Issues with music, Bluetooth, and a cassette adapter - LG Optimus G Pro

I have a BlueAnt S4 bluetooth speaker phone in my car, synced with my OGP, for hands-free phone calling. For music, I have a cassette adapter that goes from the OGP's headphone jack, and into my in-dash casette player (remember those? ).
Whenever I try to get music to play through the cassette adapter, it instead goes wirelessly to the BlueAnt. It makes no difference which i connect first.
With my old iPhone, whenever I connected the cassette adapter to the headphone jack I would get an on-screen pop-up asking me whether i wanted to send the music to the jack or the bluetooth, and I would choose the headphone jack. I don't see this availability with the OGP. Does this exist on this phone? Or, does someone know how to get this working properly? Is there some setting I need to tweak?

haha wow thats a nifty feature...unfortunately from what i've seen most phones dont ask that...altho usually priority goes to the headphone jack from what i've seen so i'm surprised its giving priority to the blueant. if u go to ur bluetooth settings u should have the option to change it so the s4 only connects for calls not media...that may solve ur issue

Vinniemac84's solution is the right one. I do somewhat of a similar thing with mine, although I do not use a cassette adapter...lol.

that's y i made sure the last car i got had bluetooth built in

Thanks! That did it. Under the options for the BlueAnt (on the OGP), in Profiles there are two check boxes. One is for Phone audio, and the second is for Media audio. Both had been checked. I unchecked the the second one (Media audio) and now I'm getting sound through the headphone jack (at least here in my office, right now). Will have to check it later in the car.
Separate question...under "available devices" in the bluetooth menu, I've got "LG Docking(B4: DB)", which I believe is from an LG wireless speaker (NFC and BT) that I was trying at the local Best Buy the other day. Is there any way to get this to stop showing on the phone's display? I don't see a way to delete it. I can hide it by selecting to only search for "Mobile phone", but I figured there should be some way to remove it from the list.

u sure its under "available" and not paired? if its under paird devices just click on the lil gears icon next to it and hit unpair

Yes, its under available, not paired. Thing is,, right now it's about 4 miles from me, and i don't think my bt can reach that far

that's odd...it should only show under available...kinda like how wifi will typically show previous wifi networks even if they r out of range as long as u connected to em at least once...that's a lil odd...new one to me i'm sorry...not even sure how you could trouble shoot it. anything outside of 30-40 feet shouldn't show up. got me stumped haha

If it were me I would try and clear data for Bluetooth Services.
I imagine it would clear all your pairings but at least it would get rid of that device.

Bluetooth Headphones

I recently purchased a pair of Iogear wireless Bluetooth headphones to use with my Fuze. I went through the process of pairing them, and managed to get them to connect. But when I tried to use them with listening to music or making a call, they would not work.
Anyone else have a problem or a clue as to why they won't work?
The phone supports both A2DP and AVRCP.
Hope this is in the correct section.
I'm unsure on why it won't work. I have some Plantronics Pulsar 590A and they are top notch. I use it with my 8525 (Hermes) and the sound quality is great. Also, Plantronics does a great job on their warranty.
I have noticed that sometimes when I connect my bluetooth headphones, that if I had the media player already launched that it would not play through the bluetooth headphones but though the built in speaker still. Once I shut down the media player and launched again after bluetooth was enabled and headphones connected, it would work.
When you paired the headphones, did you make sure that in the bluetooth settings for your bluetooth headphones (under settings, connections, bluettooth find and tap on your headphones and check there) that wireless stereo and handsfree was checked.
Sometimes also, my device for some reason just chooses not to connect anymore to my headphones and I have to do a soft reset to get it to connect. Does not happen very often - once per month. I use my bluetooth headphones and the Motorola T505 in my car for streaming music wirelessly to my car stereo every day.

You know this happens with me with Core Player. I have to set up the A2DP before I start a movie or song in the program or else it won't work.
Instead of doing a soft reset I just turn bluetooth off and then back on. That usually solves the problem of the mystery disconnect.

Yeah, that was one of the first things I had done before even trying to use them. I checked the settings. But still to no avail. Even tried soft resetting.
It worked instantly with my Tilt though. But I bought them to use with the Fuze lol.

Yes I do this to for this particular problem. The soft reset required problem is something different - Not sure yet what causes it - I think that it is an app that I run every now and then that causes some kind of conflict even after it has been shut down. Still have to figure it out

Oh yeah. My bluetooth headset, Plantronics umm forgot the number works with the Fuze. This is a mystery to me
Have you tried your new bluetooth headphones with different media players such as S2P or Mortplayer, TCPMP, Core Player, WM Player, HTC audio Manager should all support but perhaps what you are using does not. I don't have a Fuze so don't know how the built in audio manager media player works but have seen several posts with people having problems. Try another media player 3rd party such as S2P, Mortplayer, TCPMP (all free) or Core Player (not free)

Okay, I'll do that, but it doesn't even work with using them to make a call.
There's a built-in mic on them, so it should work with that as well. It says it's connected, but the lil headphone icon never shows up when I turn them on.
Are these the ones you have

Yeah, those are the ones I have.
And it does support both of those.
Maybe I'll do what addicus said and send them back.
I was really hoping these would work too! Darn.

After trying them again, when I tried to make a call, I heard it make a sound as if it was turning off, and still did not work properly.
I'll be returning these most likely.

Damn you shortay! Since I wrote in this thread my Plantronics have been tripping when I make a phone call and not syncing up. I figured it out. It's that new Yota dialer I put in the other day. Sometimes I can't use the bluetooth on a phone call unless the A2DP is hooked up. Weird.

Lol, sorry! I wonder if I hard reset my phone will it fix it.
I messed around with a new cab earlier today, and had to restore
my phone, and i think it's be tripping afterwards anyway. Last try before I sent them back...that's after the iogear support people reply to me. Appreciated all the help.
Okay, so the email I got from the support basically told me how to set up the bluetooth headphones. WOW... some help they are. Other than giving me a number to call if I needed "further assistance". I thought that's what I was asking for in the first place.
Anywho, after randomly deciding to hard reset my phone, I tried the headphones again, and wah lah...they work!
I guess some setting in my phone wasn't set right. Go figure. Anyway.. Thanks to those who helped.
I'll be keepings these.

Glad they are working now for you.
okay, so I may need you guy's advice. It seems as though they only work once and then i have to delete them from the phone, then discover them again. Could it be a defect in the particular headphones I have, or the model not working with my Fuze? Maybe I should RMA these anyway?
Maybe you should head on into the shop you purchased your Fuze and describe the problem to them. Perhaps they will allow you to connect various different bluetooth headphones (that they have at the shop) to your device to see if it is a problem with your device or with your headphones.

[REQ] Phone --> Bluetooth Speaker

Ive been searching around but cant seem to find any apps that would do this. seems to me like it would be quite simple to do. anyone know o something similar to able to quickly put something together?
Main reason at the moment is that i currently have a long wire diagonaly across my room to connect my laptop to my speakers. I just thorght it would be realy good if i could plug my phone into my speakers and then send music to it via bluetooth. Im sure other people have been in this situation where an audio cable has not quite been long enough.
Might be a bit harder but possibly this could work over wifi too and would be able to work from room to room. I expect this would require a pc client though..
any thorghts?
I would love to have something like this. The phone would behave like a bluetooth speaker or headphone (A2DP). This would be fantastic. I was looking for something like this a year ago, I thought I would find a software which helps me do this, but I was unable to find anything then. Maybe we can find something now.
I could try developing such a software if there is not anything of this sort already available. I would be glad if any experienced developer can provide us some starting points, keywords, etc., which would speed up the initial activities.
Use UPNP media server
the simpler solution is to use unpn media server over wifi networks
like twonkys media server. or xmbc
basically the computer where the files are stored will server the files to any network attached device including HTC through webbrowser.
I have my dish tv /Satellite decoder connected to home pc using vlc and watch the tv on my HTC HD using VLC
for sound files i directly load them over network disk
Anil
Bluetooth Audio Receiver
I've got a TV which supports bluetooth headphone. With such a software, I'd be able to use my HTC HD2 as a bluetooth headphone. This should turn the phone into a bluetooth audio reciver, rather than a transmitter.
I've been looking for this software for ages and appreciate any ideas.

yea this would have been good. was halfway through downloading xmbc when i realised it wont work in my case.. im at university and the wireless has some security issues that wont let it connect to my phone
also wireless drains quite a bit more battery than bluetooth and would probably have to plug in the phone each time you do this.
some great links though, now we need some bluetooth ones!!!
Is this what you need?
http://beemer.sesma.eu/en/btaudionav.htm
Let's see if I get that right:
You want to send BT stereo audio from your BT-enabled laptop to your phone, and plug your phone into speakers for audio output. Right?
Might be easier to get a bluetooth receiver for your speakers. There are some for your home audio system (e.g. at amazon).
What I did was get a stereo bluetooth headset receiver. You can use it as a bluetooth headset (in your car, on the bus, wherever) OR you can simply plug it into your speakers. Just be sure to find one with a 3,5mm plug (and not wired-on headphones) so that you can use your own headphones or plug in your speakers. There's a choice of fine receivers from
Nokia (BH-214, BH-500, ...)
SonyEricsson (HBH-DS205, HBH-DS980, ...)
Jabra (BT3030, ...)
or you can try and get a cheap but great one from the itech clip series.

no, I dont think so. thanks for the suggestion though!
we arnt trying to get sound from the phone to a bluetooth speaker but instead turn the phone itself into a speaker whcih can recieve audio from other bluetooth devices.
for example if watching a film on my laptop, i would like to plug my phone into my speakers, connect up the bluetooth, and watch rather than running a cable to the speakers which are a long way away.
Nik, you bet me by one...

to be honest ive actualy already ordered this:
http://shoponspot.com/bluetooth-20-a2dp-avrcp-stereo-music-receiver-and-handsfree-black/
I still would like to see this app developed as i can imagine future situations where this happens and i dont want to have to carry this around everywhere.
also people with bluetooth tvs im sure would prefure not to have to use another device all the time and occasionaly you get bluetooth headset transmitters in public places where this might be useful.
hope it is possible!
ooo wow! im a senior member now!!
well i received my bluetooth headset but unfortunatly it charges through the 3.5mm headphone jack so i am unable to leave it there to just work
Ive also tried plugging in a headphone splitter but it realy dosnt like that!! so that means every time i leave my room i will have to put the reciever on charge and every time i return i will have to turn it on and plug it in.
does anyone know if it would be possible to get the phone to work as a bluetooth audio reciever? seems like something it should be able to do
I'd like to bump this because I've been searching for ages for exactly this. I'd personally like to go one step further and have a client that would support A2DP and the handsfree protocol. The latter I would like to allow me to answer and initiate calls to my work mobile using my HD2 as though it was a bluetooth handsfree kit. Then I could use one phone for all my calls.
I can imagine a wide range of useful applications that other solutions like wifi audio streaming or a dedicated bluetooth audio receiver wouldn't match.
I wish I knew how to write software... Maybe if I ever have a few hundred hours of spare time on my hands I'll learn and write an app to do this.
i also want this.
please anyone help.
This would be great.. i currently have an nvidia shield tv and I can plug my normal wired headphones into the nvidia shield's bluetooth remote. The problem is the remote's battery life only lasts a few days when used like this. I would love to be able to use my mobile phone as a back up for when the nvidia remote battery dies. For some reason the nvidia remote won't charge unless my head phones are unplugged.

2 questions/problems regarding car dock

1. The music widget type thing in the dock app just repeats 5 or 6 songs... I've fiddled with all these settings and it does the same thing.
2. When talking to people on the phone I hear the persons voice through my phone speaker, how do I get it to play through my car speakers? I think I might have to turn speaker phone off because that's how it worked with the tape adapter.

Does the microphone on the phone still work this way? Considering the aux cable doesn't have a mic built into it like other hands-free headsets.
Figured out why I was only hearing like 5 songs.
Apparently you're supposed to have the stock music player set to "party shuffle" and then that widget in the car dock app works great. Plays all songs.
And I'll try talking with somebody with the phone not in speaker phone, I'm pretty sure it will work so that they can hear me, and I can hear them through car speakers.
Oh and I called Moto and the lady talked sooooo slow, and verified everything I said like 4 times, just to say that she could just replace it. Didn't even know how to troubleshoot.
Is it impossible to edit the widgets that come pre-loaded in the car dock app?

Music through Aux with Bluetooth [RESOLVED]

I'd like to keep bluetooth on in my car for taking calls, but the phone seems to automatically output audio through that as well, even if a 3.5mm cable is connected. I searched through the settings to no avail. Is it possible to use BT strictly for calls while still outputting music through aux? I mostly listen through Pandora, and I'm on CM7.
I forgot about this post, but it looks like it didn't get any replies. Bump!
Bump
Solution
Yes, it is possible, while connected to your car,
go to settings, Wireless & networks, Bluetooth settings,
search for your car's Bluetooth name and long press it, this should show you a "pop up" window,
click on "Options...", there you have something called Profiles which allow you to control the behavior of that particular Bluetooth device,
You should have 2 boxes ticked, Phone and Media,
tick media off and your device will only work for calls!
Hope it helps!
Best Regards,
P.S: If your phone connects via Bluetooth to your car and streams music, than I must assume your car supports A2DP, in which case, you will gain nothing of audio quality for using the aux input... just saying.

Oh man, thanks so much. I can't believe it took this long to get this straightforward of an answer. I'll have to try it out today.
As far as the audio quality goes, I feel like there's a subjective difference; some sort of flakiness or bits of static when going through BT. But maybe it's just a placebo effect; I'll do some more trials.

Well, it's not impossible.. You could have a low quality Bluetooth receiver but since it is built in with your car it seems unlikely.. either way, what matters is you get your solution and your peace of mind! (I know how I get when something like this happens and I can't figure out a solution! xD)
Don't forget to post back.
Best Regards,
Yep, works flawlessly. I haven't done enough testing to see whether my car sees audio differences between aux and BT, but I'm at least able to use aux separately if I find a difference.

I had the same problem with my 2013 Dodge Dart. Make sure bluetooth is [ON] on your device BEFORE you start the vehicle. Remove the CD from the CD Player. Remove any USB drives (if your car has a USB plugin). Remove the AUX cable.
This fixed my problem, albeit on a different car. I also opened up bluetooth settings and you can click the checkbox that says "media audio" and that should help.
Report back if this helps or not. If not you may need to take it back to the dealer.
Sorry to say but the Juke does not support the feature to play music through BT.
