.
Apparently this feature may well be rolled out in the next update to the standard version of SEUS, thus fulfilling the promise that those of us with unlocked bootloaders will still be able to update our handsets via SEUS.
I think in the dev section there's a thread on how to relock your bootloader
I know there is, it's got nothing to do with this thread.
Quick question. What exactly is SEUS Pro? I mean I haven't seen a pro version. And what does it offer over the regular SEUS?
It's a version of SEUS that's not publicly available.
It has a few extra options that the standard version hasn't, is quicker apparently and requires some sort of log-in to use.
It's a stepping stone between SEUS that the public use and EMMA which engineers use.
Nice, where can i get seus pro ? ^^
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
Oh ok. Didn't know that but thought you might have confused it with EMMA. Thanks for the info
It uses the same servers as EMMA apparently but it's for people that aren't engineers.
I believe you have to apply for a login, I'm sure I saw a page somewhere on SE's site allowing you to do so.
*Bump*
In the hope someone might be able to actually help.
Try PM'ing unknown13x he may know the answer.
will try to get seus pro if i succeed I will try it for you
edit : getting somewhere, just for info and download : http://www.sonyericsson.com/retailsupport/update_service/download.aspx?locale=gb-en
edit 2 : will continue tomorrow, I need my phone for now
If you can, that'd be great.
At the end of the day, it's not the end of the world but from what I was told, it sound like SEUS Pro is used to test out news features and can give us an inside line on up-coming updates to the standard version.
''Your email address has been verified
An email will be sent after Sony Ericsson has validated your Update Service Pro account request.''
And now we wait, I'l keep you updated
Thanks again.
Out of interest, if it's not too nosy on my part, what do you do that you might be able to qualify to use SEUS Pro?
Because last time I looked, you basically had to justify getting a login.

Still, if you can get a login, I should be able to do so too - I work for a mobile phone retailer in the UK.

Hello,
I recently tried to update my Xperia ZL L35H (purchased in China) to the latest 10.3.A.0.423 firmware. I chose the C6502 variant because it seemed that this was the same model with some regional variations. All worked well, until I tested the mobile data connection, which was non-existent. Considering that both L35H and C6502 both use HSPA, this incompatibility with the C6502 firmware was surprising. I even used the AOKP ROM for awhile and had no issues with data connectivity.
What's worse, I had my CWM backups on internal storage. My bad, I know. Updating to the 10.3.A.0.423 erased my internal storage, so, no more stock firmware backups.
I would be most grateful if some one could help me either:
*Help me find a L35H firmware, or
*Help me troubleshoot the data connection on the C6502 10.3.A.0.423 firmware.
L35h
Glad to see someone else has the L35h. I'm afraid I can't help you with your problem, but I was wondering if you were able to root it, and how?
I rooted mine with Bin4ry's script, but then made the mistake of upgrading, not knowing that it would remove the root. (I'm completely new to Android and had no idea that the phone would come with a bastardized version of Android that doesn't even allow a Google account to be on it, without rooting.) Now I'm on 10.1.1.A.1.253, but none of the rooting scripts will root it now.
I rooted the 253 using :
http://www.droidkube.com/how-to-root-sony-xperia-zl-and-install-cwm-recovery/
Then lost root after updating to 10.3.A.0.423. I rooted that using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43288981
Thanks, I might have to do it this way ultimately. I'm afraid of destroying my phone completely, but maybe it's the only way I'll be able to do it.

Maybe you could help me out here. What 253 variant did you use? Does everything work on it? What shows for "Model Number" under "About Phone" in settings? Could you post a download link for me?
I got it to work. I'm currently using the C6503, but the C6502 might have worked as well.
The key in to go into Settings/Xperia and click on "Internet settings". Afetr a brief download, my 3G data was back!
Everything appears to be working fine! No more L35H!

You have to register and log in to activate the download link on the xperiablog page. Both the C6503 and the C6502 worked for me. Supposedly, the C6503 adds LTE support, but I don't know if there's a hardware difference to reflect that. I've been using this firmmware for a week now, and it's been flawless.
Also, check out Doomlord's easy rooting toolkit (for root) and XZDualRecovery (for CWM and TWRP) here on XDA, both of which work flawlessly on this firmware as tested on my device.
Check out my post on this page if you're disappointed with the stock sound volume limitation.
And don't forget the "thanks" button if you appreciate my help

I'd go with whichever one matches where you're at. I'd have to look it up to know for sure. Both the Indonesia and the MEA (Middle East?) ones worked on mine, and I'm in China. Some locations use the same bands, others don't. I'm no expert in how that works. I might be wrong here, but I think the Settings/Xperia/Internet Settings auto-patch takes care of that for you. My 3G (or any data connection) didn't work until I took care of that.

Haven't noticed any problem like that. Or any real problems. Maybe the notification/SMS sounds are a bit wonky, but nothing that's really bothered me or is especially noticeable. Am still getting notices about how "this version of Android doesn't allow in-app payments" or something like that. I expected those to go away. But maybe it's just because I'm in China with a China Mobile SIM.
Hi Guys! I too brought sony xperia L35H from china....and would like to flash the MEA C6503 version. I installed the flash tool and made the FTF file ready. while just to make sure everything is alright i connected my phone and opened the flash tool. It says "device connected with USB debugging off", although i have enabled usb debugging in my phone. Do i have to install the adb as well or am i missing something. Any help is highly appreciated! Thanks
EDIT- SOLVED
Hi guys
I do have an unusual situation here. Got a Honor View 20 Test device (or presample) directly from a Honor guy. I'm really happy about it as the bootloader is already unlocked. Okay, I honestly don't know what's the plus about it as I can't find a TWRP for this one.
Anyway, my main issue is the installed test ROM:
It shows:
Model: VNA-L29
EMUI Version 8.1
Android Version 8.0
Internal Memory 32GB
RAM 4GB
Using DevCheck System Info App it shows the truth:
Android Version 9.0
Internal Memory 128GB
RAM 6GB
There are some testing apps on it which I can't uninstall. One of them locks the phone after some days if I'm logging in. I have to do a hard reset to make it work again.
Updating the ROM in Recovery doesn't work. Uninstalling the app doesn't work. I'm thinking about trying to update to an official ROM thru DLOAD or HiSuite but this would lock the bootloader I guess - if it's even possible. So if I would be able to install TWRP and an official ROM to use with TWRP I should be able to update it.
Any idea? Every help is appreciated! Thank you!
---------------------
Update: I took the risk and just flashed the actual ROM 238 from androidhost.ru thru DLOAD. Phone works like charm and device still has an unlocked bootloader.
Thanks!

I got this one for free so I wanna make the best out of it.
Huawei/Honor devices cannot be unlocked. So there is no active community with CFW developements so there is no point whatsoever of going in to shady sites and trying to 'unlock' your device bootloader.
You can try to update with download method(as it is the only way) If you brick the phone just recycle it and be done with it. There is not many options.

Thanks for your feedback. As I wrote at the end of my first post I updated with the regular firmware. Everything works smooth and the bootloader is still unlocked.
I'll try this at the weekend with the manual I found on XDA. There are CFW for a lot of Honor and Huawei devices but the firmware is quite old so I'll not even try .

Maybe it's just fake

Why would you say that when it is clearly possible? My Honor View 20 is unlocked and has Magisk running on it. There are other people with an unlocked bootloader, just look at the "Root Guide" Thread.
The problem is getting the unlock code. As far as i know there are no trustworthy providers at the moment so please be carfeful!

Because there is no official way to unlock phones bootloader(you cannot get unlock code, at least officially) If you are willing to give your personal info in shady sites, that is your own risk and fault if your IMEI get's in to wrong hands....
So basicly im guessing there is 90% locked vs 10% unlocked Huawei/Honor phones in the world. :good: Congrats if you are 'geek' enough and went true the shady process to get in those 10%. BUT there is no active developements of CFW. Yes there is some but they are unstable...
Oh yeah and official security apps(like banking, to pay with nfc) for security reasons check phones bootloader and if it is rooted/unlocked then you cannot start them. I dont know if it is worth the trouble anymore to bang on your chest and root your android just because of ''freedom''....
Again, it IS possible, thats what i'm saying. Nothing more, nothing less. So if you say 'its is not possible to unlock bootloader' then thats just plain wrong. Everyone should be able to make an informed decision for themselves, we're not children anymore. I definitely agree that you shouldn't give your data to some shady site.
In addition, i'm not sure what unlocking and rooting yout phone has to do with 'banging on your chest'.
Although the advantages may be minor nowadays, they are still there. The banking apps (i'm using) work just fine. If you are used to rooting your phone then its hard to accept all the restrictions
Regards
Previously ive rooted all my androids aswell. But ive stopped on my last main device(4years ago) because when you have full official support, whats the point? The hustle of manually flashing weekly because of updates and bug fixes... Meehh. Its not 2010 anymore when it was 'cool' to have a rooted phone(thats why the chest expression. )
If the device is like 3years old and dosent have update support anymore from the manufacturer
then it is a different story. Then you can flash newer custom android version and play with the device more to extend phone pocket life.
Ehmm i guess it is in country's security law or something. Because here where i live none of the banking apps work if you have rooted phone, when you open it just sayes that security check failed and error code(that you have a rooted phone)
neither lot of cupon apps where there is your sensitive info. ???Even mcdonalds app dosent let to use cupons on my rooted phone.
I have older rooted android to play on in my spare time. ?
Think we're on the same page anyway, right?
Guess i am lucky that i have rooted phone with apps and updates working. Though, i have to mention this again, i'm not sure what that has to do with being cool. Ppl are not bragging about it (at least no one i know ever has), its just that i like to have as many customization options as possible. Coming from a Xiaomi device i felt pretty restricted at the beginning
Doesn't matter, have a nice day!

Hi,
It seems like there is no update for my device, since I bought it. I have checked manually on the phone and in Xperia companion as well.
In general I am not really interested in updates, but as I read the "Green tint" issue is solved by software upgrade, so it would be great to have it.
These is the current one:
Phone software revision:
62.0.A.3.28
GLOBALEEA-A2 - user
I also don't know what the "-user" means here. As I see other forum member got the update for GLOBALEEA-A2 (without the "-user" if I understood well).
Is it something I can do for getting the upgrade, or should I just wait (I am aware of upgrades can come later for different CDAs)?
Thank you in advance.
I would recommend you to try reflashing your phone via Sony's official flashing tool Emma. It does often help with software-related problems such as this.
Thanks,
I will do so.
Is flashing with Emma voids warranty? Is it deletes user data (like factory reset)?
Thanks and Merry Christmas

You need to unlock bootloader which voids the warranty. So unfortunately yes.
But you can always relock it afterwards which may make your warranty show as non-void.
It does delete all user data as you are flashing the firmware and overwriting the full storage.
Happy holidays.
First you can try Xperia companion, if that doesn't work you can use XperiFirm to download the firmware and then use Newflasher to flash it. You should remove persist file from the firmware before flashing. This method requires no bootloader unlock.
Otherwise there's EMMA as mentioned.

Thanks, update works after repair software
The same to me, I bought an Xperia 10 III directly from the Sony store, that is no brand, with software version 62.0.A.3.28 GLOBALEEA-A2 - user. I tried several times to get updates, both from the device and from PC (Xperia Companion), with no luck.
At the end, I backed up the phone twice, first time manually connecting it the my PC, second time via Google One, than I used the Xperia Companion to make a Software Repair, now I have 62.0.A.3.163. This way is rather boring since I had to manually re-set several apps, which weren't correctly restored from the backup(s).
I hope I will able to get updates in the future, if this is not the case I will try the XperiFirm + Newflasher way in order to try to keep my data.

hi lufei, just for my curiosity: the persist file you mention to remove, can you tell me why?
I've flashed the 10 III and 5 II (using Newflasher) for the same problem mentioned here in the thread, unfortunately. Many Xperia are afflicted by this problem with no OTA updates and i don't know why.
For me, re-locking the bootloader helped. It is possible that the unlocked bootloader is blocking updates.

According to the Newflasher thread on XDA you will lose attest keys if you do, which might affect functionality.
really thanks guys. I'm not an expert in the modding, and every info can help me to better understand the situation.
