Have you tried this?-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273994. You will need root explorer or Total Commander Text Editor to use this method. Try signing into Google Play and pushing the app to the phone.

yes everything wiped.
4.0.2 -> 4.0.4 OTA is like lets say "Windows Vista to Windows 7 Upgrade" saves all data and stuff.
Factory Image is like installing Windows 7 as a fresh new start ("reformatting")

If you are doing the full factory flash you can use the toolkit - it is super easy and is useful even if you want to do the OTA update (I used it and the CWM non-flash method). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
If you want to do the update use the methods here (I used method 2) and used the CWM from the toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419170
how to root 4.0.4? i've tried temporary cwm + su.zip like i did on 4.0.2……with no luck……
su and superuser are installed but it cannot acquire the privilege, nor does it pop up the confirmation dialogue
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I guess the way to do this would be to
1: download the yakju-imm76d-factory-c6e807a1.tgz
2: extract the zip
3: copy the image-yakju-imm76d.zip to your SD
4: use clockwork to wipe/clean cache
5: use clockwork to install from SD file name (image-yakju-imm76d.zip)
6: Reboot
Clean image!!
or am I wrong?

I guess it's because of the secured kernel of stock rom. Have you tried custom kernel like franco's or Glados?
I want to try it myself but I'm at work.
EDIT: Beware though, franco said something along the line that his kernel does not work with 4.0.4 because of different propriety binaries. So a nandroid backup before is recommended.

dont flash any 4.0.3 kernels.. even they say its 4.0.4.. dont!!
kernel source will be out soon
So I was running Slimbean 6.2 weekly with ktoonez 6.8 kernel and decided to go into recovery (CWM Touch 6.0.3) to fix permissions and clear cache since I was having some battery drain issues. After I hit fix permissions it started to do so and then all of a sudden my phone rebooted and gets stuck at the splash screen. Went back into recovery to try and fix permissions again same thing happens. Tried clearing cache and doing a normal reboot still stuck at splash screen. I tried doing a factory reset but it keeps rebooting right when it gets to formatting data. So essentially I can do anything aside from format data so I am guessing there's some corrupt file there that's keeping me from formatting it. I've tried installing different ROM's that I have on my SD card but they always get stuck at the splash screen. Doing a restore doesn't work as once it gets to restoring data the phone reboots. I checked report error or something along those lines in CWM Advanced and it said can't format /emmc which I'm not sure what that means.
I've looked around but haven't been able to find any information on how to fix this. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Ok go into CWM wipe cache, wipe dalvik and do factory reset. Then flash any rom which you have on your phone storage. Does this work?

Even better, download one of the Odin 1-clicks. Connect your phone, open the 1-click and stand back while it does its magic.
EDIT: Here http://rwilco12.com/Files/Devices/S...ooted/SPH-L710_MD4_1130792_Rooted_Restore.exe

Hmm, no, I can't find odin flashable. I tried 4.1.2 with Superuser root and it worked, then I went back to 4.3 and I lost system mount again. When I flash the zip file for the root the final in the log is "unmounting system" and something else... When I try to manually mount it, it says that my root may have been lost or it doesn't do anything, it goes back to unmounted. Can you tell me where can I get the odin flashable and if it's possible to do it via Odin mobile?

hello everyone, i recently bought a new htc one m8 .
Locked to Wind.
Now i rooted the phone, enabled s-off and unlocked it.
2 days later i downloaded titanium and accidentally deleted something i dont know what,
the phone worked properly still except i couldnt access settings, every time i clicked settings it would back me out. So me being the noob I am restored the phone, and that didnt work. So now I have a HTC One that cant go into settings.
I tried several tutorials telling me to flash the original stock rom onto it except I cant access USB Debugging since i cant access settings.
So am I screwed or is there anything I can do?
Would really appreciate any help?

Why don't you just flash a custom recovery such as TWRP then flash a stock backup?

Firstly, I am not the op, so I do not get why you quoted me on that.
Secondly, the op alr said he restored his phone but it did not work.

I quoted you by mistake. Also when the op says he restored his phone I assume he means factory reset which will not restore anything deleted from the system partition. There's no reason why flashing a backup won't work unless he's done something to the partitions. He's S—off , boot loader unlocked so can't see why it wouldn't work if he uses the appropriate backup.

Well don't worry man your phone is not broken you just gotta find the right fix. Kinda hard helping because it could be several different things. I would try a different version of odin or a different pc before i start flashing away

I used the latest CF Auto Root to re-root it, then installed the TWRP app from the Play Store, then was able to successfully reinstall TWRP. Now I'm booting to an AOSP ROM.
