Hello,
I've been using Flinnys CM 10.1 builds for some time now, but decided to go back to gingerbread for battery life and overall bugless experience.
But as soon as i flashed i noticed some errors related to Google Play Services. Google+ and Hangouts display an error saying, that Google Play Services is needed, YouTube just shows an error, and Cerberus suggest to install google play services for better tracking. Google Play Services is not shown in Google Play but can be installed trough web page (it shows "Application is Compatible with your HTC Desire Z"). After installing all of mentioned errors persist, apps still can't detect google play services. I tried clearing applications and Play Services settings, superwiping and reflashing, installing varius verions of Services and Store via .apk, but nothing helped.
Those problems reproduce on both MIUI 2.3.23 and CM 7.2 (latest nightly).
Has anyone else experienced similar problems, have you managed to solved them?
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
Sounds like you didn't wipe all before flashing your new ROM, or restored from jellybean to gingerbread. Either way you need to do a full wipe and not restore

Thanks, for your replay.
I wiped all partitions including sd-card, installed clear miui.us, and this time it worked.
But the only things I previosuly restored from JeallyBean were sms/mms and call log, can that break anything or is it something on sdcard?
Without being there I couldn't tell you for sure, restoring messages and call logs is safe, there must have been some residue left over from jelly bean previously

I started to suspect MIUI Polish patch (haven't mentioned it, didn't I?), so I did a full wipe, formatted sd card, backing up only pics, music, sms, etc., and installed clear miui. Installed G+, installed play services, updated everything etc. After that I installed the patch. Everything seems to work for now. But still I have no idea, what broke CM7.
Anyway, thanks again for Your help.

The android market just gives me that striped animation anytime I try downloading an app. Have tried clearing the market cache, google framework service cache nothing seems to work! Just the new EU firmware OTA and rooted and removed the bloat apps and downloaded script manager from the market without any problems. Then tried to download a busybox app...thats when the market just stuck on the stripped animation and its been that way with everything else I've tried from the market incuding updates to my apps. Please any help guys??

Done a restart ?
If it does not help: Because you are rooted, you should be able to delete the Android Market. You can get the AndroidMarket.apk from the net and reinstall it(Unknown Sources have to be checked). But before doing something fancy, you should do a BACKUP, with CWM or RZR.

Yeah several restarts. Just got an update, it appears the youtube app also gets stuck with the rotating circle...cant load the video. Cant help but assume these are related. And also I've tried this on both wifi and 3G, same.

This is strange indeed. If even the solution above doesn't help, I would recommend you to flash you ROM via ODIN. Usually it should replace the missing files, so this could work. Do a Backup as mentioned above.
BTW: But generally your internet works? (via Browser)

Yes my internet works fine. I actually cant do anything requiring a usb cable since I lost mine and wont be getting a new one till the weekend maybe. I actually tried some other things like clearing the cache partition in recovery (stock) and logging out of gTalk and relogging in which solved similar problems for people online. Just seems everything is fine...except the market cant connect and download stuff, and youtube cant connect and load videos...I feel its a google account problem surely but dont have a clue what to do. Thanks for your response all the same.
First......Ensure SD Card is properly seated, open phone and make sure of this!!!
Do these :
Settings/Applications/Manage
Applications/All/
Downloads/Clear Data.
Media Storage/Clear Data....

I cant quite explain what happened, but I fixed it. It had to do with a botched backup/uninstall of google books with TB. I tried to back it up but it seemed to just hang up. Then I killed TB in the Task Manager and restarted it. I realised a backup had been made for the older version(1.46) instead of the new version(1.52). Google Books showed up as a system app after my last FW upgrade and I updated it (through the market) but the update made the app unusable(FC everytime I start it). I ignored all that at the time since I didnt use it actually. Tried to remove it yesterday and I guess that set this whole mess in motion. Thanks to all
I cannot download anything from the play store after flashing the rom again.it was all good before.but after flashing it again due to some probs i cannot download or update anything.tried clear data from setting, cleared cache, dalvik cache, fixed permission.flashed the gapps again but still does not work.it pops an error message. 'Upload of xxx could not be completed due to an error.error retrieving info from server'. Any clue wat can cause this problem?

How exactly did you get market enabler to work/fix the issue? I installed, and it says that it works, but I can't get past the server issue at all. I've tried setting it to TMobile and VZW US, tried Canadian settings, and a few others ...
I'm on a VZW GNex, running a nightly of AOKP. The issue started literally out of nowhere in the afternoon yesterday. hadn't changed any settings or flashed a new rom. Just got out of work, and couldn't connect to the market all of a sudden. This did coincide with a Rom Manager gallery screw up though - fixed that luckily. Decided to re-flash my current ROM, but that hasn't helped either.
Almost wonder whether it's worth relocking, going back to stock, and exchanging the phone =/

Try clearing market data and google services framework data.then try again.i changed it to T-mobile.that worked for me.
Yesterday, Google Play Store was working flawlessly.
Now, it opens, lists the apps updates and when I try to download, it crashes.
I'm with AOKP jb 4 in the Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250.
The version of gapps installed with the ROM was 20120726.
Some sites (like goo.im) released 20121011. It does not work either.
I'm flashing gapps and wiping the cache/dalvik each time.
Did you try to wipe market app data and reboot?

Yes. And the problem continues.
If I uninstall the updates, the problem continues.
What can I do now? Am I alone with this?
Force close it and then clear data... when it's done then Download from internet the latest Play Store and install it by replacing the old one..

How? Where do I download the .apk file? Sorry for the silly question...
I've downloaded from here -http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-google-play-apk-3-9-16/
And installed. The app opens and when I try to download it crashes...
Strange that it worked until yesterday...
The strange part: if I login in my PC I can load the Google Play Store and from "My apps" I am able to install new apps and also update the old ones...
What's going on? ???
Know what?
Today it simple disappeared and the apps updated regularly.
Seems that, yesterday, something went wrong in the communication with the Google Play and not in my phone.
I promise: I did nothing to solve (I'm sure I've restored a nandroid of few hours before it starts to happen).
I recently updated my Galaxy Nexus ROM to Paranoid android based on 4.2. I noticed a few issues...
After upgrading I stopped getting Facebook notifications.
DashClock widget is showing up as incapable in the Play Store.
I can no longer get play store apps pushed to the device through a browser.
I can't sign in to Google Plus. My google account shows sync errors (everything but Google Plus is syncing).
I tried a factory reset because I suspected Titanium Backup might have caused problems. I tried using the Google stock ROM (4.2.1). Nothing fixed it. Note that I didn't have issues with previous versions of Paranoid Android. I have done some googling and forum searching to no avail. Help is appreciated, thanks.
I do presume you've wiped all caches through twrp or cwm?
If not, then do so and reinstall the ROM again.
Helpful advice: when upgrading, unless you absolutely MUST, don't restore apps or data with TB. Many users reported instability issues after doing so. Always download fresh apps from the play store

Yes, I wiped all Caches before upgrading. I will try again without restoring.
Hi. I just installed unofficial CM9 on my Wildfire Buzz and to update hangouts, I required Google Play Services. I installed it from the market but it seems to be Crashing every few seconds with the prompt "Unfortunately, Google Play Services has stopped"... This has been getting real annoying. I nearly tried everything, Wiping its and play store's cache, data, rebooting to recovery, wiping cache and dalvik cache, factory resetting and even just re-installing Google Play services.Nothing seems to work. Do I need to convert Play services to a system app or something? I'm confused. Someone help?

On the cm9 thread there should be a package called GApps (short for Google apps) did you flash the correct version for ICS?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk
Seems odd.
Yes, I did. I also noticed that the play services framework IS there in system/app but it installed the update as an absolutely different app. Why do I say so? Here -
1.When I installed it from the play store, It said installing not updating
2.It can be moved to the sdcard with ds app2sd without ds system app remover.

This error mainly occurs when I load the play store or hangouts. Should I try to backup the install app to an apk and replace the one in the system folder?
EDIT! : Google Play Services has gone missing from /system/app after reboot! Even play store has automatically downgraded itself and Gives "server error" when I try to open it. Re-installing ROM with different slim-gapps package rather than full gapps (Saves me 40MB space!---- Lulz.xD)
Whaa?

Okay, I reinstalled gapps and the rom and I still have the same issue. It pops up ever 7-10 seconds in Play music. Any help? Had this issue on another port of cm9 too! Is this an ics bug?

I really don't think he Rom thread had anything useful. It is not listed in the bugs section. I followed all the instructions again and didn't get anywhere except 2 more errors - com.google.process.gapps has stopped and Play store has stopped. Trying to get the logcat now. The error only appears when I connect to the internet. Shall I turn off sync? Can it be related? If it doesn't work, I would probably have to change my rom. >.<
I'm using this rom with the Full Gapps included on the thread. Still Google Play services has stopped. :/

Edit: Google Play services has started to receive the 2nd update today. Let's see what happens! Will start logcat once play services is up and running to capture the first force close.

Hmmm. A few more questions
Have you moved any Google play related apps to your sdcard?
Does your sdcard have an ext partition?
Is the date and time on your phone correct?
Can other apps connect to the internet without issue?
Is your home internet connection stable? ie any chance the gapps package you downloaded has became corrupted?
Had you tried any other ROMs?

Have you moved any Google play related apps to your sdcard? - No. I had earlier. Right now, all on internal storage.
Does your sdcard have an ext partition? - No
Is the date and time on your phone correct? - Yes. It is usually on automatic.
Can other apps connect to the internet without issue? - Yes. Browser and Talk can connect. Hangouts after update does connect but keeps crashing
Is your home internet connection stable? ie any chance the gapps package you downloaded has became corrupted? - Internet is on all the time and is supported by a backup power source so it never shuts. I re-downloaded it anyways and same issue. I have used other cm9 ics roms, same issue.
Btw, it just finished updating, No issues yet. (Been 30 mins! Woah!Still connected to wifi)

That's great news have you tried it on data and not on WiFi? It might have been your internet connection
Also as a rule of thumb you should be careful what apps you move to your sdcard as lots can have issues and some cannot run all the time (which is required for apps like SD maid)
If your getting really low on space try looking at using an ext3 partition on your sdcard and app2sd type set-ups

Thanks! But, won't moving to the sdcard and moving to an ext3 partition give the same results? I found why I was having the error. I think it was because my device was always downloading a real old version of play services. Anyways, I am trying a different rom now. Let's see if this one has the issue too or is it fixed by google. Any suggestions to some fast 4.0.4 roms? I tried Cm9 unofficial. Searching for more. Currently trying elementary ux.
