It usually isn't there but sometimes when I flash a new rom or do something I don't know about that little pencil icon shows up at the bottom of the lock screen clock widget. It's really annoying and I don't know why they would have it there at all in the first place.
Does anybody know how to get rid of it?

Don't click on any of the personal messages or the time and you'll be fine
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
I don't, but it's still just always there, it wasn't on infamous 2.6.1 but now on 3.0 it's back. I'm not going to re flash a rom with a full wipe just because of a pencil icon, because I'm sure it has to be a simple fix, but it's tempting, it's very annoying.

It actually came with my breast cancer awareness theme I dropped for E4GT goodness. Just never dropped it on my clock thread. It will surface when I get a chance
I would like to see a built in theme customization.

I wouldn't mind if android came pre rooted since 85 percent of is going root anyway.

Yes, however it takes root and some flashing. To be able to do it from the settings/display menu option would be nice
I agree with blackdragon79x, to be able to theme would be great.

Me personally, I can go for some motions, they always seem to amaze me, I honestly still get a kick out of swiping my hand across my phone to take a screen shot lol, if not that, some more options in the power saving settings, or a default settings to keep screen off when you receive a notification, not that it bothers me because I'm rooted and I use freeza's fregs3 ROM which comes with that option, but I'm sure other would really appreciate it

How to: Remove it
It is the "Smart Stay" Icon; if it is bothering you that much here is how to disable it:
Goto:
1. Settings
2. Display
3. Under the Features, there are two boxes "Smart Stay" and "Smart Rotation" if either of those is marked then you get the icon.
If the "Smart Rotation" is checked and greyed out, then you have to re-check the "Auto-rotate screen" to be able to uncheck "smart rotation".

Nice I'll check them out
Edit: Do all the new themes work for the S3?
I tried the Bluemonko and it works fine on the S3, its pretty nice.
I love it but the Elegant Theme has the signal bar icons slightly hovered over the rest. I believe it's an XML error of some sort. This was flashed overtop BlazerRom. If you have any solutions, let me know! Willing to test!

wow nice workaround!
Although I have root, I'll give this a try later. Good stuff!
I found this workaround with stock att g2. And it still works on g3 ports.
Rather share than have people rooting just to have themes
Worked for me. Thanks.

How did you get the smart world app? the apk that's floating around here doesn't seem to work, so the next question is how to get themes without it?

They have themes at the Play Store. Just search with "LG Home themes" as your search criteria.
