.bin files?

Why do some developere put the .apk in a .bin file? Is there any way to open it on my Evo, not using my computer?

Remove the bin at the end of the file ex: bootanimation.bin just rename to bootanimation.apk and it should work. This happens to me on certain sense roms; try using a different file manager if you're having problems renaming like es file manager or androzip.
Thanks so much man!!

What are you trying to do?
Using root explorer you can copy the apk to the system folder if necessary.

With a system level file manager like Root Explorer or ES Explorer with root explore enabled, copy the camera's apk to the system/app folder and then enable the permissions and reboot or hot restart your device. That *should* work for you, however, if you are trying to install it on an AOSP rom, i highly doubt it will work for you.

If you're using Root Explorer you press and hold on the apk and click permissions and check all the boxes.

stock file folder root

is there any way to give stock file manager root access so I can copy/paste .apk, delete some old backups I did from CWM ect.
I know there is a bunch of file managers on the GPlay but i like the smooth and simplicity of the stock one.
thanks

I use solid explorer, but root explorer, es file explorer, or astro are all good. If you can't get it to work with astro, try one of the others. It would help if you linked the icon pack you're talking about.

@AbhimanyuAryan - just delete the hosts file in /system/etc (Or rename it to something else to be safe)
Obviously that's after mouting system as r/w - but I guess you should already know that.

Either. I said rename since you could easily rename it back to restore in case something happens (highly unlikely). Just to be safe.
PS: You can do that with Root explorer, yes. Or EZ.
