[Q] Buy now a Galaxy Nexus? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi to all, i'm new on xda forum and i hope that's the right section
At the moment i've got and Ascend G300 and i'm very tired about his slowness, and i wanna ask you if buy a Galaxy Nexus now it's a good decision.
My use isn't very heavy: Chrome, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, maybe some games and photos.
Do you think that's a good choice?
Thanks

I would advise against a galaxy nexus at this time. The online prices you will find are similar to that of a brand new nexus 4 from the play store.
I personally dislike the nexus 4, but it is a good value.

A galaxy nexus will be a little outdated at the moment . get a gs3 or note2 and flash with aosp rom

No. Only because the battery is still atrocious, reception is still weak, and it's simply not considered a contender in performance with these new phones.

if you're getting it dirt cheap then go for it

It all depends on how much it's going to cost I got one for £110 in the UK and for price that you can't beat it

Depends on the price you can get it for.

Edit: also, you're going to deal with the low memory lag bug. The only real good thing about this device is its software and Google experience.

I'd recommend it. I came from an evo 4g, and I love this phone. I paid 100 off of eBay. It's a great phone to learn on, and until your eye catches a new device you want, might as well wait. This will hold you off for the time being. Unless you want to pay for a n4, and are also on a network that accepts it, I'd go for it (if the price is right)

I'd go with GS3 or Nexus 4. GN is quite outdated today.

in italy was in sale at 200 with vodafone, this is a big bargain.

TL;DR in italy Gnex is not so easy to find and nexus4 is overpriced :\

A few months ago it was at 239€ and I think and I hope that i'll return at 199€, it would be great price.

I recently busted the screen on my HTC One XL, and had to decide about which used phone to buy, and settled on the G Nexus. I'm happy with it - I've rooted all my phones before, but having one that will continue to be supported by Google (unlike most new phones) and is super easy to flash ROMs on is sweet. If you're looking for decent specs and you'r using it for basic things and can get a good deal, I think it's a good option.

Android is growing the most in the mid to low end surely. They're replacing the low end featurephones with the low end Android phones that are < $50 on contract in the US, some of which being free. And in the rest of the world they're like $200 off contract.
The high end phones are selling well, but at the $200+ pricemark, the iPhone is absolutely crushing sales of high end Android phones.

The Galaxy S II is the world's best selling Android phone, second to the iPhone. People will pay almost anything for "exclusivity" and an Apple logo.

There is 100% absolutely no way that the Evo3D outsold the SGSII lol. Samsung sold several million SGSII devices in 2011.
As of Sept 25, 2011, Samsung had sold 10 million Galaxy SII's. And that's just the i9100 version.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/25/samsung-moves-10-million-galaxy-s-iis-pats-itself-on-the-back/
Not to mention the 3 different US carrier specific versions after that.
Excerpt from the press release:
SEOUL, Korea – September 25th, 2011 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced that the Samsung GALAXY S II (Model: GT-I9100) has achieved 10 million global channel sales, doubling from five million in just eight weeks.
Click to collapse
Also a bit of context: Samsung sold over 300 million phones in 2011, and HTC is only selling about 10-15 million per quarter of 2011. So there is no way they could have outsold on a single device. HTC didn't exactly make blockbusters throughout 2011 either.
definitely the samsung galaxy s2 and íts variants.

Is Galaxy nexus worth buy over the LG nexus 4 once its released ??

Hii guys,
So ive been saving up some money to buy my new phone. I initially chose the GNex since it is cheaper and other stuff. I'm from india and i thought of buying it from ebay india.
Anyway now that LG nexus 4 release date is close(will it be released in india this november ??) i'm wondering if its still a good move to buy the GNex. I heard that the LG nexus 4 have 2 gb ram etc etc better specs than GNexus ?? Is that true ??
So, i thought of ordering Galaxy nexus this week. Is that a good choice ??
If someone could help me making my choice i would thank it very much
Thanks in advance
Use common sense....plus they pulled gnex from playstore
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Needing LTE or being on Verizon or any other CDMA network are the only two reasons to stay with the GNexus.
lolz.. with that spec and with that price and with you made it obvious... you still dont know the answer?? the spec are way too high than gnex. its a different case if already have a gnex, but since you didnt... oh well "go go for Nexus 4" lolz...
i'm a Nexus collector so i'm getting it while I can.

We don't know if the nexus 4 will launch in India or not. Or when it would launch, if it does. Most people say it would likely be priced at 25k but no one knows for sure.
If you are willing to wait for more than a month for a possible release (which may or may not even happen) or are ready to spend over 25k to order it online and have it shipped, then the nexus 4 is a good choice.
The galaxy nexus is available right now for pretty cheap but it isn't as good as the N4.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
It would have been so awesome if they still offered the GNex for like $99 off contract, that would have downright incredible, but obviously would have cut sales from the N4.

The Nexus 4 has a better CPU, GPU, more RAM, slightly bigger and higher resolution LCD screen, wireless charging, and larger battery.
Yet unless something happens to my Galaxy Nexus I'm not upgrading because I've decided there are two things I love about the Galaxy Nexus that isn't available for the Nexus 4:
1) AMOLED screen. I don't care that it's pentile. Maybe my eyesight sucks because I can't tell the difference between pentile and non pentile 720P screens. I can tell the AMOLED screens produce colors I like.
2) Swappable battery. This is crucial for me.
With that said... I wouldn't spend more than $200-$230 on a used Galaxy Nexus... because let's face it... the Nexus 4 is still a beast of a device for the money.
even im eager to buy one here in India.. but i think u shud see this http://pricebaba.com/blog/coming-up-nokia-lumia-510-lg-l9-htc-8x-one-x
Expected price is around 30k in India.. not confirmed though.. Saw in some italian blog too that even there its going to be priced around 550 Euros according to some credible sources.. so if it costs more than double the amt compared with US, I think getting a Gnex makes sense or ask some one to get it from the US.
we are always deprived of all good things in the world or shud pay a lot to get them.. sucks

Had the Galaxy s3(i9300), traded for a Galaxy Nexus and I think this phone is Excellent and have potential!
I very recently upgraded from a HD2 to a Gnex. It feels like the very best thing I've done for a while! The Antutu scores are more than double also every JB rom I've tried runs fluid on this phone.
I did consider the Nexus 4 but to me the option of changing to a bigger extended 3500mah battery is important to me, so I got the Gnex. I use my phone as a GPS on my vehicle and my work involves me being away from a power source and just generally putting a lot of use on my phone.
If Nexus4 didn't have a sealed battery I would of bought it in a heartbeat.
in my country there is no playstore (portugal) and the nexus 4 will come out for 400-450 probably so i think the price of gnex is quite good
It's good. But nexus 4 will be better. Also i think that my gnex is lack of juice
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
in my honest opinion get the nexus 4 if possible but if not get the galaxy nexus , once you use a nexus you can't really look at other phones the same , S3 ,one x and all those phones are great but my friend's s3 seems so much laggier compared to my nexus which is a lot cheaper ,oh and the nexus gives insane bang for the buck but the if have a rather lackluster camera though =(

Im sorry i cant advice on prices......here in Italy the phones are much more expensive.
The only real differences between sgnote and s3 are the larger screen, the s pen functions and the battery. ..which is much better on the note 2.
For me both are very good devices.
I now have tried the asus padphone2 and i feel that it is even faster with its 2gb of ram.

Don't get me wrong, I think Xiaomi makes great phones, but I would rather buy something that is officially sold in the US & Europe, because that kind of ensures that there will be developers who speak at least english.
I would not want to go through the hassle of finding my way through a chinese forum where no one speaks english and I have to use the godawful Google Translate to even get a glimpse at what is being said.
I wouldn't waste my time. You are used to a certain level of polish and dev support since you use a nexus. Regardless of what specs this xiaomi has it will still not be on the level of stability and overall usability of the nexus.
how much n where?
Just get it and sell it for more over here?
