ok so i just rooted my et4g and i installed rom manager, im trying to flash the recovery and it has four options to flash.
none in which say et4g
only
samsung at&t GalaxyS2
samsung GalaxyS i9000
samsung GalaxyS i9000 (MTD)
samsung GalaxyS2
which one is my best bet?
if any of them i think the bottom one is but i was worried that one is for the euro s2?
any help would be greatly appreciated
None of the above.
so what do i do??
i want to flash a rom already! haah
Odin a rooted kernel with clockwork mod (chris41g's lost kernel is what I used), and follow the ROM install instructions from the development section.
and lets just say if i used this vs using that method lol

If you are worried about customization issues or just want to remain stock, I would flash this. It is completely stock with cwm. You can than flash a prerooted rom or su.zip and you are rooted and ready to go.

There are double sounds showing when choosing ringtone, etc. Strange for a official build no? Also I notice the screen touch sound is the older GB one i think.

Yeah its gone, But I think Its only cosmetic and never an actual bug. People have OS super high and get 4-6 hours of screen time. I dont think it has anything to do battery.
So does this mean an actual ota is in the near future? And if so can we update to it and get root back? Or am I getting ahead of myself? Lol

Yeah freaking right! I wish! I only get 2 hours screen on time at most. Even GB but I think it's because Sprint just sucks. I dunno but it's depressing. I know I got better battery life before but mo matter what I flash, full wipes and all I still get bad battery life lately.

That's because that's what most everybody gets, and that number is really pretty good. nobody will get 6 hours of screen on time with a stock battery...probably not even with an extended battery. I think the Android OS bug is real, at least I've noticed pretty big decrease since going to these ics alphas. Since I've tried the leaked official...battery has been tons better.

yea i acidentally sent it twice.
Hi all, this is my first post and i hope to take advantage from it.
I've done a lot of research in the android development forums. The first thing i did to my phone was to get it rooted. So far so good, i followed the instructions and everything went ok.
Now i want to install a ROM. Thing is there is a lot of terminology i do not quite understand and i want to know for sure how this process is done correctly. In theory i know how to install a ROM but some disclaimers keeps me from doing it.
The main question here is, my phone has to meet some prerequisites in order to install a ROM? I mean, the android version of my phone, baseband version, kernel version and build number necessarily need to have the same characteristics from the ROM i will be flashing? For example, Team Kang's Juggernaut base band version is T989VKID mine is T989UVKL1, the android version is 2.3.5, mine is 2.3.6 and so on. That basically is it. I do not want to mess up my phone but at the same time i wanna enjoy those great roms.
Thanks in advance and i wish a happy valentine's day to all
Download ROM manager. Pick install from sd card. Wipe data and cache. Pick the ROM you downloaded. Just make sure you only install roms from this forum
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
The answer to your question is basically no. Roms don't change your baseband. So that doesn't matter. If your on 2.36 and you install a 2.35 ROM you'll just be on 2.35. But in the case of a kickass ROM that would be just fine.

instead of using rom manager, I would suggest doing everything from the CWM recovery itself. The manual way is always better and you encounter less problems along the way..
i.e. backup/restore isn't complete. didn't wipe everything clean... etc.

I could be wrong but I think the last version of CWM wont let you make backups to the internal but you can flash from the internal. But the newest touch version that just came out a few weeks ago does have internal suppoert for backups so you have to flash the latest one. And I would listen to them when they say not to use rom manager there are far too many problems with it. Also the latest version of juggs is 4.1 and that is 2.3.6. I would use that one. Good luck

Sorry for the bump fellas but this saves me from making a new thread:
I currently have a GB Rom (revenge of macnut) and would like to update my phone since it is over due. I love the Rom I currently have but little glitches have been causing it to lock up.
If I wanted to go to a JB rom, would I need to go to a stock rom first or not? Wasn't sure if I needed to put on a stock Jb rom or if I can go right into a rom with a clean wipe.
Thank you for any replies!

you know it's been a while when I have to ask what a radio is? I haven't found a good FAQ yet but once I find the rom I want I'm sure the proper radio is recommended as well. is it like klies or cwm?

I seen a post where the 4.2.2 Google edition rom was available to flash onto my tmobile S4, I was wondering if I can just flash it after wiping, or if I need the ktoonz kernel? I'm not even sure what the ktoonz kernel is, I've flashed ROMS before, just not on my s4. I'm rooted with twrp. And my build is the UVUAMDL one where I needed to get past boot loader lock thing. Sorry, I'm using my phone and I don't have the right links with me. Any help would be nice

I Highly suggest you don't flash anything until you read up on the forums and figure everything out. Read up on kernels, roms, gapps, bootloader, recovery etc. Then when you get that stuff down read about the roms you want to flash. If you flash am incorrect file you can hard brick your phone.

I'm fairly familiar with flashing. I know my way around twrp and cwm. I just never knew what a kernel was.. Never needed to use one on my vibrant... So I know how to flash, that's not my question... I want to know if, with a stock rooted tmobile galaxy s4 (UVUAMDL), can I just flash the Google edition rom from twrp, then I'm good to go? And will I lose my root? It looks pretty straight forward, I just want to make sure my phone is Ok for the rom, and if I need the ktoonz file, cuz some people were mentioning it...

I was looking at that, so I wipe everything in twrp, and flash it like normal, but I'll lose root? Download the chainfire zip and install it in twrp as well to get root again?
Quick question, if I ever wanted to send my phone into get serviced, I can completely wipe my phone back to stock by flashing that back on the phone using Odin, correct? That would do the root as well, so when I sent it in, they would be none the wiser?

Jellybean doesn't have flash... It uses Google chrome as default browser unlike custom Roms that has a browser that has a browser built in.

Will there be completely stable versions of the Google edition s4 released sometime in the future? I'm just seeing way to many different versions of the same thing where some things aren't working properly, and it doesn't seem to be as simple as just flashing the rom. All sorts of other stuff needs to be done like changing build.prop and whatnot. I just want to be able to flash the rom and be done with it... Is that possible right now? Or no. I guess I'm not as familiar with all the terminology as I thought. I still don't know what a kernel really is, I flashed one once and it just made my cwm recovery menu different... And I know I needed a specific kernel to flash specific ROMS.. Is that the case here with these Google edition roms?
