I am pretty sure that T-Mobile gives wifi calling to all customers as long as your device supports it.
I have the Samsung Note 2 and really miss the Wi-Fi calling since I have been flashing different Rom's. I have terrible service at home so it is really convenient to have the Wi-Fi calling.
There are now two versions of MIUI for the Samsung T-Mobile Note 2 both of which have not supported Wi-Fi calling.
Does anyone know a work around to get Wi-Fi calling working on MIUI?
All phones can pretty much support wifi calling however not all software can support it. Aosp and miui do not support wifi calling. Devs have been working on getting Wifi calling to work on aosp/miui roms. Some older phones like the mytouch 4g got wifi calling working for aosp roms. Best bet would be to download custom rom based off touch wiz and apply a theme and custom launcher and in your case it would be mi home launcher.

Good advice. I just always live miui ROMs. They are snappier and have great features. I guess I have to weigh those things over having WiFi calling. Thanks

Just sign up for Google voice. No issues on wifi here so far. I was using it on Jedi x15 .

I was thinking about Google voice but wouldn't that only work for outgoing calls? Incoming calls wouldn't know to dial my Google voice number when on WiFi. Unless there some other app that does that too?

This was great advice. I found a stock Rom that was odexed in the forums and I still have root access. I didn't realize that I could have root access without a custom ROM. The stock Rom has really good features and is very snappy. Also, I didn't know that I could have the MIUI theme on top of the stock touchwiz ROM. I'm using mihome with the superman theme. So happy with my phone now. Everything works right and it looks great.
Any ideas on getting a transparent notification bar?

Wait... What? Google Voice can be used as a wifi calling tool? Ive been on FrostyJB 8 and while I like the rom, I'd rather have another rom but due to worki must have wifi calling. I've always been told you have to use a crapplication like GroovIP... more on this please! This could have just changed my life lol

It was very laggy and it wouldn't answer half of the calls on four different wifi networks... refunded that one. My business is too important to miss calls because of third party software failures.
Never had that issue in Afghanstain I did but thats because Sat Internet has a latency of the 800ms so anything is going to have an issue carrier or not carrier. Spent time in Germany also and used it for two weeks and never once had a hiccup

Im not to lazy to search. I have and havent had good luck.
I have used a couple of different custom roms without luck of having a hacked native wifi tether option. From what I have read 3rd party tether programs dont work with jellybean.
Can anyone point me to a thread that will shed some light on what Im doing wrong?
Im not a noob to android or rooting, flashing, etc just need some general guidance to help me out.

I can't guarantee but check out aokp jb rom. There's may be working but the jb builds are relatively new. Go to www.aokp.co.

Well i just came from the s2 and I'm not sure if the problems and fixes are the same but on a custom Rom, have you tried using the native tether and changing user agents or a different browser like Firefox.
Wifi tether for root users beta 3.2 works fine too.
Btw i was tethering last night using native. No problems so far.
I'm on aokp jb
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Wifi tethering wont work on jb touchwiz roms. If you upgraded to the unlimited 4g you lose hotspot with stock jb roms. It may work with aokp or cm roms.
I had the same issue and downgraded back to an ICS rom so the wifi tethering app will work again

Thanks for the input. I like touchwiz reminds me of htc sense a lot.
I will just stay on ics now instead of taking any leaked updates.
Is there a way to hack the native hotspot on the leaked jb tw roms to bypass the data plan check? I know when I was on sprint that hacking the native tether app was done with several roms.
I don't tether for everyday use at home but it is nice to have when in the car for my wife and kids who have tablets or other internet devices.
I would get a tether plan but I use to much data to do that and would incur extra charges.

So the title says it all!
This is aimed at us GS3 owners who are fortunate enough to be running Jelly Bean thanks to Freeza...Well one of the down sides of the LJ7 JB update is that WiFi Tether no longer works for us! What a shame!!
Well I may just have a solution that will make you and your phone very very happy.
Follow the steps below:
1) Download WiFi Tether app from Play Store
2) Open app, and hit Menu, then tap Settings
3) There should be an option in Settings to configure your device with the app, in that option change Galaxy SIII to Galaxy Nexus! This worked for me and I am now enjoying the pro's of LJ7 JB while tethering like a boss! haha
If this worked, please hit that thanks button, it helps me greatly
which app? theres tons........ and is this for rooted or non rooted??

Did you save? It should work, Its been working for me.
I am trying this but I can not make it work. The app says that it is working but nothing can see the SSID or connect.
I tried both of the nexus options and it's a no go.
Doesn't work
I'm just going to assume this method does not work. Sprint blocked the tethering in purpose, it doesn't work on jelly bean for the moment, unless you can show proof?

Nope.
Fail
Doesn't work.
Btw, anyone looking for working tether on a ROM, as far as i know, all AOSP ROMs have it working, it's the TW ROMs that are having problems.

So this whole wifi tether issue. It seems fixable at some point and time. I had the hotspot working for like 2 days but never paid anything extra for it. It no longer works so I guess sprint is paying attention to something. LOL. I love the Jellybean though.
Tried it already...no go
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Already tried them all. None work on JB...don't waste your time.
Does anybody know if it's possible to do USB tethering on Jelly Bean?
USB tethering works fine for me, using the 'easytether lite' app. Let's hope the wifi team solves the JB issue soon.

The jelly bean update removes Internet Calling Capabilities from the Galaxy S 3.
Me as a small business owner where I am the only person I depend on this feature to be able to receive calls all the time. As am sure others of you as well, are to dependent on this feature. I'm in talks with ATT now about revising this because I have a little bit of pull with some higher ups but I know if they don't receive more complaints about this from the community and users of the Galaxy S3 ATT will never fix this issue.
So I beg of you who do need and want this feature please call ATT and start complaining. Otherwise ATT is going to keep taking these types of features from us to force us into either there or other companies pocket books to get the needed features that we are supposed to have already!!!!
What client are you using? I can use Groove Ip just fine on cm10 which is jellybean based.
It's still on the bell jelly bean update.

Jellybean like ics should have voip capabilities built into the operating system so no external app is needed and i prefer to keep it that way i dont want the lame sip apps from the app store none work like i want or need them to internet calling is in the call settings area of the phone application of the device and att took it out where sprint still has this feature

You may want to use a different app for voip that app uses 3 to 4 times the amount of bandwidth then a regular voip call thats insane

It may just be disabled by att when they made their changes. If anyone wants to upload secphone.apk, seccontacts.apk, framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk and sysui.apk and the text files customer.XML and features.XML from the CSC folder I'll take a look at them.

Looks like this is specific to AT&T. I have internet calling available to me on the Rogers firmware.
not updating thill this is resolved i need internet calling.. and 3rd party apps and not near as good as built in.
Any news on this?

I also noticed this.. it was very convenient having direct access to it for sip calls.. there are external clients out there, but it was seamless in ics...
This clearly is a tactic to force you to not offload calls...

What's the pros of using an app already embedded in the OS rather than Google voice or something similar?
I barely use internet calling on my phone but I do often on pc w google.
I agree AT&T shouldn't have removed it w the jb update though.

Why do some custom ROMs have it functioning and some don't? Is there a setting or mod that the end user can edit/flash to enable it if the ROM they're running doesn't support it?
Speaking specifically about 'MD5 TW ROMs that have WiFi calling and when WiFi calling is being used.

I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 which supports wifi calling and am looking to flash a ROM onto it to use newer apps like Periscope, but I NEED wifi calling to work.
Anyone know of a really stable ROM that 100% supports wifi calling? Thanks.
As far as I am aware (and I could be incorrect) but only stock does wifi calling. Apps like hangouts can though.

but you can still do wifi calling? like can i make calls to someone like normal using wifi calling? not using dedicated apps.
