Hi,
since I cannot post in the myONEv thread, here are my 2 questions:
(i) Is there any ad-blocking software? I have an issue with an application (Medscape) saying I probably have an ad-blocking software ...
(ii) Is there a way to whitelist this app?
I really need this app and the rom is working great, so I'd like to keep it
Thanks

I believe Curiousnoob added an ad blocking Host file. You can locate it and remove all entries.
Sent from my One V using xda premium
Hosts is usually in /system/etc.
You could edit the file and remove the offending entry, as well. Make sure you mount /system as writable

Just flash the attached stock host file in recovery.
You'll remove all the ads block. So you need to install an ads blocking app when you need that feature again.
Thanks, will try that tomorrow!
In the meantime I have found another way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6221846&postcount=11
I myOne RC9 kernel, 5-enabled quick charge.
Or a mod for fast charging
Related
I extracted the wifi drivers from system/etc/wifi from a system dump of the SBF and placed them into the system.img from the cyanogenmod backup... they work great... I even was able to get wifi tethering to work via Barnacle...
I am currently trying to experiment with enabling it via the settings but I really have no idea to be honest, I added wifi.tethering.ti=1 to the build.prop but it didn't work, i might have failed too though
Posting link soon for the driver files.... I don't know if ALL of them are necessary
I wasn't able to see barnacle in the market for our devices; this is the APK i used.
Btw use root explorer or ADB the files into your system/etc/wifi/ directory; overwrite old ones... ignore the softap directory (maybe that's why i have not had any luck yet? haha.)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8M2WSPQ0
adding this flag
wifi.tethering.ti=1 - failed
testing this flag now
ro.mot.wifi.hotspot=1 - failed
So currently I can get adhoc via barnacle but no infrastructure via settings
Great...
Can you make a updater zip and I will add it in my download section.
If you can't.. let me know and I can help ...
PS
Enabling tethering is kernel related unless you use third party apps
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Hope you don't mind... added a zip for recovery in my cm7 thread so you can just flash it.
Again. Great work
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
thanks I figured it'd be kernel related but I was hoping it was in the kernel already and perhaps just flagged off somewhere...
I can't make the update.zip because to be honest I don't remember how... Hahaha... permissions and scripts? :/ thanks for making the update
You can use wifi update zip as a base. Just add correct system folder with files like app lib etc and delete the old files
For this it would be etc folder
In recovery... if you want to mount sdcard... just start adb in advanced recovery menu then you can mount sdcard.. much easier then having to have phone on to swap and install files

Made this to have ad blocking and be able to watch Hulu on my gnex without having to revert from adfree every time I wanted to use Hulu. Just removed the lines that referenced Hulu.
IT IS ADVISED YOU MAKE A NANDROID BEFORE APPLYING.
Just rename "huluhost" to "hosts"
Backup original host file from /ect
Then move or copy new host to /ect
May need to delete cache/davlik

will this work on any device?

Yessss, thank you!

Should work on any device.. host file is basically the same stuff as windows.. can even use this file for your windows machine and block the ads there too..

Sorry about the typo. It should work once you rename it to hosts.
Does my Nexus have to be rooted? Aside from the ad's, I'm pretty happy with it the way it is. I can't find the /etc folder or a hosts file at all.

You need root.
@blue2107 the file is down.
FYI. Here is a the method I use, it will also keep your file up to date.
1) Use adfree to download latest hosts file, this will also backup your original
2) Copy the file to your sd card
3) Open the file with a text editor that supports "find and replace" function, I used Jota Text Editor
4) Replace "hulu" with something else, I use "nothulu"
5) Replace the ect/hosts file with the one you just edited
Let me know if you have any feedback or if you have any problems with this method.
Also I attached a copy of the file I am using.
Check out "AdAway"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.adaway
It has a white list feature.
I have not used that feature myself, but the application is great.
So here is my problem.
When using my hotspot on my Win8 computer, it wont let me click through certain webpages like cashback websites like bigcrumbs and ebates and gets stuck on the redirection pages like "anrdoezrs.net" when tranfering me to a specific website. It won't fuly transfer me through to the store I want to gain cashback at.
I recently got the new computer with Win8 on it. Now that I have have tried my hotspot on multiple Win8 computers with it not working, I'm assuming it must be the problem. It ran perfectly with Win7 beforehand.
I am currently running [ROM]Phantom's Blazer Rom[Yo][8/2/12][v0.1.5][FF18]
I did notice on the tethering options of my phone that it did not list that it supported Win8. (Yet it does work for mostly all of the websites except the ones I'm speaking of).
Is there a way to fix my problem with the Rom version I'm running right now? (I know its a little outdated).
Do I need to update to a newer version of the Blazer rom? Or should I get a different rom?
(I need to have a rom that has the 4g hacked hotspot and it need to be able to be used with my PS3 for online gaming as well).
Thanks for listening

Root explorer is my personal choice as well as many others.
What TD meant, a root browser that will properly read the root directory. Some file browsers fail at that.

Seriously though, it's a text file. Just delete it or delete its contents.
Also, I believe using your phone as a hotspot without paying for it is violating your TOS. It's a good way to get kicked off the network.
Hiiiiiiiiii Ya
I AM Fi1ite WITH A NEW TRICK
THIS IS MY FIRST POST ON WINDOWS 10 MOBILE
AND
THE SECOND ON XDA FORUM
THIS TUTORIAL TEACHES YOU HOW TO SHARE YOUR APPS FROM YOUR WINDOWS 10 MOBILE TO ANOTHER WINDOWS 10 MOBILE INSTANTLY JUST LIKE SHARE IT APP IN ANDROID BUT A LITTLE HARDER.
GONNA TEACH THIS IN TWO PARTS.
1. SHARING (THE APP FROM YOUR PHONE)
2. CARING (INSTALLING IT ON RECEIVER's PHONE)
TUTORIALS:
SET UP: :highfive:
In both the Phones turn on developer mode
SETTINGS->.UPDATE & SECURITY->FOR DEVELOPERS->DEVELOPER MODE->Yes
Using file manager in windows phone 10:
Extract Dependencies_ARM.zip (attached to this post) to both sender's and receiver's phone
Install All the extracted apps to both sender's and receiver's phone
Install InteropTools App (attached to this post) to both sender's and receiver's phone
Install AppDataManage tool (attached to this post) to both sender's and receiver's phone
Install WinZip Universal to both sender's and receiver's phone using windows store
After Success full Installation in both devices:
SHARING PART:
Open AppDataManage tool in sender's phone
Navigate to Settings.Turn on Show advance options.Back to main menu.Navigate to Apps.Tap on any app to share .Press Create Archive from installation path.Save the zip file as App.zip
Let the process complete. Chilllzzz :angel::angel:
Exit the app.
Tap the zip using file manager (it will automatically open the zip with WinZip Universal). Tap the folder Shown
Check for AppxManifest.xml File
-If it exists then The App is Share Able.
-If it does not exist. The App is non share able. Possibly look for another App to share.
If AppxManifest.xml exist then: :good:
Look For Something like AppxSignature File (AppSignature or AppxSignature or AppsSignature ). If it exist then delete it using long press menu.
Save the zip file using the toolbar in Winzip Universal. Share The Zip file using bluetooth to the Receiver's phone. YAY!!!:laugh:
You Can Share This To Multiple Phones. OOOOHOOOO!!:laugh:
INSTALLING IT ON RECEIVER's PHONE:
Tap the zip file (located in downloads folder) in receiver's phone using its file manager and extract its contents to the same folder.
Open Interop Tools in Her Phone (Receiver's phone).
Select "This Device" . Navigate to Application Manager. Tap on developer mode.
Swipe to Register a package. Browse to the extracted contents. Locate The AppxManifest.xml. Select it.
Press Register Package. Wait for it to finish registering.
YEPPI !!!!!!!!
Puff!!!! You Have Successfully Created a backup of your app as well as shared it too
Thanks Alot To Them Whose Apps I have Used.
Special Thanks To:
gus3300 - Interop tools
Mahdi Ghiasi - App data manager
Microsoft - Dependencies ARM

Hmm... Looks Like There is a Bug in The Backup Tool.. No Problem .. Its the Men Who Makes Faults And its The Buggy Apps Which Create Problems... However The Dev Worked Hard For His Tool and I do Respect Him...
Here's The Solution For YOUR PROBLEM It Works For All Apps Whether Paid Or Free.
1. Get Full FileSystem Access On Your Phone [Pls Browse The Xda For That ]
2. Uninstall The Backup Tool.
2. Connect Your Phone To PC
3. Using Explorer Go to C:\Data\Programs\WindowsApps And Search For Folder With Partial App Name And Make Backups Of Your Apps.. [You Might Get many folders with similar name in that case See The Size Mb of the folders and take the one which seems appropriate to you]
4. Rest Part You Know.. [About deleting The AppxSignature File and Sharing]
I HOPE THIS HELPS.... I KNOW YOU WILL NOT EVEN THANK ME FOR THIS ...

Which version of Android are you running? I don't believe that you can manipulate the /system files anymore on Android 13 as they are all read only - even with root. But hopefully, perhaps my file manager with root permissions just doesn't work as it hasn't been updated in almost two years =/.
Anyone else have any thoughts here?

From there you can toggle between windows or create a split screen.
