Do you have stock or custom recovery? Do you have a backup that you can restore from recovery mode?

If you have a custom recovery you can load a rom directly to you sd card and then flash it to your phone from your recovery. If not you will have to get a rom that can be flashed in download mode via odin.
S3 with Wicked Sensations

If you have a Sprint GS3.
You can go to Download Mode and use this.
Its rooted and No Data. no Data will be lost.

Just flash d stock rom of ur country thru download mode
HiT ThE ThnX BuTTon If I Help U
What he said, get into Download mode, flash it with a stock .tar through Odin. Then reset all settings through CWM(dalvik, wipe cache, data/factory reset).
Why not just boot into recovery and wipe and flash a rom he wants?

Also, I tried both a custom ROM and a stock ROM in Heimdall and got error messages.
STOCK ROM: firmware.xml is missing from the package
CUSTOM ROM: tar header contained an invalid file size.
Please help me, thank you so much in advance.

And it might not work to flash a custom or stock ROM without clearing the cache/dalvik cache 1st. At least that's what happened to me. What I eventually found to work was to flash the stock recovery and boot into that (same procedure as booting into CWM). You will be able to clear cache from here and then flash stock ROM.

You do this by downloading the stock recovery and flashing it through ODIN/Download mode.

Unfortunately I have a mac, and I get error messages trying to load up the packages in Heimdall.
STOCK ROM: firmware.xml is missing from the package
CUSTOM ROM: tar header contained an invalid file size.
Any idea how this is solved? Thank you so much for your attempt, friend!

Hmmm... Not familiar with the Mac situation. You have a friend/place you can go to use a PC?
You will not be able to do this on a MAC. You will need a PC. ODIN does not run in MAC.
PM Me is you need help and have access to a PC. I pulled mine out of a reboot loop yesterday and it was pretty simple. You just need a quality TAR file and ODIN. Then run a reset on all.

Go to a public library, university, hotel business lounge. Be resourceful, as you can definitely find a PC close at hand.

I have lost my recovery!

After all the problems i had with my Wifi using ics (arco) i decided to downgrade to stock rom but with the new baseband hoping to solve the prblm. I downgraded according to "the-e"'s guide using ODIN but, i didnt flash stock recovery because i thought i would still have CWM recovery.
Now that i want to root, the "Box" comes up when i reboot but it just restarts and doesnt enter recovery mode~ i have no recovery. I tried using ODIN again, but it cant find my phone, it says "please connect phones". Even kies says my phone is incompatible!!?
What do i do?

When using odin you have to put your phone into download mode and then plug it into the pc while opening odin. Do you did that?

If not mistaken, we will lost CWM and it may go back to stock recovery if we flash a stock ROM, by the way did you manage to enter into stock recovery?
If yea just download the Zip-file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317394 to get root
Some guides related to CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867870 & http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924846

A fresh flash from a stock ROM may be the only solution for now. Have you try that yet?

Hello Matthew, I have a Singapore GT-N7105 too! *High-five* as the previous post said, you can only flash stock ROM to save you.
1) download this file. It's gonna take a long time. http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=12428
2) flash that file through ODIN.
3) reboot.
Should work.

its very hard to brick gio, i know smh about it just put another rom on sdcard if you can go in recovery mode
Once u enter download mode, u can not access recovery. It's a fact bro!!
The screen above appears when u try to switch on the phone after having accessed download mode(without flashing any firmware):sly:.
Since u can access download mode indicates that ur device is NOT HARD BRICKED...the only solution to this problem is : Download & flash the official samsung firmware for ur device via Odin. & wipe data/cache thereafter.
If I try to flash a rom odin just crashes.
Try another firmware for GIO...preferably of ur country. from www.samfirmware.com
Thanks, I got this phone running again
Well...congrats then!!
