After flashing a lot of roms i stumbled on jellybean 4.0 4.5.
The rom seems to work but basic phone functionality seems lost.
After every boot ringtones and volume are reset to initial.
Allarms and notifications are similarly treated. I have the problem consistently after Many reinstall retries
Version. 4.0 and 4.5 have the same problem. On 2 sepparate phones.
Is it possible to replace the whole dailing- answering system. Do not know any other way other then abandoning jelly bread all together.
Any Rom i hope is still supposed to be a phone!
Has anyone a simmilar problem?
Any suggestions?
Do i need to abandon the Rom?
gio user,
using cm7.2 for stability

Hello,
Having used lox devs dev Eclair AOSP ROM I've realised how lacking the Hero is in its standard form - general speed of use and just the way the system feels.
In short I love using 2.0 with none of the HTC bloatware, its a shame as I don't think the ROM devs think there is much call for this - Hopefully in this thread everyone who agrees will shout up.
Obviously the dev one has its issues - sync, random crashes on phone function, etc, but I'm happy to work with it if I know there is development coming.
It would be great for one of the devs to take the project on board, knowing there is community support for this. I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way.
Unfortunately I'm no way programmingly minded and struggle with linux at the best of times, never mind thinking about coding, but I'd donate/support/playtest any work in progress clean android *latest version* ROM for the Hero.
Sorry...subtract 1 No. I am not an android Dev..but have been drinking Leffe
anybody got anything to add to this?
i will request Lox_Dev to update this rom when he gets some free time as i know he is working hard to get Eclair 2.1 done. I and a friend of mine is using 2.0 AOSP for last 5 days and none of us is complaining with basic features. all look good.
just 2-3 things need to be fixed.
* cant set own wallpaper as album/gallery app isnt there.
* bluetooth pairs but cant send/receive files
* camera works upto 3 megapixel.
otherwise i dont find any major problem with AOSP 2.0. i dint face a single hang in 5 days and neither did my friend.
Well, first off all. The current 2.0 / 2.1 builds all run very laggy and crappy. It is as if the video drivers aren't using any acceleration at all or something.
In Lox's 2.0 clean build (which I've used for the past few days) every bit of animation except the lockscreen goes laggy. Scrolling through the menu, opening the menu, opening the notifications... it never goes as smooth as on the 1.5 based ROMS.
I'm in no way complaining, don't get me wrong. I'm very interested in using a stock android experience but so far nothing is working good yet. The 1.6 based tries don't support all the hardware, and the 2.0 / 2.1 based ROMs aren't up to speed.
This is more than understandable ofcourse. The 2.0 / 2.1 based ROMS are based on leaked alpha / beta work which just isn't ready yet, and 1.6 differs too much from the stock android ROM to get all the hardware working OK.
So my hope is that when HTC releases their 2.0 / 2.1 official ROM, we can use it to make a clean vanilla Android 2.x experience which runs as snappy as our current HTC 1.5 versions, and still with all the hardware working OK. Maybe even with a guide how to 'backup' or transfer the googlebits from the official 2.x ROM.
A clean 2.x ROM, but with the googlebits, and with the HTC music player + album + camera + browser... now that would be awesome.
Starting a thread like this isn't really much use right now, since we only have buggy laggy 2.x bits from a leaked ROM to get stuff working.

Ha, ridiculous. Seriously I don't get people's issue with Sense UI, if you don't want it fine.. But deal with the fact that you're losing HTC apps as well.

omg how am I ever gonna live without a laggy browser, calendar, contact list or sms application?
It would be the best thing ever, IMO.
And nobody needs to be offended, those who want sense UI can just use that
Exactly! So stop flooding Hero (HTC) ROM threads with useless crap about wanting a ROM minus Rosie/Sense UI, E2K you've been the worst offender?!?!
You must be happy now that a almost fully functional AOSP ROM's in the wild!

Happy?? I am more happy than ever! (regarding the hero)
Also very thankful that the developers got their sh*t together and are pumping out roms like real pro's.
THe devs should be called "hero" not this 2007 pos A7200 cellphone

wtf is wrong with stating what would be a nice combo in my opinion? I even started by saying that for now there should be no hope and 'just requesting it to the devs' right now is bonkers. When a good HTC 2.x ROM comes along the devs have something to play with, until then this thread was useless... and still you gonna call that ridiculous? Your even saying that to a user who has tried a vanilla ROM for the whole of 30 hours before running back to my nandroid backup with MCR on it.
Go troll somewhere else please, or at least read the posts carefully and whole you're going to attack.
it seems every rom i try recently has some sort of frustrating problem, i tried the new cm 7.1 stable when it first came out and my phone would not turn on sometimes, i tried mikg 2.xx what ever and i wouldnt receive text messages from some people, i tried a stock team nocturnals and my phone would just random reboot and get stuck in the bootanimation and i would have to pull the battery every time, now im on the "out of this world" stock nocturnal rom and sometimes i cant recieve picture text messages is there any rom out there that really has no problems? if so point me in the right direction. :/
I get the feeling rooting and stuff isn't for you. But you should try the link below and you SHOULD be able to run cm7 or decks stable. I hope your troubles go away

If you don't like pushing the edge with experimental ROMs try stock rooted ROMs. Swag has the best in my opinion. BTW don't complain, these guys work for free.

sounds more like sever user error, stick to a stock rooted rom.
click on the link in my sig to find out about aosp roms and kernels, in my thread there's a link to Decks gb rom which atm has absolutely not 1 prob. it's really smooth and fast and has great battery life ^_^
I agree with the post about user error. I've tried all of those ROMs and they each have little things about them that I do and do not like. But nothing is perfect. ROMs are works in progress and Devs are constantly working to improve their ROMs. If you are flashing everything correctly and are not suffering from user error then it may be a hardware issue.
Hi guys,
I have a problem for which i can't seem to find a solution through search. I'm on the latest Ice Cold Sandwich and the recent apps function (holding home button) gets really slow after a while. It seems to me that the function holds to many apps in memory causing it to be slow. I tried nova launcher which made it a little faster but not quite solved the problem.
Does anyone know a way to adjust the number of apps this function holds in memory?
Thanks
Not that I know of. And changing the launcher won't help since recent apps list is not related to it. I was a longtime IceColdSandwich user till Lord Clockan stopped active development for it. It's gotten buggy over time and especially because he was blind developing it without a phone to test on. After some use the ROM UI becomes slow overall. For ICS, I'd recommend aospX. It's the most stable ICS ROM. However it's pure AOSP and won't have AOKP/CM features like IceColdSandwich except the quick toggles in the notification bar. I'd also recommend you they the codefireX JellyBean nightlies. They are CM10 with some AOKP features and are more stable than IceColdSandwich in my experience. There a also JellyTime which is CM10 only. Since these are JellyBean ROMs, they are by default faster than ICS throughout. Everything works including 720p video recording and there are no major bugs that hamper usability.
Of course I'm only talking about AOSP ROMs. There are many stable Sense ICS ROMs if you like Sense.

As sashank said, you're not the only one facing slowing down issues with IceColdSandwich. It seems a lot of users are experiencing slow downs in the overall UI after a couple of days using the ROM.
I'm a fan of Sense ROMs, and there are a couple very stable ones around.
Thanks guys,
Might be time to switch to a jellybean ROM then....

Happy flashing
Let us know how it goes for you..
Yeah, I am in the same boat. IceCold Sandwich while formally rock steady, now is just laggy. I flashed over to Jellytime, but my wifi was so unstable at home that I have axed that one as well. I had Jellytime around B7 and had no issues with wifi. R12 & R13 are completely unusable for me. Oh well, time for something else.
Hi there,
I bought a Galaxy Nexus last month (came from a LG 2x speed, waiting forever for an ics upgrade) and I got a question. Been running stock android and I'm rather pleased with that. I had CM10 on my LG, and miss some features of it, like the toggles and volume options. But I really like the stability of stock android.
Since 4.2 I've been experiencing some lag, now and then. Especially when scrolling in Whatsapp. Does switching to a custom rom, like CM10, Paranoid Android or MIUI make the phone notably faster? I read some roms have GPU-overclocking, will this make the lag go away?
And are such roms stable? I hate removing the battery or not being able to answer calls, makes me feel like an idiot.
I know this question probably asked some times, but the rom development changes every month and I couldn't find a similar recent topic. Summarized: should I be rooting my phone and install an awesome rom that kicks the ass out of stock android, or should I better stay on stock?
Thanks in advance!!
Greetings,
Remy
Hello. I have a problem. When I goes to list of aplication and swype in right I have a little lag. It happen when i dont lock screen long time. My rom : Xenon HD. Who know how to solve this problem?
Custom Roms does not work good...I recommend you to get back at original official rom
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
why? custom roms have lots of improvements, at original official rom I can not get louder speaker, can not get more toggles etc.
