[Q] Phone call audio switches back to handset from bluetooth - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've had bluetooth headsets forever and this problem is killing me!
Currently running CleanRom AT&T SE3.0 but also had the problem with his 4.9 international version, using I317UCAMA4 for the radio. Headset is Jawbone ERA.
What started happening recently is that I'll answer/make a call on the headset and randomly it'll switch audio back to the phone, either . I'll suddenly realize it's happened and look at the dialer which shows that it's still going to bluetooth. I can listen to bluetooth audio streaming and it never happens, only on phone calls.

I had this issue b4, but changed Bluetooth earpieces already!! Using Q3 and the Plantronics Legend...
But I'm thinking you may have to delete the Bluetooth paired link. And try re- pairing it too the phone again.. it helped me once!!

Found out that it seems to be a common problem with Jawbone...a software update at some point may have been the culprit or not, either way, no resolution.

Yeah, there's only one update and most people are claiming that's what started a multitude of problems. I already updated a long time ago.
On the other hand, I tested with a older Blueant Z9i I had laying around and discovered the same problem which points it back to the ROM or radio, I'm not sure which. I'm currently running CleanROM ATT SE3.0 and UCAMA4 for the radio. UCAMA4 is the most current radio right? It was happening on CleanROM 4.9 and the previous radio as well though so I'm pretty confused.

Here's the latest MODEM UCAMC3:

That might help your problem!!
Don't think it's Rom related tho. If you want to try something similar to clean Rom with a few added features, look here. Same thing I'm running NOW!! Skynote 9

lol, thanks. Actually i was hoping an answer from anyone having problems.
I was having them quite often, figured out it was only when I had DSP manager or Awesome beats installed AND set to modify the bluetooth sound. Not sure if this is your case or not but thought I would chime in. To fix I just unchecked ALL options under bluetooth then unpaired. (Turn off BT go into BT on phone, unpair, turn BT on phone off, reboot phone) then I repaired and no more disconnects.

I've been having this problem with my Sony head unit and GN. It takes a couple tries for a2dp to connect and will randomly disconnect. Happened on ICS too.
Stock rooted.

I got lots of disconnections from my car audio system.
My heart rate monitor and nokia head set disconnects too much. Over 5 times in one hour.
My wife's GN also disconnects from her Kenwood head unit. Far less frequently than mine, but it happens. I'm surprised more people haven't chimed in on this issue. My dad just got his GN yesterday so I'll check his tonight to see if it too suffers from this problem.

at least i am not the only one with problems. Since i never tested bluetooth in stock ICS i thought it could be some hardware problem. But apparently other people have too ...
I had no such issues. I use it with a Plantronic 925 and a Gear4 BT stereo speaker, none if them working differently than they did on ICS.

I haven't had problems with Bluetooth audio. When I use Bluetooth File Transfer between my Xoom and Gnex, I can view my Xoom's file system from my GNex. When I try to view my Gnex file system, I get a an error message saying the Nexus does not support OBEX FTP, which it should. Not a big deal but it is a nuisance.

I am gonna test this !
i notice Bluetooth issues when connected to my motorcycle helmet.
using stock or other custom roms it will start to cut out or skip when i put the phone in my pocket and at highway speed it loses connection completely.
when using cm10 "official not the kangs" it has no issue whatsoever and the connection distance is improved 20x. i can have the phone 20 meters away and it still stays connected and even at highway speeds.

CM10 = Cyanogenmod Version 10. It is the first Jelly Bean Rom from Cyanogenmod. There are many threads on the topic but you can also find information on their site.
The official nightly releases of this version has just been released for the VZW and Sprint Galaxy Nexus as well as other devices.

I just updated the Google Search app. Google Now is even better, and the bluetooth works in Google Now and with Google Search. I love it - this is what it was supposed to be like.
Now, if we can fix bluetooth call recording...
4.2.2 is fully functional.

When I got my Note II just over a month ago, I was disappointed to find that it would not stay connected to the Bluetooth Handsfree in my new Honda CR-V. Every few minutes it would disconnect, then later reconnect.
Since the LTE/4.1.2 update, the Bluetooth Handsfree connection has been 100% reliable. So, at least one thing was fixed.
I'm using the official firmware release. It is rooted so I could remove some bloatware. Othewise it is stock.

[Q] Phone call audio problems

Ok, so I thought initially that it had to do with my bluetooth headset and the audio switching away back to the handset randomly (headset icon in the dialer stays lit). However, I also noticed now that when I'm sitting at my desk and it switches away from the headset and I then press the speaker icon, it'll also suddenly turn off the speaker as well and go back to the handset.
Running CleanRom AT&T SE3.0, I317UCAMC3. It's followed thru on a couple different rom flashes and modems so I'm not sure what the problem is, maybe radio related? RIL?
Not radio or Ril....
More likely a blue tooth reception issue. .
Look into the Cleanrom thread for the blue tooth related issues it had..
I haven't used CR for a while. ..so I can't remember the particulars. ...g
Edit...
Can't find the 3.0 link. ..and would like to review it again. ..
Have you got a working link ?

Yeah, but it's not just my bluetooth, it's even when I'm on speakerphone it's switching to internal again. Happens to two different bluetooth headsets as well.
But also, doesn't the Radio control the BT and Wifi? Maybe the RIL isn't involved but I thought the Radio was.
I checked the dev's website and it seems that he's retired that ROM entirely as it's no longer available for download. I wonder if he just pulled it due to needing more space on his server, there wasn't any bugs to speak of.

It is possible that your radio could be suffering from a problem. ..
The best way to test would of course be a complete restore via Odin. ..using Mr. Robinson rooted build. .then running triangle away and so forth. ..
It would tell you your radio condition....and if you are having trouble stock...then the device may be damaged. .
And regarding the 3.0 rom...I believe it's gone as well. ..g

[Q] Random Reboot help, please!

I have a T999V and everytime I try an Android 4.3 rom I get random reboots. It happens most often when I'm in my car, where I listen to music on my stereo via bluetooth, so I can only assume that it has something to do with bluetooth. Everything was fine when I reverted to stock via Odin. I'm using DanKang, but I had the same issue when I flashed CM 10.2. I have logs if someone could tell me how to post them.
Thanks in advance!

To begin, are these roms truly tested or Released for your device ? Also what Kernel are you using ?
Yes, they've been tested and considered stable.

Do note Tested for T999 does not immediately mean tested for T999V.
Also you didn't answer the question on Kernel.

Good point. It's this rom, and I assume whatever kernel comes with it.
DanKang
I've just flashed all of the modems and bootloaders etc for the phone in the hopes that that may help.
Keep in mind that cm roms seem to be known for BT issues. And from what I hear most of the 4.3 cm/aosp roms can be a bit buggy. I still get regular pm's about their problems reading nv data where it appears the imei and other info is lost, when in reality its just not being read.
I'd consider going back to a version that you know to work well for a while.
Or at the very least report your issue in the roms thread to see if anyone directly familiar with it might have an idea for you.
Try a different kernel too. It may be a simple as that for you!

Thank you very much for your help!!!! I'm hoping that you're wrong, but I have a sinking feeling that you're right. I've just reflashed radios etc, so I'll see if that helps. If it doesn't I'll look into another kernel, then I guess it's back to stock if neither works.

I think another Kernel may help. I can safely say Doc is right. The roms are buggy where Bluetooth is concerned. However, it shouldn't make you instant reboot when connecting to bluetooth.

Hmm..
I don't know. I went through the Major Changes Dan did to the Rom. There's nothing that jumps at me to suspect the reboots. So may I suggest a different Kernel for you to try ?
While you are at it, Do you want to try a different Modem ? Perhaps the BT/NFC antenna code may be acting up ? Doc's Signature above has the thread with Modems.

Try KT747 Release 10-16. This I am reccomending on the assumption that you are still on DanKang. If not then let me know.
The Kernel comes with a Tweaker App called KTweaker. Leave it alone until you know your reboot problem has gone away.
P. S. - I just realized, your problem only comes in car. Do you know if your phone gets warm when you are listening to music or otherwise using the phone in car ? GSIII variants have a Temperature cut off switch internally. The Phone will reboot if it got too hot. I typically use TempMonitor to check the temperature.
Lots of people have had issues with BT in the car. Almost every time it's due to the manufacturer cutting corners trying to offer features with as little cost. I agree none of this should be causing your reboots. But many use the same Rom/kernel with no such problem, leading me to believe it's either an app or setting and/or how it tries to connect to your car.
You should factory reset, install nothing, and change nothing but your basic initial setup. Now try to connect. If it still crashes, you know it's a problem between the Rom/kernel and stereo. Now try another kernel. If it still happens then I kinda doubt you will solve this using your current Rom. Try stock, just to see if it'll work.

UPDATE: So yesterday I flashed the latest bootloader, modem etc. I've had 2 20+ minute trips in the car connected to bluetooth without a random reboot. I'm not yet calling the issue solved but I'm cautiously optimistic.
THANK YOU for your help!!!!!! I'll report back and try some more of the suggestions if I have any further issues. Once again thank everyone SOOOO much for your help!

4.1.2 bluetooth MAP on 4.3?

So, I updated to 4.3 and now my focus is having problems with bluetooth. It used to work perfectly before the update but now the metadata of the song doesn't update on the radio and some other things like texts don't come through like they used to.
Simply put, is there a way to get the old bluetooth "stuff" into 4.3 or is that baked in?
I was just studying the BT issues and I found out all phones with 4.2 or greater has BT problems across the board.
Can you just copy-paste BT files? I don't know.
But its a common issue.

Quoting you too so you get a notification,
Edit: quote from a verizon thread:
Just so everyone is aware, this is due to the whole Motorola/Google ownership change. In previous versions of Android, Motorola sourced their own protocols for their products, and included MAP in their bluetooth profiles. Since the Jelly Bean update, they've used Google's own Bluetooth protocols, in which MAP was omitted.
is this true? Surely not, how would it have worked on 4.1.2?
Edit again:
http://www.androidheadlines.com/201...ocus-feature-bluetooth-map-now-supported.html
Says kitkat supports MAP again............. may just get a kitkat rom even though I'd rather stick to stock TW.....
Well, I updated to 4.4 ........... still no go
