Just installed Unofficial Slim Bean Build 7 (JB 4.2) on my E4GT SPH-D710... everything seems great except for the life of me I can't figure out how to set the key backlight to always stay on while the screen is on. Anyone have any idea where I can set this?
I believe it is under display settings. Should be something like "touch key Light duration".

Unfortunately, it's not there :/ That's where it used to be, but there's no setting for it under that menu anymore.
You have to push a "galaxys2settings.apk"from another ROM and push it to system to your current ROM and you should get a "device" menu option in settings now....

I think because of the new kernel, some of the settings didn't show..KT is looking into it..I'm also having problems with my hotspot and data toggle in the notification shade..keep an eye out on the slim forum..I'm sure a fix will be out when KT has time..he's busy, the guy has ROMs all over the place.lol. hope this helped..
Awesome! The trick with putting galaxys2settings.apk in the system folder worked, thanks!

Hmmm, apparently I spoke too soon. I do get the "Device" menu that has the options to change the timeout, however it doesn't seem to pay attention to my selection. If I chose "never" to keep the light on all the time, it still goes out after a few seconds. :/

Hey guys/gals, got a quick question...I just changed my density to 240dpi using rom toolbox, didn't like it, so I tried driving back to stock 320, and can only go to 280..how can I fix this? Any help is appreciated!

in the Toolbox, on the same screen that's in your picture, click on the pencil in the top right corner to manually edit build.prop file. Scroll all the way towards the bottom and change ro.sf.lcd_density value to 320.
Thanks netbuzz! That's a life saver...

You should try Paranoid Android. It's CM10 but with the ability to adjust the DPI on a per app basis.
Oh-I used Paranoid Android! Loved it too, I just like flashing too much to stay on one rom too long...plus I really like the modified softkeys from the cm10 preview build and don't know if they'll work on pa

Ha, I know that feeling! "Hmm... this ROM is totally bug free.. better flash a different one!" If you do go back to PA I'd be willing to bet the soft keys mod would work since it's CM10 with extra bacon.
Haha! Right? I'll be keeping the .zip of the softkeys mod on my sd just in case....

Are you pure stock or do you have root/custom recovery?
If you are stock there is no way to stop it but if you have custom recovery there was a mod created in the development section to stop it.
Link
im stock damn. I just got my s3 like 3 days ago, i was going to wait to root it but because of this reason imma root it to get rid of this damn thing!
In settings raise the bar for roaming like 100GB.

Go to /system/csc/feature.xml and open it with text editor, under launcher you'll see the tilt effect and change it to false, save and reboot.

That's all? I just did that and I'm not sure if I notice a difference. I guess it's just ever so slight of a change that I don't see it.

Re: GS3 home screen transistion??
Are you guys talking about the same transitions that the op is referring to.??
He refers to when you swipe across the screen you see what looks like a ghost page turning into the screen page.
Almost looks like something you see with goLauncher.

I think they mean this:
From what I can tell, it appears every time you connect to a new WiFi network. If you have sleep mode enabled (which means it turns off data and WiFi after not using your phone for awhile), then you'll see this notification multiple times a day.
ah. yeah I get that too
Hey I'm just wondering if someone could help me remap the hardware keys. I used to just use slimbeans hardware key control. But in any 4.4 ROM there isn't a function like this.
I'd like to change the menu key to back, and the back key to recent apps. I know it's possible but I can't seem to do it. I've tried playing around with system/user/generic.kl and /touch_keys.kl. any help would be useful!

Yes I have. But I think that is for touchwiz only. There isn't a gpio-keys in aosp

You should have gpio-keys on your ROM. I swear I have read a post in the I9300 section about modifying the following files to enable on-screen nav buttons:
Code:
/system/usr/keylayout/sec_touchkey.kl
/system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl
/system/usr/keylayout/sec_keys.kl
/system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl

This is interesting. I found gpio-keys.kl in the Android 4.4.2 AOSP/Nexus 5 build "Hammerhead" but not on my phone.
I edited my previous post, im actually using AOSPA, atm, because I heard about the lock screen notifications. (Which are awesome btw!) That's interesting.. I wonder whats wrong/different in paranoid android..
