Two days ago I turned off my GNex and as I turned it on and tried to turn on the WiFi, it get stuck with the writing "turning WiFi on" and the WiFi "button" blocked (I can't turn it neither off nor on).
I tried to reboot several times but the phone is stuck with this problem since the moment I turn it on.
I never modded anything with my Gnex, never changed ROM or kernel, so I found this problem quite strange.
Does anyone knows how to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance

so i assume you are completely stock. hard reset should fix the issue. i have seen this before on other phones and the hard reset seems to fix the issue.

Check the system logs i.e. 'logcat', 'kmsg' to check if something's wrong with the hardware.

Your next step, if factory reset doesn't solve it, is to reflash factory images. It will wipe your device's entire memory. Step-by-step instructions here.
I'll try to flash a factory image asap, thanks
Wifi switch Grayed out
My Sprint Galaxy Nexus is presently on 4.2.1 and has been facing wifi issues. The Wifi button/switch/toggle under the settings options has "Grayed OUT" and wouldn't allow me "ON it".
This happened after I downloaded an app from google play. However after which i removed the same by unistalling it and have been facing this wifi issue since then.
I did a Factory Reset but WIFI remains "Grayed OUT". Can some one guide me to solve this issue.
Thx in Advance

Just read the thread (and linked threads). The troubleshooting steps are the same for you. No need to hijack the thread (you didn't even mention which app that was, for example, you only need to press thanks and follow our lead).
P.S: I honestly don't care if anyone presses thanks or not.

That's good, glad to hear it. Have you grabbed the logs from kernel/system, back when it was not working?
If you did get them, now we have a "template" of what the kernel and system report when it finds this kind of failure.

I bought this phone used from eBay and it worked fine for about a month.
Then the Wi-Fi stopped working. as you can see in the pictures, the wifi button (slider) is disabled/grayed out and if you go into the menu, it is stuck on "Turning wi-fi on".
I've tried everything from downgrading to 2.3.6 GB (currently on official ICS 4.0.4 through Kies) to installing Cyanogen mod ROM but it wont work. rooted then unrooted. everything else works great.
Any help would be appreciated.
I've attached screen shots to this post.
Thanks.

Yup. I did. I have other devices on home wifi that have no problems connecting. In addition i have tried at starbucks and work wifi. Still no go.
The WiFi on the Galaxy S2 wont even turn on to recognize/select networks (SSIDs) to connect to. As you can see in the pics, the Wifi ON/OFF button is grayed out/disabled.
Did you try flashing a different radio since the issue started? If not I would try it, maybe downgrade the radio to UVLI1 or even try re-flashing the same radio. I know I had this issue once before but fixed it somehow, I think it was just a reboot for me but if you tried all of what you said in the OP you would have rebooted a few times.
Did you use Odin to flash back to stock? If not, give it a try with a full wipe.
Although i have not tried to mess with Radio (noob here, not sure i wont mess that up), I did Odin the phone back to stock ROM with no luck.

Ah Ok. There you go then. and i tried with a couple of TMO stock ROMS (starting with GB 2.3.6). so obviously that hasnt worked. Thanks.
i found a possible fix, that worked for me. Go into your recovery, i did it with TWRP (latest one) and advanced and fix permissions, than i rebooted and worked! Give it a try.

To avoid any future hassles I contacted the seller and he agreed to take it back for a full refund, so i guess i'll never know what happened. Thanks for your help everyone.
I know this thread is nearly a year old, but I had this problem and figured out a fix that worked for me so I know its still relevant.
My fix was:
- reboot into latest cwm recovery (v6.0.4.3 touch for me)
- click "mounts and storage"
-click "unmount /cache"
-reboot
So far it has worked every time and wifi screw ups have happened rarely ever since. Hope this late post helps at least one person who was as frustrated as me!

My WIFI is off, and if I hit turn on, it got stuck on turn on. But if I were to back out and go back in, it would be on off again.
I'm using Kitkat
After awhile all i had to do to fix it was turn airplane mode on and off. But just the other day, I was flying so had my phone in airplane mode and now that won't fix it and neither will my original fix :crying:
I have the same problem
It was working fine stopped and did everything and still not working,
I have a AT&T S III on Android 4.3 Stock.
I keep getting "your internet connection is unstable" on my WiFi & anywhere I can get a WiFi signal. The signal strength is full and the issue still persists. I have tried wiping the cache partition, clearing the app cache on WiFi Direct and WiFi Direct share. Also unchecked "Auto Network Switch" in WiFi settings.
Any help would be appreciated.
BTW. I am using a Netgear R7000 Wireless router at home.
I don't know what a solution to this problem is but when I first got my S3 back in August it did that for about a month then just stopped and I never saw it again. In March I had a warranty exchange because my screen went black and the new one started doing it, too. Again, it did it for about a month, then it just stopped. have you recently replaced it or done a factory reset? Just an idea. Sorry I couldn't be of more help for a direct solution.

I had that too, and I think the easy fix is when the notification pop's up saying "go to settings.....blah blah......" Hit the don't ask again radio button, then OK. When I did that it never showed up again. Hope this helps.

Yes you can downgrade with Samsung Kies. I don't have the exact directions but Google it you will find directions.
It depends on your bootloader. If you are on mjb then no you cannot downgrade and risk bricking your device if you try. If you are on mj2 then downgrade away.

Hi,
Out of the blue, I can't find any WiFi networks. NONE.
ALTHOUGH, if I enter my network's ssid and p/w manually, it will connect.
What the heck.
I just recently flashed stock, but when I did that it worked flawlessly. I also edited build.prop and deleted some bloatware, but I restored everything back the way it was and it still fails working.
No WiFi network is found. Anywhere.
The weirdest thing, is if I download some random WiFi manager from the Play Store, it finds every network available..
Anyone?
Thanks.
Anyone please?

Another wifi problem
Hi and happy new year,
I have a problem with the Wifi but not the same as you.
It's very strange because I can see all the neighborhood but I can't connect successfully on known networks.
I've tried with many networks with no success...
Sometimes, the wifi disappears and it shows disconnected.
Maybe it's a hardware problem.
Thanks for your help,
AkuaBlue

Have you tried not synchronizing your phone with google account after reset? It pulls list of known networks from server, it may have had affected searching of new networks...

I hadn't.. Do you think that could really cause it not to find any networks?
Also, is there a way of erasing that now? Or do I have to reflash?
Either way I'm going to have to use TB to get my apps and data back.. Do you think maybe that has something to do with it? (I only restore user apps though)
My LG G3 wifi & bluetooth stucked at turning on. Tried factory reset, flashed the ROM & use FXR wifi fix and rescue but still not working. Have not tried changing to another Kernel yet. Could it be hardware problem?
I don't think so... Maybe an app is in conflict with wifi & bt.

Similar issue on my end - About a month ago, I opened a support ticket with LG. They returned as "repaired" and my phone worked for about three days before the issue returned.
Using Titanium Backup, I restored the bluetooth system software and it worked for about a day. Considering flashing my phone back to stock and starting over.
If anyone has experience on finding a permanent fix to this issue, I'd be all ears.
Try booting into safe mode and see
I'd be very interested in a fix for this too.
I've a completely stock unrooted D855 that last week seemed to over heat and shut itself down. On restarting it's eaten it's way through the battery in very short order, gotten hot and shut down again. Rince and repeat a couple of times. I've then factory reset and its continued to do the same thing.
Further investigation has shown the WiFi and Bluetooth "turning on" constantly without ever actually turning on. And I've then discovered that the MAC address (and Bluetooth equivalent) are missing.
Would appreciate any help possible
Seems like i'm not alone. Yup my phone auto restarted few days ago after turning on wifi & it keep rebooting if the wifi is turned on. Only stable after i flash the ROM but the WiFi & Bluetooth issue persists. Safe mode does not help.
Same issue started 2 weeks ago. Factory reset didn't fix and battery life being killed by constant searching for BT and wifi. Unlocked G3. Waiting for Marshmallow in the hope it fixes it.
You could also have broken firmware when i got my g3 wifi turned on and off and always dropped connections i ended up reflashing stock with flash tool and tot method and it fixxed i had a bad firmware download straight from lg
hmm so no one has a way to fix this issue?

Same problem here, wifi and bluetooth mac address unknown, return to stock with kdz files, 10a, 10f, 20, 21a, nothing work, .tot method also not work.
On 4.4.4 = boot loop, and for android 5 battery drain and wifi bluetooth issues.
Waiting for marshmallow
i found a post by someone else in another forum that fixed this problem. I followed some of his steps to reboot into safe mode to turn off the bluetooth & wifi but it didn't work so i turn on Airplane mode while i'm on safe mode & reboot again in safe mode & it works.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/595554-lg-g3-wifi-bluetooth-won-t-turn-why.html
Any fixes with Marshmallow ?
Would be good to know a fix as recently happened to me. Can now only use data for Internet and am getting through a battery in 3 and a half hours as the phone is constantly trying to connect the WiFi and BT. Tried Factory reset. Used LG Mobile Support to update software. Now finally have the lovely Marshmallow but the issue remains. Please help!
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
Anyone found anything on it?
Same problem here. Wifi and bluetooth randomly stopped working. It works randomly sometimes..
Wifi mac address shows as 00:02:00:00:00:00
New Battery
Hey everyone, I had the same problem. After installing an OTA update, my D850 crashed. When it started up again, I had no WiFi/BT. I tried several factory resets, flashing multiple custom roms, tried unrooting and returning to stock. Was convinced it was a hardware problem. As a hail mary, I ordered a new battery off Amazon. I put the replacement battery in my phone, and WiFi and Bluetooth are now fully functional. Is it possible that everyone with this problem just has a bad battery? It's definitely worth a shot.
probably a hardware issue...
Hey guys,
if brysclar's hint about the battery (see right above) doens't help you, you might want to check out a detailed summary I've written about this issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/qa-wifi-stuck-mac-020000000000-g2-g3-g4-t3452133
Good luck!
Hello guys, a year ago I tried root my phone and got bricked. After 2 weeks I finally fixed and came back to the stock rom. Since that day my WiFi is not connecting.
I'm able to search and find any network, but when insert the password, the phone try to connect, the signal go down, the message "connecting" appear, and after that appear as "saved" but not connected. I already tried to define a static IP address, but didn't work.
Can I broke the wifi firmware when tried to root for the first time?
Someone have an idea on what is going on?

No I ve used several different hotspots to connect. The strange thing is that mobile data are working.
hmmm take a look at this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/radio-modem-collection-flashable-zips-t3468628
If that doesn't work try to flash ex kernel if i remember it correctly it changes something with wifi to.
If that doesn't work then It's broken or you can fix it by doing something else but dont know what, Good luck
