hello all
i look at the list of roms and its amazing how little support for this device there is. Most roms either discontinued or not been updated for a while.
but i have an idea how we can change this.
i have built cyanogenmod for many devices (xperia play, htc wildfire, htc desire) and even thou most of them wasn't released i wanna make something to share and help keep this device going. i am hoping that if this is successful then we would see or devices running android 5 (if that's what version it is)
so on to the question...
Where do i get the sources to build cyanogenmod for our device?
hope you guys can help me, i really want to start working on this device

Well currently there are two devices, the CDMA and GSM. Both have different device trees. Check the Guthubs of Deva like Rukin, Awidawad, Lloir, etc.

Welcome to the HOV forums. Do and donts eh? Don't flash a CDMA ROM if you have gsm lawl, I do like all the governor options in your kernels. will you be helping Simon with his epic quest to build the greatest kernel for the HOV
And will your kernels be for CDMA and gem?

Becareful with your kernel. A bad ramdisk has caused several developers to have almost inescapable boot-loops where they had to flash an RUU to be able to get their phone to work again.
We need S-OFF.
When you flash a custom boot.img or recovery.img, you will get a nice message on boot telling you that you have an HTC Development version.
We have CM10, PA, AOKP, CNA, evervolv, and MUCH more. All are pretty stable. Maybe modded ROMs of what we have? I think that has been a common request.
Simon has been leading the kernel development, really. He's definitely the person, as you've been told, to talk to for kernel-related things. I've been trying to help him out, but I'm not as experienced as I should be.
U R right~primou is GSM , primoc is CDMA

i dont think ill be able to get a software based s-off an xtc clip will needed for that. iv added Simon on gtalk to spit ball a few ideas etc i might port rom from other phones for the fun of it and wait for cm10.1 source to be full merged into the jellybean branch and compile that from source.
as for flashing kernels when i test my kernels i always do fastboot boot boot.img that way i can you the button combo to hard reboot if a bootloop happens
just to wish you welcome to HOV my friend, and later on we will get time to talk

I've gone? last time i checked i still have my one v, also hi
There must be more a technical reason other than a "lack of will". Is it a lack of source files? Lack of a fully unlock-able bootloader? I see that the Galaxy III has had an official version for quite some time. Just a question out of a curiosity.
There in fact is. One "official" and numerous variations from other chefs.

Absurd question
Firstly I would suggest you to frame your question properly. There IS CM development for the HTC One X. CM 9 and 10 have reached the nightlies stage.
Secondly im just guessing from your question that you are talking about CM 10.1 over here. As for that Samsung devices are easier to develop on and have a larger user base, thus are given more importance. But a CM 10.1 update for the HOX is confirmed in the near future.

CM 10.1 should work well for all the newer hboots. Most of the devs out there are facing a problem with the bluetooth and gps working together (tricky part). But i guess CM being a more 'established' team, will release their build after they have got these core functionalities working.
But then again thats just my prediction... Im not a part of the CM team, so cant tell for sure .. well just have to wait and see.
And Im assuming that development for 10.1 for the HOX is going on in full swing as they have uploaded the 10.1 changelog for te 'next nightly' on http://changelog.bbqdroid.org/
Hello all! I just got ahold of a used (mint!) HTC One V, and I'd like to know if any of you is aware of an unofficial or ported SlimBean ROM for this device. I use this ROM daily on my Galaxy Nexus and my Nexus 7, and I really like it. I haven't been able to confirm that it exists for the One V so far, so if anyone has information, please share!
Or, if a dev has planned to port SlimBean, I'll be more than happy to beta test it for the OneV!
Thanx!
Me too

This is the official website for Slimroms. There are many unofficial ports of this ROM too, but there is no list of devices for them.

It's an awesome ROM, imho. So far as I can see, it's the ROM that has provided me with the most ways to customize my phone. My past Nexus S ran it before I retired it, and now my GNex and N7 both do too. I thought CM10 and AOKP had everything, and they almost do, but Slim steps it up and adds more. And it has a much smaller footprint to begin with. All of this, of course, is my personal opinion.
I'm not a dev in any way, shape or form, so I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say we need AOSP sources (maybe it means a vanilla JB rom for this very device? some devices have official Slimroms support and don't have stock JB roms yet). It's sad if this is what's keeping SlimBean from appearing on the One V.
i'll run a build see how it goes....i'll also run an evervolv build, let me know what else needs updating guys. Also need some of you who can build from source to step up now, this place went to hell when myself and maxwen went to work on X+

Thank you for considering building it! Not a dev myself so can't help much! I went as far as installing Ubuntu x64 in a VM amd following a tutorial on how to install JAVA and the Slimroms git, but then the tutorial ended and I was without a clue about what to do next, lol!
Again, thanx in advance!
EDIT: I don't know if it matters or not, but I would like to see a 3.1 (4.1.2) build instead of 4.2.1. The 3.1 Slimbean build is very stable on other devices, and I think it'd be better than 4.2.1 for now.
I didn't plan on 4.2

As the thread title insinuates, will the stock android version on the HTC ONE, when its released in the US have any practical benefits for us HOX owners as well? Wonder if dev's would be able to borrow anything from that system.
cheers guys
Just try cyanogen mod its the same. And with tweaks.

I know absolutely nothing about compiling roms let alone actually porting them, but if somebody out there can get their hands on the new Android L source from the SDK (Nexus 7 i believe?) and compile it for the Desire HD/Inspire 4G (ace) then that would be so awesome. Anyways, just a request. Figured if it can run KitKat why not Android L.
I don't think the full source is available yet, only some GPL parts.
Also, it's not quite as simple as KitKat -> L. A good developer with the time might be able to, but it's tough.
Does anyone know if the hardware of the desire hd is generally compatible and has enough ressources to run android lollipop?
Well now a full AOSP source is out for all nexus devices
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
very interested to see if the amazing people can make android L 5.0 run on our htc dhd phones , from what i have heard the requirements are lesser than previous android builds ? and new compiler ?
If I knew how to compile I would do anything, including getting a Linux distro and waiting overnight for the compilation, but again, I have no idea how. Except I know you should use BBQ Linux
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
There doesn't seem to be any discussions in this devices forum for future development
Now that source is available and there are early "working" custom builds for several other devices ....
Are there any developers still working with Desire HD who would/are looking at a Lollipop ROM??

Where did you see that?
Didn't find it at XDA or Google?
When I remember correctly, the Wildfire S has an ARMv6 for which Android Runtime (ART) has no support.
And in Android 5 Dalvik VM was removed and ART is default Runtime.

I see they've pushed cm-12, although I'm a complete newbie in Android. They'll probably finish the work before I really get into the subject, but I hope I can learn and possibly help with the development. My old HTD Desire HD and me will be very thankful!
