Galaxy S3 want charge and battery cuts off at 15% - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

This has happened before 2 months ago and I posted a thread but nobody could help. My phone will get to about 15% and then cut off. When I try charging it, it will say its charging but the battery will just drop. I know its the phone itself because I've used 2 different chargers and 4 different batteries yet the problem continues. Yesterday it cut off on me and I couldn't get it to come on no matter what I tried. I am rooted running a stock ROM but I feel like this a hardware problem rather than software problem.

Right now its at 4% for like 5 mins while charging.

If Odining stock (+factory reset) won't fix it, and another battery won't fix it, not sure what we can do for you?

Factory reset will delete everything want it?

Do I factory reset, go into download mode and then flash the off of Odin?

You need to be using CWM or TWRP to do this. And make sure it's up to date. 6.0.3.1 and 2.6.0.0 respectively. Also, ensure that your device is a SGH-T999 by removing the battery and checking the sticker. If it's not, you're about to brick your phone.
Make a nandroid.
Factory reset.
Wipe system.
Wipe dalvik cache (wipe cache also if factory reset didn't do this)..
Flash ROM (I like Dandroid, but if you're used to stock, S3Rx will work for you).
Flash LJC firmware from the firmware link in my sig (mnasledov). It's a recovery flashable Odin package, basically (without /system). It won't overwrite anything you've done to this point. Yes, we're using an MD5-based ROM with LJC firmware.
Reboot.
If it's still happening, you can install BetterBatteryStats and post a log for analysis.

exactly what steps are you taking in recovery to do this? are you coming from stock? i would odin back to stock firmware and have a go at synergy again. there are rooted stock firmware downloads in android development section. after installation/root/custom recovery:
Boot into custom recovery
Select Wipe data/factory reset
Select Wipe Cache
Select Advanced and Wipe Dalvik Cache
Select Mounts and Storage and format /system
Go back out to the main recovery screen and choose the "install .zip from SD Card"
Once the phone is booted, let it sit for 10 minutes, reboot again
I wasn't doing the mount/format step and will it giveme the last option to reboot or will I need to remove the battery?

Also something I was unsure of, after the the rom install when it takes you to the disable recovery on start up??

1) wipe data factory reset
2) wipe cache
3) wipe dalvick
4) install rom with clockwork and reboot.
I was running Cyanogen 10 ROM before attempting to flash.
Can someone help?

What state is your phone in right now ?
I assume you can get into recovery mode ? Have you trie dto flahs any other ROM's ?
I just waited 50 mins with the black screen, then I pull the battery turn it on and still the black screen. Then I pull the battery restart into recovery and put cyanogen10 back on. I don't understand why this ROM is different than any other one I have flashed

Going from custom ROM custom to a stock type ROM (Synergy) can create issues. Synergy while a good ROM is a bit buggy at times. Honestly if you want to flash it again I would flash a rooted stoc 4.1.1 ROM and then flash synergy.
It's just a well known issue with going from different type ROM's. Also I prefer to do a full/super wipe if I decide to go to a ported ROM or back from AOKP or something like that

as hednik and i have both stated now, you need to revert to stock before flashing a touchwiz-based rom. the direction you want to go with your device (touchwiz) is a little more complicated than going the aosp-based/source route. be patient, start over from stock, and you'll get there. i would also have a seperate touchwiz custom rom downloaded that you're interested in. in the event your device has nothing but problems with synergy, you could wipe data and flash the different rom to see if it would take instead.

My GS3 is really having problems.

I took my stock GSIII and rooted and installed hyperdrive, but texting was really awful, and battery was bad so I proceeded to reinstall. Didn't work. So I flashed one of the rooted stock firmwares from the root no tripping flash counter thread. Now its worse. i cant get in to the app drawer it always just says that android.core or something like that has stopped and proceeds to kick me out. At this point I am done and just want to have rooted stock then use triangle away and then flash pure stock and end up with a good warranty, pure stock phone, any help?
Did you wipe your cache/data factory reset every time you flashed?

Yeah...
repeat the process: wipe data and cache in recovery then boot into download mode. flash the correct stock firmware via odin with "auto reboot" unchecked. when you get a "pass", pull the battery. reinsert the battery and immediately press the recovery button combo. once in, wipe data and cache again. reboot. report back.

Email app weird error

Hey guys, so I have a weird issue I've never had before. When flashing new ROMs, the email app force closes, when trying to fix permissions on recovery, it fails with an error message that says "failed to chmod com.android.email". I delete the app, and the data in the data/data folder, and then permissions are fixed successfully. This happens on any ROM that I flash, I've tried reverting to stock but the issue persists. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ok, I've tried it before, but not sure if I wiped data before doing so. I tend to use mobile Odin because I'm not near a computer all the time, can one wipe data when flashing with mobile Odin?

Yep, it's under the Wipe area. But I would drop to recovery for a factory reset. I'm not sure what the "factory reset" in wipe data/factory reset implies, if anything.

I need at&t so im wondering, is it possible to swap the inside of the white and put in the black? Im hoping someone knows so I can find someone to do it.
My guess would be yes you could do that. For the heat problem though, if you are using stock build UVDMD5, either try Odin flashing the LJC firmware, or.Just flash the LJC modem.

WELL WHEN IT WAS STOCK IT GOT HOT. NOW IM ON WICKED V10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804260 AND IT STILL GETS HOT..I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT LJC OR UVDMD5 IS.
It's the build number. Refers to the firmware. Check what baseband it says you're on. If it's the UVDMD5 one, go to the modem thread and flash a different one and see if it helps

Ok, I'd suggest making a nandroid then factory reset and test. If it stops heating up.then there may be some old or corrupted data causing a process to hang. If it still happens you can restore the nandroid and try a different kernel. Otherwise see if there are any other reports of the same thing in the Rom thread.

[Q] flashing a rom without bricking?

I cant flash a rom and have it work. I have tried several ROMS like aokp, jedi, smooth, jellybeans, etc and they almost always brick. Jedi worked but google services crashed back to back to back to the point where i couldnt even use the phone. does anyone know of a 4.3 rom that works on att sgh-i317?? i basically went down the list on galaxynote2root.com and tried them all but no success.
I have root, have TWRP installed and flash the rom and it bricks. i factory reset first, then install and nothing.
any ideas?

I did these exact steps:
Rooted phone and installed TWRP recovery
put AOKP Rom on SD card and booted into recovery mode
Wiped/Factory reset through recovery
rebooted into recovery
installed AOKP ROM
booted and bricked- hangs at "X" aokp bootup screen

Download your rom and gapps again using a PC...
Then place the files to your SD using a card adapter if no USB connection is possible...
Then fully wipe the device again from within the latest version of TWRP recovery and flash the new downloads ...
You may have a bad flash ...and you are not bricked...g

I did those exact steps and it did not work. i tried flashing pac man rom the last time and it got stuck in a boot loop too. I think there are some files that are corrupt or some temp files somewhere that are preventing a successful flash. my binary flash count was 9. and that was just on this run, ive tried flashing several times before. each time the only way to recover it is hooking the phone up to a pc and using kies to flash back to stock firmware. this sucks.
What version of twrp are you using? I have never had this issue you are having and I have flashed every rom on this forum for our device.

Uh....yeh...not right ...
Have you messed with device partitions in ODIN ??
If so...something is definitely wrong ...
At this point ...you may want to consider a full return to stock and allow the PIT to properly restore your partitions..
Just follow the return to stock guide (sticky )...in the general section ..
Once restored to stock with a corrected flash counter you can begin again using CF auto root as your root method..
It sounds as if you have root issues and possible partition damage...
One other step you can try first is to boot into download mode and re-root using CF...
That may help....but certainly won't hurt anything...then attempt a clean flash again..
If it fails ...then the return to stock and rooting again seems prudent ...g

Go to wipe menu and then advanced wipe and select dalvik, cache, data, system and internal(optional). I do it three times to make sure. then flash your rom with gapps (if aosp)
