Made a trip from NAS to Mayport and got terrible 3G coverage most of the way over and back. Was in downtown Jax yesterday and got same old crappy Sprint signal. Back in Orange Park now and 4G is okay but nothing close to what my old EVO 3D is getting on WiMax. Go figure...
I keep telling myself it can only get better, but now I'm doubting that.

I've been getting 1X all over the place in FL

I know sprint has been upgrading their towers. Here in Florida some were down for a couple of days. They promised 4g here and never got it.

Coverage in Virginia and near

We had a bad storm here in Virginia Friday, ever since service has been very spotty sometimes will have data sometimes i won't and if I'm real lucky nothing at all but when i do have data these are my speeds

I'm in Northern VA and it's been about the same here. But still a lot of places without power. Give it a day or 2 it should be better.

Yea I know, in my town on one side there is power and the other there isn't. that's what I thought the loss of signal was coming from the power outages in the surrounding areas but from reading in the spring community forums sprint employees are saying it's because of them updating equipment

Every sprint user in the DMV AREA is having horrible signal! I used to have good 4G at my buddy's house but not after that storm hit! So give it like a week some places in DC still having outages

Many places have horrible coverage. Though my signal from the Samsung is much weaker than my Palm Pre. Does other find that the signal strength sucks with the Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G's?

My signal came back earlier this week stronger than ever. It is almost like sprint told the repair people to complete the network vision upgrade for my area while up there.

Ya depending where you are there isn't even T-Mobile service up there. If there is it's only the slowest edge version. Your in vzw territory.

I second this. You must be in Verizon land. I was up in Tocoa not too long ago and had to fight to get a signal. You can see from my sig that I get decent speeds. That was an old test I did with my HD2 about a year ago. I get MUCH faster speeds now with my SGS2.
Yup all gsm coverage ends at 400/60 at the shell station. Beyond that the only place you will catch a stray signal is at the top of blood mountain on hwy 129. Anyway from dilangoga "sp" is all vzw. You lose a signal again if your on vzw going out of town and.then pick it up again for a few when u get into suches. Then lose it until you get into the most corrupt police town in the US Blairsvile.

Sprint LTE speedtest

Yes i know its only fast because hardly anyone is using it other than Evo lte and Gnex owners, but still its nice to finally get some decent data speeds... wats funny is that our U-verse at home is one third as fast as this...

I hate you lol hows the connection strength? Like does it disconnect alot?
How does lte work? Is it like wimax, based off of a wifi sort of function? Or is it a stable connection like 3g?

Lol, the connection strength isn't too shaby... It does disconnect often but that is because number one, the coverage is still somewhat spotty and two this phone has that "best connection" thing where it automatically picks the best coverage spectrum. So when i'm at home it always wants to pick my wifi since it's the strongest signal... the pic was actually taken while driving which was even more impressive... i wish there was a way to manually enable LTE like Wimax because sometimes you're in an area where u know there is 4g coverage cuz u got it b4 but the phone may not be scanning when u happen to drive thru that area. But once it is more widely deployed it will be like 3g where u can get it everywhere and provide a stable connection.

LTE is the next step 4th generation in wireless radio data transmission(although none of the carriers are actually providing true 4g speeds yet, the capacity is there)... unlike wimax it doesn't have a completely separate antenna that has to be manually switched on and off... its a different radio frequency but runs off of the same antenna as your standard 3g if im not mistaken... eHRPD tells the phone when to switch from 3g(CDMA) to LTE... as stated above once the deployment is widespread it will be a stable connection just like 3g... but thats years at minimum b4 we see that kind of coverage...

Lol you all suck! I'm in the salt lake city area and almost feel like moving to het into an lte area. I didn't see my city area I'm the planned lte areas right now... but of course I still had to have the s3
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Don't waste your time moving lol. I live in Atlanta and its so spotty we might as well not have it. I don't get it at home or work. A few spots as you drive come on but what good is that? Quite disappointing really. However when i did get it and stopped, i got a 35meg test speed.
In Joliet, IN for business and I'm getting between 17 and 20 down and 4 to 6 up. Not bad considering I'm not getting anything in North Dallas where I live even though the Sprint Coverage map has me completely covered in LTE.....Sprint Coverage map sucks to be honest.
I have yet to see 4g LTE in my status bar and I live in SF area. Is there a toggle bar somewhere or in the settings area? I'm using blazer ROM
Thanks

how fast are your 3G speeds?

Hey so I have a question for you guys. How fast are your 3G speeds? I'm asking because my gs3 won't go over 600 kb even at my best service. And my wifi is also extreamly slow. The wifi doesn't make sence to me Cuz my Droid x2 uses the same wifi and it gets triple the speed that my gs3 gets. Any one have the same problem or have a solution for this?
My WiFi is fine. 3g sucks.

Edit: However... look at some of the other tests down below...signal blows up around here, although I keep getting told just wait for LTE... I'm waiting...

LOL, that's about what I get when I'm roaming on your network(I'm with US Cellular). I thought it was just cause I was roaming.
I can't say the words "Sprint", "3G" and "Fast" in the same sentence without laughing (or crying)
This is in the Denver area:
Ping: 366 ms
Down: 23 kbps
Up: 326 kbps

Nope.. its because the network here absolutely sucks. Ive done battle with Sprint for over a year about the crappy signal here and gotten nowhere.
Here are mine. Funny thing is I live in a very small town in Western New York and we got 2 Network Vision towers put up recently with 4 more on the way lol. But hey I'm not complaining

I've seen MAX almost 2 Mbps. Average speed is about 1. Pittsburgh area.
I just got 446 kbps this morning but 9507 kbps tonight. No 4g and 905 nightly cm10. It seems things run better a day or two after flashing. Could be my imagination.
OK forget it, I had the wifi turned on ... "if it's too good to be true..."
