Didn't see a similar topic sorry if there's one like this already. Those of you who use Cleanrom, can you recommend similar ROMs that focus on stability and speed? Scott said he's stop developing and I was looking at Liquidsmooth. Any suggestions?

Seriously...
Enjoy Scott's builds...
Just because he "stopped" development for the MC3 builds doesn't make them bad...
His roms are excellent...and until an official 4.2.2 or higher build is released for this device...you are not going to find better TW builds anyway...g
Agreed. Scott's ROMs are as solid as they come, but if you absolutely have to flash something and you want TouchWiz, there's Jedi and Skynote.

I was holding out for cleanrom 5 on my recent warranty replacement, but decided to try skynote. I'm only on day 2, but so far it's performed equally well, although it is a bit more bloated.
I was also actually impressed with that stock Portuguese(?) rom that Scott posted recently. If I change my mind about skynote, I might just go back to that, and try to de-bloat it manually the best I can.
I recommend posting this in the Q&A section since it will probably get moved there anyway lol
I used both Clean ROM and Skynote, both are excellent but I love Liquid!!
I actually recommend this thread be closed.

Thread moved to the Q and A Thread, as that is where questions should go.
Thread also closed, as Best Rom threads are not allowed. Users must try and test roms on their own to determine what is "best" for them.

I am currently running wanam's 1.1 version of his stock-based ROM. Been running it for 2 days and has felt much smoother and battery friendly than stock! ATT and Samsung apps are flashable later through CWM which like. LOVE this ROM. Only known issue that I have seen is the 1080p recording for the camera. It does record in 720p though. Thanks!

I ran CM !0 for a few days but I used a Mac and MTP doesn't work so its a bit of a deal breaker for me, but in all fairness its Extremely stable to be an Alpha build. My first android phone was the G1 and then on to the Nexus One so i'm a sucker for AOSP based android roms and for Cyanogen Mod in general so ill be running it when the MTP gets sorted out on my Mac.
I tried Wanams rom, I remember him from my SGS2, Hes a great Dev & its really stable as well.
The best all around so far for me is AndroidUser00110001's Rom linked below. I've found the wifi disconnect problem that i was having with the other TW Roms is gone and it has had the best over all balance of performance and stability.

When it comes to battery life there literally is none better, he did a fantastic job with his ROM. It takes a performance hit at times but its to be expected.
Overall, AOKP has everything I want, sans killer battery life

I have looked at it, and the one I have installed on my phone even has the Aurora designation I intend to use if I publicly release a rom for this phone, so we will see.
Also, son of a *****, godaddy didn't auto-renew my domain. Guess I will need a new one.

Definitely AOKP. Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean versions are awesome. I've yet to find any bugs that keep it from being a daily driver. In fact I've found none. But I haven't used it that in depth much, we shall see.
But I put my vote in for AOKP. By far the best, and I only flash for AOSP based ROMs anyways. :good:

I just received my S3 a few days ago and have just now been following threads to scope the scene. I am aware that I can create a backup and play around with the ROM's myself, and I will do that actually. Before I do this I would like YOUR opinion on the top ROM and why. What I (personally) look for in a ROM is: stability, good battery time, performance/benchmarks, features, look & feel and more. Thank you very much and have a happy new year!
tldr; What is the best (US) Galaxy S 3 ROM based on stability, battery time, performance, features and look/feel.
That's a tough question as everyone has personal opinions of different Roms and each device will also handle each ROM different in my opinion this will only turn into a this ROM is better than that ROM thread and that is not good

It depends on what you are looking for from a ROM.
If you want stable stay with stock TW
If you want latest and greatest chose AOSP/AOPK Rom.
Both are now on 4.2 which is much smoother and faster than TW.
No bloatware of course. Better battery life with custom kernels etc...
CM 10.1 is great
Tasks AOPK is better IMHO at the moment. CM is updated nightly which is a plus it minus... Task updates his ROM less frequently but it's a lot more stable at the moment...
Which ever ROM you choose if not stock READ entire OP make sure you follow it to the T and then read all posts as they tell you all about bugs and workarounds
Good luck

I always follow the instructions to a T, I want the best experience possible out of anything I flash ever. You mentioned better battery life with the Kernels, any experience with ktoonsez's or Task's kernel? Could you give me some estimate figures (example: 5 hours battery on stock, 8 on ktoonsez)
Running Illusion (CM based Rom) with the latest KT747 and no issues here, so I disagree with the guy above. I prefer stock android which is why I like roms like Task's AOKP and CM10.1 the most. It all comes down to preference.
Running Tasks AOKP 4.1.2. With lean kernel. Never crashes never any problems. Most stable custom ROM I've ever used. 4 hours screen on time, best battery I've ever gotten.
Just waiting for some updates on 4.2 then I will upgrade.

Thanks, orig dev I think was the only one I didn't click on.. Time is limited taking care of a 6month old..
This just ends up being a popularity thread.
I'm a huge AOKP/CM10 fan, but right now those ROM's don't have the one thing I need (USB-DAC) so I'm stuck with TouchWiz based ROM's.
I flashed Ultimatum ROM last week and have yet to have a single issue with it.
It's mostly stock with minor tweaks, so it SHOULD be a reliable ROM.
I then flashed a 23toggle mod with blue icons, so I at least have a good looking ROM also.
I find myself always restoring a debloated version of DG's m7 stock based rom with tasks kernel. I use rom toolbox as well to help tweak certain battery consuming apps. I usually lose 3-5% overnight on standby(7 hrs if I'm lucky and my kids let me). I think juice deffender helps me as well. Performance is pretty good but I'm a battery dork. The thread is probably back a couple pages now if you want to look at it. All of these dev's make great roms though. Try them all. Its called flashaholic and i'm a member.

I had the same question, but about the newer 4.2.1 roms. I want to upgrade, but i'm not sure which one will work best for me. Seems like Task and KTz joint is the most popular right now, but CM10 has been my daily. AS far as TW, I keep going back to Bacon Step with KTZ kernal becasue i use bluetooth alot and its my last TW backup. I want 4.2, but i need bluetooth to listen to my podcasts. What 4.2 rom has working bluetooth audio?
What are you guys favorite TouchWiz-based ROM?

"Glitch Free" is a relative term. All 4.2.x Roms have some glitches, but there are many glitches that I overlook because they don't affect me.
That being said, the best way to find out which Rom you want to use is to try them out! The three that I always cycle through are:
LiquidSmooth (this is my base, I flash others to compare it to this)
Slim Bean
Carbon Rom
Now there are other ones that people have said good things about, including (but not limited to):
Deviant Xone
PAC Rom
Hope this helps, even though I basically just replicated the front page of the Original Android Sub-forum.

Hello I've been using touchwiz based roms and feel like using a more vanilla based ROM and was wondering what's the best build and that is glitch free. I'd greatly appreciate your commentary

You can't really have a "best" ROM. The effectiveness of a ROM depends on the user. Every user has different needs. If you're looking for the most stable ROM out there, your best bet is staying on stock touchwiz. If you're looking to try out AOSP, you'll have to flash a couple of ROMs. I run Slim Bean build 3. The newest build is on Linux 3.4 and I have found bad battery life. Build 3 was released only a couple weeks ago. Using dkp kernel and Slim build 3, I have found these to be my "best" setup. I am finding very little bugs and I have great battery life and performance. You'll have to flash a few ROMs and kernels before you find out what works best for you. Have fun flashing! Good luck mate

If you're asking for a "best" ANYTHING, you should think twice before posting. As said, this is all relative. It depends on your usage, your definition of "stability", and what you consider to make something "good".
When I say the "best" I mean exactly what I said. What is the best to you and there are many ROMs that are very stable. But what's the most stable version of that ROM.

To seek the impossible dream, to reach for the unreachable star,..... Your asking a question that only you can answer for yourself. If you search you will see this has been asked 100ds of times in these forums and most of these threads get locked.
