[Q] headphones keep getting messed up, jack issue? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've had this phone for about a year now, and it seems every 4 months my headphones lose audio in one ear.
The first time it happened it was the ear buds (w/ mic) that came with the phone, so I thought they probably weren't that great to begin with and bought a new pair with the mic attached. Worked for few months and then same thing happened, I wouldn't get sound out of one ear. So then I started using a pair of headphones with no microphone attached to it and yesterday I started hearing the audio start to go in and out of one of the ears. So I know the inevitable is about to happen.
The headphones with the mic, I'd lose the audio on the side the microphone would be on as well, and on the other one I'm losing it on the right side. I'm assuming this is a jack problem, is there anyway to fix it because I really don't want to have to go out and buy new headphones every few months.
I've tried searching for help but all I keep seeing are people saying they wouldn't get audio once plugged in and not that they keep losing it over time and with different headphones like I'm experiencing.
Thanks for any help offered.

[Q] DHD phone calls alone and launches voicesearch when headphones are plugged in.

Hey, i have a problem with the jack plug. of My DHD when using Headphones.
I went to the beach last week and i think some sand went in the jack plug. (even though i was carefull)
I can't plug headphones whithout seeing the phone make calls and launch voice search, every 5 seconds. Really Annoying as i can't listen to music anymore.
I tried cleaning the plug but nothing had changed.
My theory is that the phone thinks i'm pressing the call button of a handsfree set.
I'm thinking of buying a blutooth audio receiver.
Or, if there was a way to disable handsfree controls, i think this would do it, but it doesn't seem possible yet.
Has anyone Got a clue ?
Thx
Does this happen with every set of headphones, or just the HTC set provided?
Hey, i've tried with several sets of headphones and it does the same thing with each of them.
I'm thinkink about sending back it to htc.
Yet, as it's rooted, i'm not so sure they'll repair it for free :/
Do you think i should i revert it to stock before sending it?
Thnx
I've heard about this problem before in a different forum.
The ppl there found out that it has to do with the lenght of the plug. (some are slightly longer than others and they cause the problem)
According to the guys on the other forum, it shouldnt happen with the stock headphones though.

I use three different set of head phones. It doesn't happen with skullcandy or ipod in ear ones with me. (Does with sennhieser hd280)
I am pretty sure it's a jack related issue.

HTC earphones stops working after using them for a while!

My HTC earphones won't output audio to my left plug.
This is the third pair I've gone through as all the previous earphones had the same fault. And it's always the left plug that stops working.
Are the HTC branded earphones really that bad?! I'm going to buy myself some quality earphones than wait once again a week to get another pair of soon to be faulty earphones.
Has this happened to someone else?
I would be inclined to think that this is connector problem, not the ear plugs. I have used the original plugs for just over a year with no problems whatsoever.

Just tested a bunch of other earphones, all of them work.
Something is wrong with the plugs because they work sometimes if held in a special way. My father pointed out that it could be a fault that occurs while the phone is in the pocket. However I never put my phone in my pocket while listening to music.

I don't think it will be the phones, try some pure alcohol or similar cleaning fluid on earbud jack and phone socket
Interesting, I had the exact same thing. I just ordered a new pair off amazon about 3 weeks ago. They were working perfect one day then the next time I went to use them the left one didn't make the slightest sound at all

[Q] Headphone jack vs speaker sound output issue

Hello One community,
I just purchased the One a week ago and finally had a chance to use the stock HTC headphones that came in the box. When I receive a call or get notifications, the sound comes through the head phone jack as well as the phone speakers. Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried different settings and nothing seems to work. Is this the default behavior of the sound?
Probably meant to be like that. I know that in the past I've been listening to music and then when I was done I just set my phone down without taking the headphones out of the jack. They probably did it for that type of situation. I mean I'm not 100% sure but that seems logical.

pretty sure that is normal. Same thing happens when connected to a bluetooth headset.
Ok...thanks. guess I will just deal with it. My previous HTC Incredible 2, Incredible 4G , HTC DNA and Moto Razr HD didn't allow any sounds to come from the phone speaker when the head set is plugged in. That is why I still found it odd. It's kind of annoying. I use the headset to quiet the phone notifications when I'm in a public area. But since the sounds still come from the phone speakers, I have to mute the output, which defeats the purpose.

Headphone noise problems

I have the Note 2 and when I plug in headphones (any) and play music, it's static. You can tell what song is playing but it is pretty much worth someone humming it instead of singing it. This had started to occur recently. When I factory reset the phone, I tried it and it worked but then today i tried it and it's back to static. I'm debating on whether I should get the headphone slot replaced.
Note: the headphones work fine with any other device and I've tried it worth multiple headphones just in case you were wondering.
Any help would be appreciated.

Tablet sound is bad when using ear phones with the headphone jack:(

Hello there everyone i have had my Sammy Galaxy Tab 3 SM-T210R for 2-3 years now and there seems to be a major problem with it.
Every time i want to listen to my music with my ear phones or headphones with them plugged into the headphone jack the sound is perfect for a little bit but then you can hear the audio crackle every now or then. It also lags quite badly sometimes too. Another problem is that it decides to stop playing my music randomly whenever it wants too. I use the Stock Sammy Music app btw. The volume also turns down on it's own for no reason. These are issues im experiencing and a reboot won't fix it. I returned the tab to stock unrooted firmware but it still has the same problems. Could there be a problem with the headphone jack? Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you
This is a very simple part to replace. Remove the rear cover, 2 screws from this jack, then install the new one. Take less than 5 minutes
