just a poll to know what is the most common rom and kernel ...
the poll is going to be about kernels as there is alot of roms so a i will leave it to discussion
i don't want it to be which is best but more of which is popular and may be a couple words about it's adv. disadv.
i am using Perseus kernel .... dunno just felt its good .. other kernel distort my speaker
stock deodex sammy rom .. (couple visual mods and full screan caller + extended power menu )
Perseus kernel... Crash rom.. Simplistic framework.. Xposed framework.. Twrp recovery.. Overclock at 1800 Mhz.. But sometimes auto restart and and the whole system not responding .. Still don't know why, may be due to Overclocking..Is it due to Kernel fault?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I usually use Perseus. Had my note for 5-6 weeks, tried 6 ROMs so far. Most impressed WITH (and still using) X-Note 3.2. Total ROM size is 350 MB so its stripped down with the good Samsung apps left in. S Note is offered as seperate 100 MB zip to flash if you choose.
Subtly and elegantly themed, not jazzy or flashy - more like understated black and grey tones. Includes xposed plus some nice mods e.g. transparent status bar etc and boots at 260 DPI which is so much better than stock 320.
ROM comes bundled with Wanam Adam kernel
Well, there's my 2 cents
Well, Perseus kernel for me because of AMOLED color profile and Wolfson sound options in STweaks app.
Phoenix rom since it nicely integrates Xposed and 240dpi mod @ install time (along with a lot of mods in Aroma Installer) along with Internal / Externa SD switch. It was nice to clean everything then install system without any strange operations afterwards.
Now overclocked / undervolted (a lot) and customized with Xposed modules and very happy with it. Haven't had an error or reboot in 3 weeks despite 1.8Ghz CPU and 733 GPU OC.
Battery is great with Perseus, easily 7-8 hours of screen on time over 48-60 hours between charging.
after using antutu (for the first time) i got strange results
sammy rom with perseus oc to 1.8 and under volted a little ..i get about around 9500 ..
same rom with adam kernel 1.6 under volted i got 14680
flashed couple aosp roms .. got 17800 and 16900 ...
so what am doing wrong ?
I'm in Love with Redpill Kernel.. it gave me great antutu score and great experience
i want to know the best rom\kernel combo that make a good benchmark score ..??
anybody got an answer

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
tried saber recently and i got very good performance .. but i like Perseus controls more especially audio
Omega ROM v18 .NEAk kernal very li8 and no lagging. including Wolfson audio controle ...The best part MULTI CORE MANAGER for naormal usage and awsome for GAMING
Big fan of xnote and perseus combination. Now switched to assassins batterylife breathtakingly amazing and redpill... For better sound control and more undervolting compared to perseus.
For those of you running TouchWiz ROM and hasn't update FW since March, then TerraBuzz is the answer for your kernel. Only screen got above 30%, android os, android system, etc. is below 15% with this kernel.
is it possible to combine multiple options in one kernel .. that would be gr8 ..
for my personal preference ..
1- 100 mhz step in saber
2- screen mods in perseuse
3- audio controls in stweaks of red pill and perseus with the gui of trickster
4- the zzmoove governer of saber give me good battery life with light to normal usage ... which is gr8
wanna know your thoughts .. and if that's even possible
First and only custom kernel I installed: N.E.A.K.
Needed Wolfson chip control, it provides. Also, great battery life!
Using CyanogenMod 10.2 nightly with its kernel... No problems at all, even battery is very good for me.

Don't bother the CM 10.2 color set? It's too much satured.

I recently flashed "myONEv rc1.1" ony my One V..
All smooth, really nice rom
Although while using Rom toolbox and going to cpu sliders, under "performance"
i noticed the core could now reach 2016mHz when before flashing could only go at 1024 ...
I dont really mind with 2016, it isnt even the current clocking, just the max the phone says it can reach, and battery life seems to be the same as before.
Does this tweak come with the new rom ??
Is it normal ?
That would be the work of Titanium Kernel allowing you to overclock.
I would overclock slowly and test over time. If you set it to 2k it'll probably freeze and stop booting/reset and do other quirky things. Slowly OC and find your point of stability if you're going to overclock at all.

Yes. The ROM includes the TITANIUM kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1607976
But you should set it to a lower frequency if it is not stable at that speed
If it is - you are a lucky one
Regards

Well i handnt noticed its set @2016 two days after i flashed the new rom. and its been 24 hours since then. So its 2 days of no problem usage. It works fine with the "maximum" slider so high. Ofcourse the phone is not working at all times @2016..
Thank you for solving my question
as far as I know rc 1.1 doesn't not comes packed with titanium kernel
did u flash it afterwards?

Due to some requests via PM´s I decided to make my kernel finally public, but remember:
This kernel is a personal kernel for my private use, so it´s only containing the tweaks I´m also really using
It´s the older 2.6.35 kernel basing on latest 2.6.35 sources from Arco, so only use it with Arcos CM9 RC2 or RC3 or a custom ROM with 2.6.35 kernel
This kernel is not filled with a lot of governors and schedulers, but only the ones I´m also personally using.
I have made this kernel because non of the custom kernels worked stable for me in the past, even at stock voltages. With this kernel I´m able to run at extreme Undervolting rock solid.
So this kernel was created with stability and battery life in mind. Each modification was tested separately, so everytime I added a tweak or a new feature, I tested the new kernel for a couple of days before adding the next one.
So why I decided to tweak this older kernel rather than going with 3.x kernel?
- Because this kernel is giving me a much better battery life than the 3.x kernel, is running rock solid and also because I don´t really need the new features added into 3.x kernel.
So what it has included:
- UV and OC options
- lowered WiFi voltage
- lowered lcd voltage
- slightly lowered standby / deepsleep voltage
- Battery life extender
- Fixed 100% battery notification after charger unplug
- 377MB RAM
- NO-OP scheduler as default scheduler
- Lulzactive governor as default governor
- tweaked Lulzactive for battery life and smoothness
- added 518, 633 and 902 MHz (new)
- screen off frequency set to 518 MHz max.(new)
- some more voltage tweaks
- no other compilation tweaks just to make the list longer
With this kernel and a new battery my SGW can last up to 7 days in standby. This is without WiFi and Mobile Data. With the stock kernel I got 3-5 days. It´s also working absolutely stable and smooth for me without any issues.
So if you run into some issues that are/were also discussed i the CM9 Bug report thread, don´t blame me for them.
other suggestions:
- enable KSM
- enable 16bit Dithering
- disable CPU rendering
- greenify your apps
If you follow these suggestions, your ROM should run absolutely smooth without the need for other tweaks.
To use Battery Life eXtender:
Use RootExplorer and go to: '/sys/class/misc/batterylifeextender'. Change the value in 'charging_limit' for example to 90 (default 100). This will set a limit for the capacity to which the battery will be charged. So in this example the battery will be charged to 90%.
----------------------------------------------------
After flashing the kernel whipe your cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions.
Just as a note. Should you encounter the white screen bug in some apps, this is because you whiped the cache in CWM Recovery after flashing the kernel. To fix this go into settings -> apps and delete data and cache of those specific apps.
Credits are going to:

- educk (for helping me doing the first steps)
- Christopher83 (for his great commits)
- ivendor (for his tweaks)
- Ezekeel (for Battery Life eXtender)
----------- 18.08.2013 -----------
- added frequencies
- incrased RAM
- lowered screen off frequency in Lulzactive
- some voltage finetunning

nicely done
I have tested this before with rc2 and I have to say battery life was very significantly longer compared to hurtsky 2.5 + QAsR v2.3. However, the white screen issue persisted in 2 of the apps I used the most, namely boat browser and Gmail so I have opted out again. But if you guys don't care about white screen, do give this kernel a try
Yeah, kernel 2.6 is always better battery life... i recomended it
- screen off frequency set to 768 MHz

What mean of that ?
is we get trun off the screen it auto lock on 768Mhz ? it's not deepsleep any way CMIIW

This is the max frequency the clock might rise to if the screen is off but for example an app or a service awakes the phone from deepsleep. So it will not drain so much the battery if the phone gets awake for some reason and if you undervolt your cpu, you can reduce the consumption for such a case even more.
This is preset in the Lulzactive governor, which Christopher83 fixed to make this working, so it´s only related to this governor, which is also my default governor.
So when in screenoff the phone only maximum can use CPU clock at 768Mhz
Yeah i get it. .thx for explain it
I think arco might be able to help you fix the white screen. Long back skull kernel experienced the same and acro helped him to fix it.

Uhm, well I´m not sure this is exactly the same because Keff (Woohooo..) is modding the 3.x kernel for CM10. But thanks for the suggestion. I will aks Keff first to not to bother Arco in the first place. It will be for sure interesting what caused it for him.
Just to clarify some things about the white screen bug. The one I described in my first post is not the real white screen bug, but only what happens to some apps after whiping the cache in CWM Recovery. This can easily be fixed like described above and will not bother you anymore.
The real white screen bug came all of the sudden (without whiping anything before). So for example you opened facebook, everything was fine, but a few minutes later by relaunching facebook you got a white screen. The procedure to get rid of this was the same as I already mentioned but with the difference it happened again after a while.
So well I have had this issue with facebook too in the past, but it´s gone and now even not happening after whiping the cache in CWM Recovery. It´s not gone because I updated the rom (still using RC2), but because facebook updated their app.
Edit:
I already found what you was talking about. It´s called the white noise issue where you get a white screen by turning the screen on, so it´s not the same.

Mind you: This is battery saving rom. It is meant to have low game performance. It MUST have a lower gaming performance than those v3.0 kernels. If you want gaming, this is not for you.

Yes, this is a battery saving kernel, but why should it have low gaming performance? Just because it´s optimized for low consumption in standby and because you can undervolt it? It´s like you were comparing an older Pentium4 against an Intel Atom CPU and saying the Atom must be faster because its newer. Or by comparing a Atom against a 286 CPU and saying the 286 will be faster than the Atom because the Atom is more battery friendly.
Sure, it´s not optimized to get the highest scores in benchmarks, but the games I´m playing once in a while are running totally smooth.
The newer releases of CM9 might be of course faster in games, but not just because of the 3.x kernel, but also because Arcos ocessionaly is updating the GPU drivers.

Thank you for correcting my ignorance. Maybe I'll give the kernel a try and tell more about that
Honeyx, I hope you continue to develop and share this kernel in the future because I decided to start everything over from scratch because of your work here. I love this kernel. I get so much better battery life now. If you would ever consider adding Lionheart in the future, I would be very grateful. Is there any way to add Row or does it require kernel 3? Thanks again!

I may add some tweaks in the future, but this may take a while till I have some spare time to test them. About adding other governors...well I tested a lot of them but finally decided to use Lulzactive because it was the most battery friendly governor in the one hand and because there is also the Lulzactive app you can use to tweak it to your needs. So for example tweak it that way it behaves like for example Lionheart. I also tested the ROW scheduler but it wasn´t as stable as I presupposed to be. So the best compromise between stability and performance was to use the noop scheduler. It´s nearly as fast as the row but way more stable.

LoL. I´m quite sure with extreme undervolting you can still save some battery juice even while playing action games on this device. Beside this it´s not the CPU or GPU that consumes most, but the display and its backlight LED´s.
it is for battery saving but for me its not good to play with games cuz playing for like 40-60 minutes consume 60% battery ? lol
thats quite alot and might burnt up my battery life.

So did you thought it will consume just as much as being in deepsleep????????? The kernel is tweaked to consume less in deepsleep and in daily use but not to consume less in games. Beside this it´s not the CPU nor the GPU that consumes most, but the backlight LEDs in your screen. So even by undervolting and underclocking it will still drain a lot if playing games.
There is no and will not be a magical Kernel that is using witchcraft to reduce the consumption of the LEDs, exept someone compiles you a kernel which turns out the LEDs completely, if you can with a complete dark screen.

Im not expecting anything from ur kernel, im glad that u shared ur kernel taht could last longer than arco's stock kernel.
I was just giving up my comments about ur kernel that i have used for 2 months , Not complaining and whining lol.
I am sorry and thanks for sharing ur kernel , keep it up. :fingers-crossed:
I owned an gs2 b4 and used this mod its great performance booster.
It will work almost any phone and any rom(tested on nexus4 cm11 with similar hardware as zl and gs2 cm11)
ART Compatible (tested on nexus 4 )
It is not tested on xperia zl thats why i m sharing this but most probably it should work.
Plz do the backup before flashing because
I am only sharing this work i dont own this project
So sorry to say but i will not be able to answer any queries
Flash it at your own risk but it should work

Tested on PAC Rom nightlies.
Adaway stops working after that and ads show up in several apps.
Speeds up system ui animations and everything seems to be smoother.
But no impact on benchmark scores.
Also, battery seems to drain faster.
Maybe it has a better effect on stock version..

ACTUALLY THE MOD IS MENT TO DECREASE BATTERY USAGE for me it doesnt drain
Ok tested on cm11 and well... Doesn't make much difference... Few tweaks it enables is decrease the animation speed to .5x in developer options.... And allow plurging of assets in performance
Apart from that it does apply some minfree tweaks but in neither the benchmarks nor in normal usage do I see a change...
So yea I can't say it helps much in cm based roms where we could tweak the performance settings anyway... Maybe good for stock roms
Thanks for the share anyway

no i have been using this in my s2 since a long time until i bought zl it worked fine and benchmark is not boosted to a very high level maximus 200 it depends on the rom and it reduces lagginess

Yup it will but not much..
And to be honest.. Don't go for benchmarks ..
its all done quite easily as these boosters basically set ur cpu to performance mode whenever a fullscreen app runs.... That's it... If you look into it ull see most oems do that as well.. So u always get better benchmarks on stock roms as compared to aosp based roms.

i agree with you actually benchmarks arent that reliable for s2 it showed 200 but for many users its significantly negligibe.actually in the shared link its mentioned to increase benchmark thats why i had written "improve benchmarks"in title.rRemoved it now nomore quarrels about benchmarks!
Flashed the golden edition now and it gives me +480 Antutu points.
The fix for AdAway also works, thanks for that !
System ui responds fast and smooth. Will test it the following days and report back.

Guys the performance boost(If you feel benchmarks only show you the performance) comes from an increase in I/O score. Can anyone check that. I used to use such scripts on my galaxy 3 which atleast to some degree made me think the lag was gone . I don't think our phone needs such scripts. Our phone is already the fastest it can be and it's the fastest any phone can get right now . It can only be improved on by having better android( like an improved kernel?). Our phone has 2 gigs of RAM and do you think we need a minfree scipt for that? lol . That's the reason no one makes "scripts" for top tier phones. And those who feel the performance has been boosted check the CPU score differences in antutu, not the overall score which includes I/O too.

Hello!
I think that this kind of thead would be nice for noobies like me. I know that there are already good rom, kernel, mod and tweak lists but sometimes it can be very difficult to find combo which is perfect for you. This is not a thead for comparing roms, kernels etc. It would be nice if as many as possible posted here how your little SGY had been customized and specially for what kind of use.
Post atleast ROM and KERNEL and USE like this:
My SGY
ROM: Hyperion 8 GM Final
KERNEL: Savie #73 (Governor: OnDemand, I/O scheduler: sio)
TWEAKS: V6 SuperCharger and KAK
USE: I use SGY daily as my current phone so it has to be stable and every basic features must be working. I also wanted as much as possible performance without battery draining. Now my SGY run over 2 days for basic use and one day for heavy use (internet and little gaming). I also wanted bassboost for my audio player. I think that my performance is very good now and I can even play GTA III with only little bit lag (using Chainfire 3d) but the most reason for this combo is stable and fast normal use (no apps forsing down and freezing)

There seems to be awesome traffic in this thead!
Well, I'm going to update my combo anyway:
ROM: Hyperion 9 GM Final
KERNEL: Merruk 2.5 #206 (Freqs: 1248Mhz/312Mhz, Governor: SmartassV2, I/O scheduler: Noop)
TWEAKS: None
USE: Now my little SGY is my second phone and I don't use it very much anymore. When I go to gym I use SGY as mp3 player because my other phone is too big (5''). I also browse internet sometimes. With Hyperion 9 and Merruk 2.5 kernel SGY is amazingly fast and internet browsing is very smooth. Only disadvantage is that battery drops pretty fast. Long live SGY!
yeah... for what?

I just don't get you. Why do you need to spam this thead? If you have not anything to say then leave. No need for that kind of post...
This thead is started because of:

...sometimes it can be very difficult to find combo which is perfect for you. This is not a thead for comparing roms, kernels etc. It would be nice if as many as possible posted here how your little SGY had been customized and specially for what kind of use.

Then everyone can find a good combo for their SGY. Some tweaks and kernels aren't compatible with some roms etc.
Here is mine...
ROM: CyanogenMod 7.2 - BroadcomCM [TOTORO] [RC 4 - 09/03/2014]
KERNEL: CM Specific Basic Kernel - BroadcomCM[TOTORO][v4.0 - 07/3/2014] (Freqs: 832Mhz/312Mhz, Governor: Performance, I/O scheduler: Noop)
TWEAKS: None
USE: My little SGY is my first purchased phone and I use it as mp3 player & for GMAIL. I also play games. My SGY is amazingly fast.
:good: Long live SGY :good:
How about the kernel? What's a good performance kernel? or do I even need one? There's a guy in this forum who has managed to boost his Samsung GT-I8150's fps to 20! now how in the world did he do that? my current fps is max at 6fps(antutu benchmark) with only basic apps installed and most unneeded running apps forced-stop. i know there's so much can be done on this phone since its..ehh..a low specs device bt isnt Android(linux based) is all about reviving the dead? lol

Im running CM10.2 currently. So far, so good, even though theres bugs still present. As far as I know, there aren't any CM10.2 kernel for the W so you're stuck with the stock kernel that comes with the ROM itself. Im thinking that the guy who managed to somehow "boost" his device is probably running GB i mean its rock stable.
I made my SGW by flashing PurePerfomanceX® Tweaks and also uninstalling stupid useless system app like CM updater and LWPs. Also, since there's no other custom kernel for 4.3 (like i mentioned) I tweaked the Interactive governor from the guys at the GNexus forum and switched my I/O scheduler to deadline. Again, its pretty smooth although the only thing that I find irritating is the stutters i find when scrolling some super heavy apps but obv, this aint a Nexus 5 soo bare with the lags. Some additions i did was installing Seeder and LagFix (can be found at GPlayStore)

Woah man thanks alot on recomending the PurePerfomanceX® Tweaks! what a difference it makes lol and do i need to install those seeders&lagfix? im not a gamer so yeah are they really necessary? one other thing, how do i get the SmartassV2 governor? doesnt pureperformancex script includes that aswell? and finally(i promise! lol) do any of these tweaks help in conserving battery? prior to this, the battery was draining like mad it could be the condition of battery since ive had this phone for almost 2years now. before i go out and get new battery maybe if there was a tweak that could help reviving this old fella would be super. buying new phone is out of the question for the time being since i lost my samsung note3 2weeks ago..sigh sad life.
anyway thanks alot brother for the kind help
