led notification stopped working after cm upgrade - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Upgraded from cm.-10.20130224-nightly to cm-10.1.2 and I've been unsuccessful in getting the the led notification to work. I upgraded with CWM and used darkside swipe before upgrading. Did I do something wrong or am I overlooking anything? I rarely hear or feel the vibrations and rely on the led notification more than anything. Any help resolving this is sincerely appreciated, thanks!

pretty sure they took it out you need a custom kernel for it now head over to CL3Kener thread and he has amazing kernels for this ROM

SO i installed the same kernal as you and i got the LED notification working but i see two issues which are bothering me,
My Vibrate option is gone. My phone will go from Mute straight to Loud (volume control) No Vibrate option anywhere.
Second issue vibrate feedback is also gone and i think this might have to do with the vibrate not working all together.
Are you seeing the same issue on your end?
i tried reinstalling CM 10.1.2 fresh with a clean wipe but still no luck.
Thanks in advance

I had this problem. Sound Manager, found in Market, is your answer. There's a hidden sound setting where your vibrate has somehow turned itself totally off.
Obvious I know, but check your vibration intensity (Menu, Settings, Sound) and make sure it is not set to 0.
I have bonsai 4.0.1 and have always had the problem since bonsai 3. Email, calendar and text notifications stop vibrating. Will have to restore via nandroid to make it work again. Very annoying.

What do you have your haptic feedback set to? I think what happens, is if you set the haptic feedback to 0, then it will stop all vibrating functions as well. Might want to check that and see what's going on.
I read this solution elsewhere, but it may have been for a different problem.
I have haptic all the way up, vibrate on everything, nothing works except another restore.

Have you tried sound manager?
Market Link
It exposes sound and vibrate settings that can somehow change, but you can't access them otherwise. Solved this problem for me.
Yep, didn't do anything for me. I actually used to use that app for regular use too. I think I have a gremlin.

There is a vibration test you can do from the dialer to test if your vibrator is working:

Notification LED doesn't flash

The new message notification LED on my (new) LTE Gnex only flashes once or twice, just when the phone boots up. Doesn't flash when a new message arrives. I've tried disabling it, and re-enabling it in settings, but it just does not work. This does not seem normal, and I'm wondering if I need to return the phone, which I really don't want to do. I've already unlocked the bootloader and rooted, but still running the stock ROM.

Have you tried Light Flow from the Market?
This has worked with the stock ROM.
I personally use Trackball Alert Pro - MoDaCo ROM has suppport for this.
Just tried calling myself, and hung up. The LED isn't lighting up. But I have seen it blink for emails at least. Hmm.. maybe try light flow.

Have not tried any 3rd party apps, yet. First I wanted to know if there was a problem with my phone, or if this is "just" a bug. If others have this same problem, then I'll try a 3rd party solution. Thanks for the feedback.
Tried the same thing, called myself and sent messages with no led notification. Thought my led was broken but then installed light flow and it worked no problems.
Not sure how it was supposed to work stock but could not get it to work at all without a 3rd party app.
Without the app, the only option I could fight was pulse notifications which I tried turning on and rebooting but it never seemed to work.

Just tried light flow. When I tried the "test LED" function, my phone would no wake from sleep. Also got sleep of death when I got an email. Had to do a battery pull. Any solution for this?
I looked at Trackball Alert and it requires Paul's ROM, which I'm not ready to try (yet).
I noticed it doesn't light up when it's charging either. Is this normal behavior?
From what I've seen so far the stock light is a hit and miss for me. Only time will tell how they will improve this.

Well its not your phone....The light stock is stupid I have no idea why you would include a light that only flashes random times and only in white..... I had issues with lightflow crashing my phone when waking with several notifications flashing. Just bite the bullet an flash ARHD or Paul's rom they both support Trackball notification and it works very well!!

Yep. Probably don't have/use most apps that support it for me to notice it all the time.
I've been having the same trouble. Haven't seen the light in days.
I went back and revisited some of my settings. I had turned on the setting for the screen to "stay awake while charging." I unchecked it, and now my light is working again.
Now, it only ever comes on when the screen is off to begin with. It won't come on if the notification happens while it's already on.
But at least the light comes on when the screen is off now!
(And I really wish the blink rate was higher. You can look at it for several seconds between blinks, and think there's nothing and look away.)
So the change I made to the settings seems to have fixed the light issue. I have been properly getting notifications since I turned off the keep awake. Seems like an easy enough to fix bug as long as they know about it.
But now what I want is a faster blink rate. One second on out of every 6 or 7 seconds is easy to miss.

[Q] No haptic feedback ("vibrate on touch") in Galaxy Nexus

Hi everyone,
I've looked for a solution all over the net, but seems like no one had this problem before (guess i'm a special girl...):
The vibrate feedback when touching the screen just stopped working, in spite of the settings under "settings -> sounds -> vibrate on touch".
It started after an update to AOKP rom - milestone 5 (based on ICS 4.0.4) + Franco kernel nightly r151, but effects all the other roms. Maybe one untouched system file damaged.
I've tried everything: restore from previous nandroid backup, another rom (CM9), another kernel, another launcher, I even wiped everything and flashed new and clean rom-stock from google developers' page. And yet - no vibrate feedback.
The wired thing is that the haptic feedback is working in few specific applications, like the build-in ICS keyboard and the dialer Dialer-One, so it probably not some hardware failure.
All this time there are five softkeys that still have haptic feedback: the buttons of the nav-bar, the button that opens the applications drawer and the google-search widget.
I've tried using "KickBack" instead, but it's too aggressive and very uncomfortable.
PLEASE, PLEASE - Help me!
Same thing happened to me. I had the exact same setup and the haptic feedback went away after I flashed the kernel. Since I've had lots of issues when trying custom kernels, I just restored a nandroid and went back to the kernel included with aokp.

Hi TaliKa
I've just had this problem myself but it happens long after I flashed aokp m5 + franco r152 (too) so I'm not exactly sure what caused it. However after I went to clear my cache and dalvik cache, everything seems fine again.

Yeah this just happened to me too. It was working fine for awhile on AOKP and then all of a sudden it stopped. No idea what happened exactly. I tried whiping everything and restoring CM9 but that didn't work either. I thought maybe hardware but the phone vibrated on boot so it isn't that. Hopefully we find a fix...

im starting to believe its a hardware issue (well at least for me) i mean i dont even get a vibration upon booting or turning off the phone...and i even went back to full stock...same thing
maybe it might have been some software issue that led to the overburning of the motor(doubt that though)
what is weird though is that the same scenario happened to us so im lost...
maybe i should start talking to samsung for my replacement
meanwhile...im very open to suggestions that might help my case
hope we find something soon...u guys, does it vibrate at all?when u turn on ur phone?turn off? unlock ?

Yes, it vibrates at boot and also when using application with it's own vibrate settings, like "dialer one" for example.
Did you try using KickBack just to check the hardware?
if it's some hardware issue, maybe you can apply to your warranty supplier about that, just flash stock rom and relock your device before.

Good to know. I went ahead and flashed the base image and it restored vibration, then I rooted and flashed AOKP again. It worked for about that day and then this morning when I woke up the vibration is gone again. I'm almost positive it's AOKP's software. I'll test another ROM (Android Revolution) for a day and see if it happens again.

[Q] Notification LED Constant Blue

This just started today. My notification light is a constant blue. It won't go off. I have no notifications of any kind. In fact I turned off everything. I'm not using Lightflow. I wiped cache and dalvik and even reflashed the Kernel (Franco). It's really eating the battery.

thats the kernel lol. if youre on AOKP or CM9 check the led light settings
if its not that then it must be one of the apps in the background
Duh, sorry. I knew that. It's stock.
I can't find any running Apps that would enable an always on blue light. I've never seen this light except by modification. My green notification light is definitely not engaged at the moment as I've gotten numerous texts and emails that would have triggered it.
Any ideas at all?
have you got lightflow installed but disabled? if so you can check the accessibility settings to see if it is actually turned off,
other than that i cant see what could be causing a blue led. the GNex led by default is white for notifications. last resort would be to do a backup and factory reset
No Lightflow installed.

Peace.
Did you just install handcent? That blinks my light blue for texts.
Facebook notifications blinks blue too
Facebook notifications are completely turned off.
Handcent has been installed forever. But I haven't made any changes to the notification process. And the light doesn't blink. When the screen is off it is constant on.
The light recently turned off. But as soon as I unlocked it and locked it again the light came back.
Weird....and sooo frustrating.
All of your LED notifications are disabled? In that case, enable them ALL! LOL, That's what I would do anyway. And try to receive as many notifications as possible. Worth a shot.
At this point, I would just wipe the phone and redo a clean install. You'll end up less frustrate than trial and error to find the fix.

Yeah, but I'm really trying to avoid this. My next step is a Nandroid restore.
Sigh....
Today I had the same on CM10, freshly installed (with wipe) yesterday. I shut off the screen and the blue LED goes on constantly.
Before that, I had this issue on Stock ROM. Really don't know what's going on there, some ppl in german forums are having the same issue.
A reboot or some tricks (send yourself a text message) do help clear the LED. My catlog says nothing, i.e. I didn't found any suspect message.
