Full wipe means:
data/factory reset
cache wipe
dalvik cache wipe
wipe system in mounts and storage
wipe cache in mounts and storage
Wiping system is very important as a flash is usually an update to a different and improved system version! ( for instance from KKA to LA4).
When getting into a bootloop pull the battery, reinsert battery and go in recovery mode and wipe data/factory reset and cache and reboot, done

Why would you format or "Wipe" the Cache partition 3 times? Just curious...

dalvik cache error

Hi all, I'm new to android and just receive my HTC One X and have ARHD custom rom installed. I read somewhere stating that when flashing roms, I have to clear cache and dalvik cache. But when I did so, I received this error.
dalvik cache e:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Read somewhere that this is normal, is it? just want to confirm.
Also hope some of the veterans here can assist, when installing a kernel/ rom/ radio what do I have to do? I've read this post and am unsure if this is correct.
Rule of thumb for flashing and wiping - in recovery mode
flashing a rom - wipe data, cache partition, dalvik cache, format /system
flashing a kernel or a theme - wipe cache partition, dalvik cache, format /system
flashing a radio - wipe cache and dalvik and format system

my ROM is clearing dalvik-cache during the installation process. No need to do it manually.

problem with Xperia Z [CM 10.1]

hellooooo.
i've got some issues.
I did every point(without dalvik cache) in instruction, I mean:
1. wipe data
2. wipe cache
3. install zip from sd-card
4. wait untill flash
5. wipe data again
6. wipe cache again
7. wipe dalvik cache
8. Hit reboot and enjoy

then I flashed gapps light for 10.1... and I haven't Google Play Store, why? ((
(sorry for my bad english xd)
edit:
if I wipe my dalvik cache and then I would like to restore my previous rom (backed up 1week ago)... would be everything okay? without bugs?
i'm asking about it, because I dont know what is 'wipe dalvik cache' xd
Try this method.
1. Boot into recovery
2. Wipe data
3. Wipe cache
4. Install zip from sd-card and wait till it flashes
5. Wipe data again
6. Wipe cache again
7. Install gapps from sd-card
8. Wipe cache after flash
9. Wipe dalvik cache now
10. Hit reboot and enjoy

[Q] Install official rom by odin

Hello my friends
I have a big problem with my sm-p601
when i reset factory by system or TWRP or wipe cache i get booting problem

wipe cache/dalvik cache is itself problem!
when i get this problem must install official kitkat rom by odin and then boot problem solved.
so i want to wipe whole storage and system then install rom by odin for having a new tablet!
in TWRP wipe menu have this :
cache
dalvik cache
system
data
internal storage
should i tik all of this and wipe then install by odin?
Is there any problem to delete whole data and system then install official 4.4.2 rom?
Just clean internal storage

You only need to clear internal storage, cache, dalvik, system and data wiill be erasered by the official image, but there is no problem to do this full wipe.
