OK. So I am looking to buy the Bell HTC Desire Z to run CM on it... but I haven't heard of any confirmed roots yet. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks
It's been rooted since the same time as the G2, earlier this month. CM 6.1 RC2 runs fine on it.
Yea so the same root as for the G2 works on the Bell Desire Z?

That is the answer i was looking for... Thanks. Gotta get my Galaxy S back from service then sell it to someone, and i'll have a Desire Z as well
Right now the Desire Z has its own set of forums. But this is causing a lot of overlap and duplication of efforts, so hopefully they'll be merged soon.
Right now the procedures to root your Bell DZ are in the DZ forums.

Oh wow...i completely missed that.
Yo I hope it's not too late.
Don't buy it from Bell at $499.95 no contract. It won't work cause you are fido. It will only work if you have a friend who is on the Bell network buy it for you. And even if you manage such a feat it is still too expensive.
I got my G2 off of this guy on Craiglist. It was brand new (even the battery had the little plastic thing on it), and I got it for $480.
I unlocked it, and even though it is a T-Mobile phone it works for Fido no problem.
BTW where in mississauga do you live?
I'm sure Square One might have some unlocking service.
Though if they don't, or if they have expensive ones, go to
mobileincanada.com.
They are the best there is.

What do you mean it wont work? it wont work on fido's network or the price isnt worth it? I'm also thinking of getting it from Bell.

I have mine running on Telus. It will work fine all 4 carriers (GSM and HSPA).
The TMobile version will not have 3g on Fido.
I got mine from Best Buy but I had to get manager's permission as I was not with Bell. The phone was only available for Bell customers when I got it. If they hassle you ask for the manager. They can make it happen.
It works just fine on fido...mine does. Bestbuy can sell it no porblem. Go to the queensway one as they sold it to me there. Yes you do pay a premium but i dont mind the extra cash as its brand new with a receipt with my name on it.
I mean you being a Fido customer just mosey on up to a Bell store to buy the Desire Z outright with no plan won't work.
It does work with Fido network.
I bought mine on Pay As You Go for $499 from Bell. Unlocked it and I'm now using it on Rogers.
Only issue is I can't send or receive MMS messages. I think it's just an APN issue thought. Mobile internet (3G and HSDPA) works great.
I never even tried MMS. Did you have to pay an activation fee?
No

Yea i think there is a separate APN for MMS.
I know abt the thing where bell doesnt let you buy it unless you are with them... I went through my cousin to get my sgs (unfourtunately). But will bb sell it to you if your not on bell?? Cause that could be ideal and i wouldnt have to pay the extra $20 bell charges for an upgrade to existing customers.
And i cant find anyone on kijiji selling it... like there is no one...

Yea, unlcoking im not worried abt because the new root method unlocks the phone (im sorry if you paid to get it unlocked lol). And the Tmobile G2 will work on Bell/ Fido/ Rogers/ Telus, but without 3G speeds... and that is a requirement for me...
I'm a Rogers subscriber who purchased a Bell Desire Z outright last night. Played with it at work and then until almost 6am!! LOL
It was so tough to root for me....... because I mistakenly didn't have the gfree file in the directory and made another stupid mistake. Rooted, using a global stock ROM with ADWLauncher and the 1.4GHz kernal as I don't like the custom roms all too much. This is a HUGE leap forward from my Xperia X10. So happy right now (and tired!)

Is anyone using the HTC one X international version on AT&T?
Did you have to go and get a microSIM at the store?
I just ordered an unlocked version and I want to make sure I can use it without any issues.
Thank you for the help.

If you are provisioned for Android's HSPA+ plans you should be able to just cut your sim card and use it in the phone without any fuss.
You can just cut your current sim into a micro sim.
You don't need to change data plans so long as you were on an iPhone or smartphone beforehand. But you can if you want.
Just got mine today and it works great. I just changed to a micro and grabbed a sim adapter to go back to full when I use my Note. Didn't have to do anything else to get it up and running. Amazing phone
You don't need to pay more than 15 bucks for data unlimited data. Non smartphone is the same speed. They don't know its a smartphone if you dont tell them.

Not always true.....some international phones don't work with medianet
At least I've read some Galaxy Nexus GSM don't work, the companies give AT&T IMEI's sometimes.
I have the international version of the One X running on AT&T in Los Angeles/ San Diego area. I am loving it. No downsides to going with the international version except you wont get LTE. The data connection is still very fast though and completely functional.
The One X micro sim is easy to make. Cut your sim with a butcher knife and a cutting board. Its harder if you dont have a friends micro sim as an example. You are going to love this phone.
I have the note too with an adapter since I came from the 4s. The one x works great with AT&T but my unlocked note gets slightly better data speeds. Like a gb more dl about the same upload compared to the x

Just call AT&T with a imei from a go phone add unlimited data for a dumbphone is $10 a month.same speeds same service. Easy

AT&T version is going to use S4 Krait, LTE, possibly bigger battery
International One X uses Tegra 3, no LTE
No problems at all for me so far! HSPA+ is doing very well.

Like the title suggest I paid about 400 and I really don't know the difference between them but I'm sure this isn't one I should keep or should I? I would hate to go through the hassle of shipping and waiting but then again I want the correct version. The input is appreciated

I believe theres a DoCoMo thread in the General section, there's an unlocker app in the dev section as well originally made for GN-Docomo's
But my Sim card works I'm on att. I just want to know if there's a major difference enough so to return the phone. Every thing seems to be working fine I just don't want problems down the road because this is a domoco

I think the differences are only limited to the supported network bands. But it seems everything's working fine for you on ATT.
On a firmware level, docomo may not be yakju stock - your future Android updates won't be coming through from Google but from Samsung, at a later date.

I personally would not keep Docomo version as from searching i found that with such version you have to either satisfied with being not permanently unlocked (SIM Unlock code request will appear each time you flash a new ROM or make a factory reset) or satisfied with being permanently unlocked but with generic IMEI.
When I bought my Nexus here in Vietnam there were a lot of Docomo ones but I rather waited for European version and was willingly to pay 20-50 USD more (Docomo version here in Vietnam is sold for 20-50USD cheaper than European version). Hope helped you with decision.

I actually used the galaxy toolkit and everything seemed to work fine. So I'm on yakju now. And I actually like the nexus more than the one X if that's hard to believe

I actually flashed the factory Google rom yakju on this phone and it didn't ask for an unlock code. Sim still worked. Haven't tried a rom yet but that will be my next test, I don't think it will be any different. Thanks everyone for your replies

Right now I'm on Straight Talk, but want to switch to T-Mobiles' 4g Monthly plan. Where did you guys get the non-gba 50.01 micro sim card? I'm having no luck searching on Google. Called T-Mobile and had a dumb representative on the phone that kept insisting that I get a sim card and cut it ignoring what I actually needed. Called a lot of stores around me and they said they didn't carry it. Only found one guy on ebay selling them for $30 a piece, I'm not paying that. I would rather buy it officially from T-Mobile.
Bump.

I got my phone from buy mobile phones.net. It came unbranded with a micro sim attached to it. Might be worth giving them a ring. Although I'm not sure if it's just an English site

There are other threads also discussing this.
I have a European One X, took me 30 mins of calling to find the right micro SIM. I contacted all of my local (within 5 miles of my house and office) T Mobile stores and struck out. I ended up calling a T Mobile store a few miles out and the store manager was kind enough to email his peers and called me back within 20 mins to tell me which store had it, that the store had it on hold for me and even gave me the name of the manager I should ask for.
T Mo USA customer service is no help as they cannot specify that you are in need of a non GBA micro SIM and so they will simply send you what they have (more than likely a newer micro SIM such as what is being shipped out with the One S).
You have to call around stores and ask yourself. Perhaps you will get lucky as I did and a manager will offer to check other stores and call you back. I simply told the manager I was speaking with that I just purchased an unlocked device from Europe and how excited I was to have it. The manager asked me what device and through "small talk" and a love for gadgets, he took the extra step and sent an email out and called me back (nice).
If you strike out, you will have no other choice but to purchase the SIM from Amazon or eBay.
Good luck!
Yeah that was who I called was the USA customer service. I wish it wasn't so hard to acquire this sim card, but I guess I'll try. Thanks .

Hope it works out, buddy. I too wasn't happy considering I may have to pay for SIM, let alone such a ridiculous price.
I have three regular size T-Mobile SIM cards version 50.01 if anyone needs one.
I am using one myself in my One X (S720E intl unlocked model) and it works fine.
Now, 2 left.
I have managed to find more of these if anyone needs one.

Hi,
I dropped my LG G3 this morning and its moved on to the phone afterlife which has sped up my decision to buy the OP3 by a month or so. I can get one today from O2 in the UK but curious if they are any different to the variant direct from OP? Reason being is that I will need it unlocked and would like to flash the community build of OxygenOS which is why I would like to know if it is different in anyway.
Thanks
its the same model, oneplus has just partnered with O2 in UK. I remember reading it somewhere however you can still confirm it with O2.
it's the same model as OP selling itself for UK market.
Yes, its exactly the same as One Plus ship to the UK if you buy from there website.
Its carrier unlocked and doesn't lock to the network of the first sim card you put in it.
Dual sim is totally awesome as it allows you to pay peanuts for your calls and text and then use the second sim card for data only which can be bought in bulk for peanuts. Just this function alone is going to save me £100 a year. :victory:

I picked up the official rosewood case from CeX for £8.
It's not that grippy but boy does it look awesome and its so nice and thin. Even though any case adds bulk to the phone, I find the OP3 easier to use as naked, the OP3 is far too slippy.
I'd give the official case a go first and then get something else if your not satisfied.
Does anyone know if O2 will carry any of the official Oneplus accessories?
