[Q] [ROM] **GOODNESS Noteworthy** Endless Possibilites [MC2] [6/30/2013] Screenshot p - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello all,
I'm brand new to this forum and would like to thank everyone here for their contribution! So, I just flashed ([ROM] **GOODNESS Noteworthy** Endless Possibilites [MC2] [6/30/2013]) .... and I'm loving this rom. Came across a little problem and I'm not sure if it's something I did with settings or if it could possibly be a bug. When I take a screenshot with the S-Pen, copy it to the clipboard, and try to paste it in a message ... I get a message saying "Wait while items are added to slideshow" ... and then it causes the Messaging application to force close ... when opening the Messaging application up again ... the screenshot is still not there. I've Factory Reset already with no luck. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.

Try touching the paperclip in the messaging app and add ur screenshot that way.. I've never tried it the way ur talking so I'm not sure how that would work.. That would be my first suggestion..
From my rat infested note ii

Does this happen with all pictures in your mms or just screenshots that you take? Goodness room has a flashable mms fix. It's even built into the rom if you go to the icon goodness settings/click the miijjah 74 goodness header at top/and the bug fixed/mms fix

[THEME][MMS] MMS .apk with 5 themes UPDATE w/ FIX

I found this in another forum, tried it on the E4GT running EK02 and it works. If you use Touchwiz the messaging app will be removed from the dock through the process of renaming the factory mms.apk. To replace the mms icon hit "Applications" on the home screen, then "Menu", "View Type", chose "Customizable Grid" then "Menu" "Edit". Drag the MMS icon down anywhere left of the "home" icon. Hit "Back". If you don't hit back and you hit "Home" the icon won't stick. The home icon doesn't move, so you can only change the three to the left of it unless you have another hack. The MMS icon included in the APK looks like MIUI but I might try changing it. If I do I will update again.

**Update- Ok, I found a bandaid fix for those who want to use this with their current rom. Install SMS Time Fix from the market >>> http://bit.ly/vsmoUg << In the settings activate by ticking the box on the top of the screen. Click Adjustment Method and choose Use Phone's Time. Golden. You now have several themes for you message app. Tested today on Stock Deodex'd and Epic VeNuM roms. I tested all the apks.**
#1 Removed Temporarily
#2 Is Miui Icon http://bit.ly/txmSmZ
#3 Is ICS theme/no theme switcher/AOSP icon http://bit.ly/rLUgah
Let me know how it goes.
All credit goes to other people really. And thanks to crawrj and AbsoluteZeroGI for their time and giving me some ideas. I am looking for a real fix and will post it as it comes to me.
Yea I seen this on the i777 section.

I can mess with it later. I didn't try the ICS version myself, but look for something in the settings... If I can find the problem I will fix it and repost the apk.

I'm glad it worked for you. Now many people care about stock apps or light themeing but I'm tired of all the launchers changing and etc, so I am stock for a while. Which version did you try? Boring or ICS?

You have timestamp problems? I am going to try the original one. I like the ICS one, but incoming timestamps were off. Outgoing were Ok though.

Timestamps work for IN and Out for me. I am using the apk I attached.

I pasted into system/app. After that did you actually install? I just adjusted the permissions and rebooted. Maybe that's my problem?

Send and receive are fine but it looks like the ICS version has a problem with the timestamps. The vanilla versions work fine. The file from the other thread has a MIUI icon, this file has a stock icon.

Originally I pasted and renamed as per the instructions on the other thread. But I used adb from then on and did NOT install the last time I pushed the file. Also, I used the push command, not the install command. Seems like it's just the ICS apk. Try asking in that thread. The OP there might know more about it. Thanks for trying. I'll have time to check it out later so if I can fix it I will.

Samsung stock icon is brownish and white. I can try to make it green though.
Ok, I tried the version posted in this thread and the other two apks in the other thread. All had problems listing the correct incoming time stamp.
I went back to my original apk and everything is working Ok again?
I'm running Calkulin's 2.0.1 ROM. That's the only thing I can think that might be causing the problem. I wish I could get the ICS version working. I liked it.
I did post in the original thread to see if I could get an answer there. I will update in this one if I find a solution.

I'm asking to be clear. When you say timestamp is off do you mean wrong time or no time shown? Works perfect on stock rom. Sorry you guys are having a tough time with it. I might try the ICS theme just to see.

I sent a text at 1:47pm to my buddy. He replied back and his timestamp was 8:50am. Should have been 1:50pm. So it was off by 5 hours.
And not your fault, appreciate you posting it and trying to help.

I found this question answered while doing a little googling after reviewing the lotcat i created, but honestly, i wouldn't know the first thing on how to edit it....
Hi guys, I'm not getting any notifications when receiving a text message on my newly flashed miui rom (or any other ROM I flash). I've scoured the internet, forums, miui site, Google...
I've: completely wiped my phone clean.
SD card format.
Redownloaded the roms.
I'm not sure what else to do...
if anyone has had a similar problem, or have found a solution, please post it for me, i'd really appreciate it.

Also, if anyone uses MIUI roms, i'd love to hear how it has worked out for you on the EVO 4G, as my past experiences have been rocky with this rom. I've tried countless versions, but always come up with some sort of error... although, it is my favorite in terms of customization!

MIUI v4 and GO SMS 4.72 -- also no notification (no icon in status bar, no sound). Googled this issue and found...
Solution: open default MIUI SMS App, go to Settings / Other and UNtick: System mms app priority.
After unticking this setting: all GO SMS notifications (icon in statusbar, sound, popup) are working!!!
Hoping that this helps in your case too! :fingers-crossed:

Thanks a lot man for the reply. I flashed a new rom but i'll reflash MIUI to verify it works for me as well! I'll repost when i've tried it to let you know how it goes. Thanks again!
EDIT: Ok, I flashed MIUI v4 again, unclicked mms app priority, and the problem is still persistant. also, I flashed Evervolv 4.2.1 and now im getting the SAME ERROR MESSAGE as i was getting with MIUI!!! what the hell is going on? anyone?
AW: [Q]MIUI12.28 No SMS notification&FC's. Have logcat
Weird! Sorry to hear that it doesn't work for you...
Btw, I never got a error/fc-popup, my only issue was that the notifications did not work.
Really hoping that some of the advanced members or Rom chiefs here can help you!
Re: [Q]MIUI12.28 No SMS notification&FC's. Have logcat
For sure me too! What's even more strange is now I'm getting the FC even after doing a full wipe, even sd card and ext... then flashing completely different ROMs.... I'm not sure what im missing... I've even redownloaded the ROMs to be sure they weren't bad downloads...

[Q] Can someone recommend a stock MMS apk with Quick Reply?

Ive found so many stock MMS apks on here, but none of them seem to have the Quick Reply popup. Or they have the quick reply popup but no message bubbles & those ugly in message contact photos on every line. Could someone link to one for the Tmobile S3. I really want to stay on stock messaging.

You are describing TW MMS with the bubbles and AOSP MMS with the quick reply. You cannot, to my knowledge, get what you want without using an app from the play store. Like Go SMS/Handcent/chompSMS/etc.
I always hated the contact photo thing, too. Just in case I forget how to read, right? I can still look at the picture and know who I'm texting. Oh wait, no I can't. Because I'm not taking pictures of everyone in my contact list. Stupid idea. Even worse, you can't disable it. Unclear what the devs were thinking, if at all.
I hate using anything messaging from the play store because they all drain battery. Isn't there a themed one with quick reply? I hate the contact picture on every line. They're just ugly grey boxes. But I need quick reply. And I don't want to use a battery sucking app to text from the play store
There has to be a themed one somewhere

There may be a TW MMS with quick reply, but I haven't seen one. If we did have one, though, it would be buried in the themes and apps section.
I was looking in the themes and apps section. Just wondered if there was one that could be pulled from a custom Rom.
Does anyone know of one from a rom that can be pulled? So far I have found one that gets rid of the stupid contact pictures on every line, but its all black and hard to read. And has no message bubbles. Could it be modified?

Could anyone port this MMS over? It looks like its for the Verizon model. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998769 It has working quick reply and bubbles.
Any suggestions? Or does anyone know of one that can be pulled from a Rom?

You don't have to port it. Just pull it and place it in system. Make sure permissions are correct.

Maybe, maybe not. There may have been changes made by the carriers, and they may have been initially written differently for each carrier.
Can't hurt to try though. After copying it over (backup original first), if it doesn't work at first, in Settings clear data for the app, then reboot recovery and wipe dalvik.
If it still doesn't work, it may not be completely compatible...

It didnt work. Does anyone know of one from a rom they can pull and post? I hate the contact photos on every line, but I need quick reply. I have found a few, but they force close when I get an MMS. You'd think with all the amazing devs that are here, this issue would be resolved.

The issue is resolved. You just don't want to accept the answer. Find one on the store you like and use it. The battery drain will not be noticeable. If it is, the app is poorly written, find another one.

MMS.APK with popup issue

Hi guys, I've been searching for a couple days and have tried various sms apps as well as mms.apk's from various Roms. I was on Vanilla Rootbox for the longest time and the Popup for the stock MMS appp was great because if you were typing a reply to someone in the popup window, and another text came it, you wouldn't lose the text you were typing. In Carbon Rom(v.1.8, JB 4.2.2), it doesn't work that way, and it's frustrating to lose the typing input.
I've tried the MMS.APK from cm10.2, rootbox and ParanoidAndroid but none seem to fix the issue.
Anybody know if it's a MMS issue or the way the Rom responds? Any ideas on fixes other than non-stock sms apps(which are all slow and cumbersome)
Thanks.

OK, I'll do a clean flash and try it again. It sounds ridiculous but it's one of the make/break aspects of a messaging app to me. Thanks for your help so far.

Yeah I remember it used to be like that for me too and I either lost the functionality or never stumbled upon it again. Makes me curious now.
