3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.

5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.

I hope this is the correct forum..
I think it would be awesome if we could receive some sort of notification (or popup) when we are quoted in a thread. Its much easier to keep up with questions and conversations.
As an example.. im on www.slickdeals.net and whenever someone quotes me i get a popup that notifies me and i can click on it and go straight to the comment that quoted me.
If this is already an option in the forum.. please let me know.
Thanks!

This doesn't exist here, but due to the number of users on XDA (approaching 4 million), it is highly likely to bring the site to a grinding crawl

Hello,
I'm a new member. I read all of your rules, I watched your 'You are a noob' video, I read some of your stickies, then I decided to post my first message carefully trying not to break any rule.
I wrote my first message but your vBulletin refused to post it because of an error in my submission:
To prevent spam to the forums, ALL new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. After approximately eight posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thanks for understanding!

That's quite a great welcoming!
My message contained no outside links, no images and no smileys. So it seems that your regex is buggy and is not able to tell the difference between a legitimate message and a message containing outside links. Kinda noob!
Is it possible to fix this problem? If you need help, you can contact me (even if I am a noob! ) and I'll fix it for you.
Thank you
Can you place your post on PasteBin and let me know which forum you were trying to post it in and I'll take a look.
The Regex will be from a 3rd Party plugin - as are most of the extras on this site .
Dave
Don't worry, my message had an at sign that was mistakenly interpreted as an 'outside link'. I changed it with (at) and I posted it.
I was asking to fix this problem just to avoid some frustration to other noobs like me
Thank you anyway
We'll look into this and get this fixed in the next few days. Thanks for letting us know!
I'm happy to report this error has been corrected

I just got the same error message while attempting to include the Quote ("Quote message in reply") - worked fine without that option.
(including quote to see if it is reconstructable)

My question kinda answered itself.
Apparently everyone is able to send private messages, even users with less than 10 posts
EDIT: @roofrider
thanks for the info.

Everyone can send PM's, however, don't be surprised if your PM's asking questions that could have been found with an easy search are ignored by some members. Or tech support questions, many users simply ignore questions that aren't asked and answered in the public forum for all to benefit from.

If you would, please edit the title of the first post to include [SOLVED], save it, and then click on the little triangle report button in the upper left corner of the first post and ask for the thread to be closed as it has been solved? I promise to give you a thanks if you do this.
Thank you!
