This is my first time modifying a rom, but unfortunately it didn't work out.
After trying the 2.73.751.4 rom, I decided that I like the traditional chinese support of this rom, but I like the look of the old people widget more (2.73.751.4 change the look of the people widget slightly).
So I took the htccontactwidgets.apk and htccontactwidgets.odex from system\app of the 2.73.405.5 rom and replace the two files in the 2.73.751.4 rom with these. Then I re-sign the zip file of the new rom following the instruction here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473580
Everything seemed to work fine as the signing process resulted 0 error. I installed the new rom with Cyanogen recovery image and it reported installation success.
However, upon reboot, my Hero got stuck in the screen showing the HTC logo (waited like 20+ minutes), never got to the point where it should play the boot up sound, and I had to pull the battery to turn it off.
Luckily I could still enter the Cyanogen recovery image and did a nandroid restore. I tried repeating the process again but also got the same result - stuck at the HTC logo. Did I miss something when re-signing the room?
I downloaded all the rom zip files from here:
http://android.modaco.com/content/h.../03-09-hero-roms-radios-in-update-zip-format/
and previously I had tested that both 2.73.751.4 and 2.73.405.5 worked fine on my (unbranded Hero).
I have a gsm galaxy nexus rooted. I recently changed the font only to find that as a result i was unable to update from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4 ethier OTA of via .zip using CWM and had to flash stock 4.0.2 factory image. I have searched and found threads relating to the font issue, this is not what i am doing. I wish people to post changes theyve made to there phone (changes that need root of course i.e. theme, boot animation etc) and weither they were still able to update or not afterwards, as i had used set cpu, changed boot animation and used volume+ and changed font at the same time i am unable to confirm if these changes made a diffrence as the check may have stopped before it could check these due to the system/fonts/robot error coming up first.
So to start do NOT change font as to update you will need to flash stock factory image first
Sorry to make this topic but I get a serious problem.
Now I have done it.
When I trying to turn my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on the text Samsung Galaxy Note II GT- N7100 appears as normal but then,..
When the Samsung appear it keeps flickering blue and the phone keep on this display. I even wait an houre and it keeps there, still flickering. I think this calling a bootloop.
I can't use my note anymore and I need realy help to slove this problem. I realy won't loose any data!
The only functions that works is download mode and a mode were you can wipe cache (what I have already done) and mannymore options.
I know the the cause. It has occurred immediately after I reboot my phone after this mod:
I found a topic on XDA for better audio/record mod. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181391
Replace the file media_profiles.xml (/system/etc/) and reboot phone.
So I have done that. But I have read over the text it was for CMW7 and I have a stock rom so this can be the problem?!
How can I fix this problem withoud losing any data? It makes me very sad.
I think if I could flash the defauld media_profiles.xml from the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on it to replace this that evrything works proper again, because this is the only file that was replaced, and but who got that flashable zip?
Please please please help
My thank in advance!
Sounds like you already correctly installed a recovery (CWR or TWRP).
You have the stock un rooted JB rom.
Basically what you did wrong was flashed a mod for a rom of a different base and rom (CM7). That won't usually cause a brick.
Try to put your phone in download or recovery mode.
If you can, your remedy will be to wipe the phone and flash the stock rom. You won't lose all data from internal sd card.
If you can get into download mode you can use the windows program adb.exe to pull data from the internal sd card, but I would only do that for priceless data, as it will probably be a big hassle for you.
Thanks for your awnser.
What did wrong was that I flashed a mod for a rom of a different base and rom (CM7)!
I need a flashable zip file for my note 2 N7100 that contains media_profiles.xml (/system/etc/)!
A hole flash isn't necessary because is only one file that cause this problems and I'm always been on a stock rom and has NEVER install a custom rom.
Please somebody can you make a flashable zip for my Note 2 with the default media_profiles.xml file from the galaxy note 2 (/system/etc/media_profiles.xml)
If I could install this, my note will work correctly.
Download mode and recovery mode still works.
My problem isn't sloved yet
somebody can you please make a flashable zip for my Note 2 with the default media_profiles.xml file from the galaxy note 2 (/system/etc/media_profiles.xml)
Please
Does anyone have any idea how to enable custom bootanimations on the Find 7a? I know that when I was still using my Nexus 4 and GS3, I had to download a patch to enable custom bootanimations to work, but I haven't found a way to enable it on the Find 7a yet. I've already replaced the original bootanimation in system/media and I even placed a custom bootanimation in data/local, but no matter what I do it keeps booting the stock bootanimation. How is that even possible, I already replaced the original bootanimation, just how in the world is it still able to boot the stock -_-... I mean normally, even if custom boot animations are not supported it should show at least a balck screen at boot up since I deleted the original bootanimation. Need some help here guys. I am fully rooted, SuperSU, busybox installed, etc.
Hey guys, this is my first post here, and i'm having kind of an emergency. pretty much i was poking around in my system/bin partition and decided to do the G3 Camera mod by replacing the media_profiles.xml with one provided that had changed settings (running on 5.0.1) i ended up getting a boot loop, so i used what little knowledge i have of TWRP to change the permissions of mediaprofiles.xml to allow my phone to boot. now my camera app is devoid of features both in photos and videos, i have a quarter of the settings i once had, and whenever i record a video it's some garbled pixelated mess, if anybody has the stock media_profiles.xml from system/etc for an LG G3 ls990 on 5.0.1 i would really appreciate it, every one i've found online does not work at all, whether it be from them being from different phones, or what. even when the permissions are changed to rw-r-r (which is what stock was) i've had no success with any files. i tried downloading the stock 5.0.1ZVA .tot file for my LG G3 to hopefully somehow extract the files in it to access the system files but i've never done anything like it and i'm not sure its even possible,
thanks, joe
